Considering Add On Question

I am waiting for my guide to call back, in the meantime....

I am considering purchasing two 25 point contracts (subject to availability of course) at BWV or HH. I haven't added on in a while and don't remember answer to this question......are there closing costs involved with an add on through DVC? Are there closing costs thru Timeshare Resales?

Sorry if it's a silly question, but I honestly don't know. Any info you guys can provide is appreciated.

We had NO closing costs when purchasing through Disney. You will also get your same UY.
Although I have not purchased resale, from what I understand there ARE closing costs, but often lower prices per point than Disney.

closing costs are around $300 on small contracts through the timeshare store, so it's not usually a good deal to add-on by looking for a resale.

Another thing to consider is the number of points you will get with the contract. Disney will give you current UY points. If you are still in your 2006 UY when you purchase the add-on, it starts with the 2006 UY points and Disney generally allows you to bank those points even if you are past your banking deadlines! If you are in your 2007 UY when you purchase, your add-on starts with the 2007 UY points. If you purchase resale, you may get even more points if the contract is "loaded" (2005 pts banked, 2006 banked/available, all 2007 coming) or you might get far fewer (no current pts and all of the next UY's points borrowed and used).

With Disney, your dues for 2007 will be pro-rated from the day you get the points. With resale, the seller often asks for all 2007's dues to be reimbursed (this is negotiable).

So make sure you take everything into account when comparing contracts. Currently, HHI is $87/pt and BWV is $95/pt through Disney. Prices are going up on/after June 4th to $92/pt and $98/pt respectively.
