Considering canceling August trip following FL handling of Trayvon Martin murder.

NOPE - this is one phone call. She was on the phone when Trayvon noticed that Z was following him, so he put his hoodie on, When he walked fast (or Ran) when Trayvon asked Z "Why are you following me" and when Z said "What are you doing around here". She heard this all. Listen to the link you can hear her yourself. Don't take my word for it.

Respectfully, you are incorrect. Here is the timeline:

18 : 54 : --
Martin calls girlfriend while walking back to father's home from a 7-Eleven. According to his girlfriend, a man had been following him. She stated that Martin had slowed down in an attempt to identify [Zimmerman]. She told Martin to just run home. Martin declined and stated that he would "walk fast".

19 : 09 : 34
Zimmerman calls 911 and reports a suspicious black man "who looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something..." with his hand in his waistband.

19 : 11 : 59
Zimmerman tells dispatch that [Martin] is running towards the back entrance. This is also the point where the alleged epithet is uttered. Dispatch asks Zimmerman if he is following [Martin] and instructs him not to continue. For approximately 1 1/2 minutes, Zimmerman follows Martin.

19 : 12 : --
Martin receives a call from his girlfriend, a call which lasted around four minutes. Martin indicated that he'd evaded [Zimmerman], however the man had apparently caught back up to Martin. On this call the girlfriend stated that she overheard Martin demanding to know why [Zimmerman] was following him. [Zimmerman] responded by demanding to know what Martin what doing there. His girlfriend also stated she heard Martin being pushed down, because his headset dislodged from his ear and the call is disconnected.

19 : 16 : --
Call with Martin's girlfriend is disconnected.

19 : 17 : 11
Martin is shot

There were two calls between Martin and the girlfriend. He called her. They spoke about him being followed and he told her that he would 'walk fast'. Later, she calls him back and overhears the 'why are you following me?'/'what are you doing here?' questions.

Regarding your back turned question, Zimmerman wouldn't have had to ask the question with his back turned. Imagine him walking back to his vehicle. From behind, Martin asks 'Why are you following me?'. As Zimmerman turns around, he asks 'What are you doing here?'. Martin punches him in the nose. The act of throwning the punch dislodges his earpiece. A fight ensues that, per the timeline, goes on for one minute, ending in Martin's death.

She might be called as a witness if this comes to trial but she might not. Since their call was not recorded, there is no record of the actual conversation. It would be torn apart by opposing counsel.

She is scheduled to appear on April 10. Her mother stated in an article via their lawyer that she was prepared and ready. Phone records don’t lie. She was on the phone and the only one that heard this ‘conversation’ between the two. They can pick her appart but the phone records don't lie.

That Zimmerman sure is a hothead. Three arrests (domestic violence and assault on a police officer). Now this is revealed:

Notice in the freeze frame of this video that no noticeable injury exists on the back of his head.

Do you really not see what looks like bruises on the bald part of his head and also a little to the right?

The Sanford PD has also refused to discuss the case anymore and has threatened to arrest any journalist that dares ask a question to any city official about the case. :scared1:

I am planning a trip down in August so the more people that cancel for whatever reason..... The better it is for my family. I will gladly get through the lines quicker because of whatever thing you want to boycott!
Please do!

I'm not saying that the phone call does not exist. I said there is no record of the actual conversation.

No, sorry. I'm really being honest here. I don't see anything. Especially since this is the angle that folks are using to show the injury. :confused3

What do you think of the article and Zimmerman's past violent behavior. If these allegations are to be believed, he seems a bit overzealous.

Heavens. They can ask all day long at work, but apparently the press is setting up camp at city employees' homes after hours. This whole story has reached the point of farce. Honestly, people.

Now, it's possible that I'm hearing her interview cut up and misunderstanding. BUT, If this is true IMO it would only help Trayvon. He was followed for 15 minutes. That is a long time. Poor boy must have been terrified. That's a long time for a stranger to watch someone. Seriously.

The girlfriend didn't say Z said "WHAT are you doing here", she stated "What are you doing AROUND here". What was around - his car. NO, Trayvon was around. Z wanted to know why Tray was in that neighborhood. Considering what Z clearly told 911 – it’s reasonable to believe at the VERY LEAST. Why is this dialogue so difficult to believe? I can believe that it’s possible that Tray hit Z first. Why is this dialogue so difficult for you? Again, she was on the phone. You can at the VERY least admit that. She did hear SOMETHING. If she wanted to make up something, she could really do some damage here. 4 minutes is a long time.

The Sanford PD has no right to arrest journalists (for "stalking") that ask questions off the clock. LOL They just make themselves look worse and worse.

However, the Florida statute on stalking does not include language that would provide special protection to city officials or prevent media from asking questions.

I think the bolded part is something we can all agree on. The media has failed us and we entered farce territory about 10 days ago. You don't know who is spinning who anymore. Lawyers, activists, the media, bloggers, internet communities, celebrities, etc. It's all become free for all in reporting information about this case where you can throw something against the wall and hope it sticks. It has become way too heated and emotional and I don't know who to trust to give me the actual facts, which are in short supply.

This incident has further highlighted the divide in this country and made it worse. Not only has it hurt America, it's not going to end well. There will be people pissed off, no matter what the outcome is.

Fla. St. 810.09 (b) If the offender defies an order to leave, personally communicated to the offender by the owner of the premises or by an authorized person, or if the offender willfully opens any door, fence, or gate or does any act that exposes animals, crops, or other property to waste, destruction, or freedom; unlawfully dumps litter on property; or trespasses on property other than a structure or conveyance, the offender commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

I can sympathize with some clerk bringing in $35k a year who has to deal with a reporter from Der Spiegel ringing his doorbell during dinner or bathtime. There's a vast canyon of difference between respecting employees' private time at home vs. your characterization that anyone that dared ask any further questions would be arrested.

People seem greatly satisfied creating these hee-haw strawmen that fit their perception of the people of Sanford (a suburb in a metro area of 2,000,000). I'm not sure what purpose is serves, but whatever.

So if the homeowner asked the journalist to leave, they should leave. You can't arrest people for asking questions.

The PD is doing a great job all alone of portraying themselves as not the sharpest crayons in the box.

I bet the PD didn't even write that release. Sanford hired some idiot media specialist who seems just awful.

You can however have people arrested for harassment and/or tresspassing.

Well, CNN has further enhanced the 911 call. Now, they're saying, doesn't sound like a racial slur. They believe, he said ****ing cold.

I find it interesting all the folks who think the "stand your ground" law is the problem here.

Let's just assume for a minute that everything the media has basically "convicted" Zimmerman is absolutely true. That his story has no basis. That he was the only instigator. That he actually started the fight. Let's just assume all that.

Were that the case (we don't know), and were Martin able to fend off Zimmerman (he wasn't), it would be Martin who was using the "stand your ground" law to HIS benefit ;)

We do not have a bad law here. What we have is sloppy police work. Even if Zimmerman's story is 100% true, there are procedures to be followed in the aftermath of a homicide (this is not classified as a "murder" yet, but it is a homicide). And those procedures were not followed. Ultimately everyone loses as a result. If Zimmerman is guilty, we'll never know. If he's innocent, we'll never know that either.

And as previously pointed out, sloppy police work is in no way confined to the city limits of Sanford, FL ;)
