Considering buying an extra ticket for FP+

We are a party of 3, with 2 riders and one non-rider. Seriously, the only way I would use a FP+ for me (the non-rider) would be for an ADR, M&G, or parade/fireworks. Not planning on booking any of those, at least in our first 3.

So, I feel like my ticket is being squandered (for FP+ purposes). IF I were to buy an extra ticket (and make it work), the riders would have an additional set of FP+.

I am not at all sold on this, in part because I'm not sure how it would work, but I wanted to run the analysis just to see where it would take me.

Does a band have to be used for admission for the FP+ associated with it to work?

I have a MYW package. Would I buy an extra ticket (say, from UT?), and link it up or buy an extra ticket for our package? Either way, I have to list an additional party, right? This feels like the wrong thing to do.

Any way to make this work? I would want to have the ticket linked ahead of time, so I could book the FP+ 60 days out ... but booking later would be ok too if that's the only way I could make it work. I guess I could buy a ticket day-of and then book an extra set of FP+ at a kiosk while the riders are doing their thing ... seems kind of risky.

Thoughts? (Other than, "You are crazy, lady ....") :rotfl:

Just pick some FP for your ticket, and give your Magic Band to one of the riders when they want to use your FP.

Yes the ticket must be used to get into the park for fp to work. This sounds like a lot of extra work and money to me. You would have to add another person to your reservation then add another ticket. Then the tick would have to be used to get into the park. Sound like a lot of work to me.

Currently the ticket does not have to be used for park entry in order to access FP+ in the park (just don't associate it with your MDE account). You can't book in advance with that second ticket, but you can set up FPs at a kiosk in the park.

Just know that could change at any point in time.

Another option would be to book 2 of your FP+ for the other 2 people one for each of them. For example at AK you could book the following FP+

Person 1
Safari
Kali
Everest

Person 2
Safari
Kali
Dinosaur

Person 3 (non-rider)
Safari
Everest
Dinosaur

So, everyone rides the Safari. The non-rider gives their MB to Person 2 for Everest and Person 1 for Dinosaur. The Non-Rider Get's 1 prebooked FP+ and the riders get's 4.

Strong post.

Wow - this is so smart I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it. I am SO glad I asked this question now. You have stretched our FP+ for free. Thank you so much!

Also keep in mind that everyone will have a rolling FP after using the first 3. You can get a 4th, 5th, 6th, ... at a kiosk. There are many people who have found that they are getting MANY more FPs now per day because of that adjustment.

I'm glad you posted this because I've been wondering the same thing. We'll have tickets for 8 people but some days DH can't come because of a conference he'll be attending. So just to clarify we can use the FP associated with his ticket without him being there?

Why not associate it with the primary MDE acct?

What if you have a separate MDE account? One in my name and one in DH's name that aren't linked.

Ignoring this trick for a moment.... can a MB/ticket already associated with an MDE account be used for FP+ even if the ticket was not used for admission?

Scenario: My family of four are all APs. On the day we arrive in WDW later this year, my two kids will probably hang out with my parents (who are not APs), maybe do mini golf and then go to bet around 8. My wife and I are planning to go to dinner at the Grand Floridian (a little night out) and then spend a few hours at the MK. Could we use our two children's tickets/MBs for FP+ that night even though they won't enter the park?
