Considering a Christmas trip to WDW: anyone else?

No worries. We need to help each other :). If you scroll to previous posts there is one by canuksrock that is a copy and paste and exactly what was sent to me in my email.
Thanks so much. Appreciate the kindness. My husband is going to to go a CAA store that sells insurance near his office this morning to deal with this in person and make sure that we are going to get proper coverage for Covid 19, and deal with an agent in person. Thanks again and have a wonderful holiday :)

Husband got off the phone with Manulife. Their Covid specific policy will continue to cover you for Covid 19 if you qualify. I also went to an insurance expert. He went through every single exclusion on the Manulife covid policy. You are covered even with the travel advisory, just be sure you follow the qualifications about being vaccinated. This doesn't apply to cruises though.

I'm on the phone waiting for someone from manulife since more than 1h43 minutes... didn't speak to anybody yet. Did you buy your travel insurance before today or you just buyed it now?
I didn't bought extra one because we have some with the work of my husband and other with the credit card but i'm now really considering buying an extra one OR cancel the trip but departure date december 30th we are too short to be reimbursed. Thank you

I waited for over 2 hours this morning to chat with a Manulife agent and their covid insurance still cover us for covid unless there is a travel ban which is Level 4. So I bought my coverage soon after I hung up the phone.

We bought it this morning after Manulife and a travel insurance broker went through all the exclusions with us, and we were satisfied that we would be properly covered under the advisory

We added the Blue Cross after asking here my 1 million each through work was suffice. Glad we bought it.

Sooo.. I’m going to spend a week on pins And needles. We are driving to our place in Florida, our trip should be 👍 Dec25 - Jan 7/8. I’m praying they don’t close the borders in the next 8 days. Bad news is our friends are coming, she can’t work from home and is going crazy daily worried about a quarantine.

I travelled every Xmas after losing my daughter, I just can’t be where there are reminders, snow, family (to me) celebrating. Last year almost broke us. If they close the borders, it will have a very bad mental health impact.

I feel badly for those postponing, it’s so hard. 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩To you all

Don’t worry about them closing borders. They won’t. And as a Canadian citizen you will always be allowed back in the country.

Worst case is you would have to quarantine.

I don’t think they will either. At least I hope not. At least not before xmas
If we are there, we are coming home as planned. I’m prepared to do my part to quarantine most definitely. I will not speak to my best friend (Lol) until we leave anymore. She had me 😳. I get her as she works in a bank, and she can’t work from home.

We are in the same boat. Our test is this morning and I will be on that plane tomorrow morning. I just can’t stay home sitting here - we miss our son like crazy and the holidays that I used to love are such a difficult time of year since we lost him.

I was watching the live feds covid update that just ended and one interesting thing the health minister said is that USA CURRENTLY has 10x fewer omricon cases per capita than Canada does - he pointed this out when a reporter asked why is the government not including the US in the arrival testing of all vaccinated passengers.
He also said that it really depends what you plan on doing in the US that makes it less or more risky than being home. Which is something that goes without saying…
He mentioned Netherlands as well having many more omricon cases per capita than Canada - so they acknowledge that currently, it’s safer to travel within Canada/USA than going overseas. I’m not saying that should or shouldn’t change anyone’s mind, the level 3 advisory is global anyway, but thought it was interesting he came out and said that.
Let’s hope in that case the US doesn’t shut us Canadians out :)

I literally just got an email that there's a case at DD's school - waiting to see if a close contact email comes in - we're supposed to leave home at 2:45. I just can't at this point 😫
ohhhhh @#$%&@*$%&#$% no!!! I'm sorry. I really hope that it won't involve any quarantine for you.

Oh no! Crossing my fingers for you.

We just got 2 emails about 2 cases in our kid's high school...thank goodness the break is here because I have a feeling the school would be closed (schools have been closing one by one here!). And now Ford and Moore are making an announcement today at 3:30pm. Having flashbacks to 2020 and 2022 is almost upon us :worried:

Fingers crossed it not their class.

I’m half tempted to keep my kid out of school next week just because I know what’s coming but he literally has all his big projects due. Ugh. And this is his final year so his marks are important for the university applications he already has in. But at this point I feel like he’s a sitting duck. I’m not necessarily worried about Covid but it seems stupid to keep spreading it when we know what’s coming .
