Hey all! Hope everybody had a happy Christmas Day (if you'uns celebrate such a thing, that is :goodvibes )

It was a great one at Doodah manor. The kids got Nintendo DS's which they seem to be enchanted with. After we watched the WDW parade we went over to my parents' house. I think there were about 40 of us there -just a great great time. DW and I took over about 80% of the cooking (since my mom broke her rib last weekend), and pulled it off without a hitch. :) All in all, just a smashing day. Best of all, I thought about baby Jesus a lot.

Hey, it's Fred Sanford, as we live and breathe!

Welcome back, Trinity --   -- we have three mascots now [don't worry, I won't put Rowdy out there, seeing as how he's something of a WMD at present].

Great news about Christmas joys, despite your mom's injury. And it's pretty wonderful to think that baby Jesus thinks about us, too.

I was kidding about Trinity being mascot material. I don't think I'd enter her in a competition. :)

So, you like the Fred Sanford avatar?
Back story: Over Christmas I was kidding my brother (51yo black man) that he was now older than Redd Foxx was when he portrayed Fred Sanford. Of course I have no idea what age Foxx was at the time, but it made for some good kidding around. I thought the avatar would remind me of the good laugsh we shared yesterday.

Oooops....I called Miss Trinity a he. :flower3: I think we definitely need three mascots.

Too funny about your brother. I had a lovely time recently giving my ex a hard time about what a sexy red mustache he USED to have. It's white now. :rotfl2: I thought I was very hilarious. For some reason he wasn't amused...heh heh heh.

His name is Reagan. Isn't he the cutest???

:lovestruc

Does he have a twin? :rotfl:

The first thing I thought of was the Family Ties episode where Alex named his brother's fish Agnew and Kissinger (in the end, Agnew ate Kissinger, so it was a morbid relationship).

I'm torn, I love this dog, too.

I do the same thing in hotels, usually three or four times a night, but am always able to drop right back off to sleep within a minute or two. I've always attributed it to being in unfamiliar surroundings and not being entirely comfortable.

Yeah, I think that's it...I wake up in the dark in an unfamiliar surrounding...and I get confused for a second where I am.

Hello, my fellow conservatives! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was wonderful. Great food, family fun, and a new puppy! The kids are on cloud nine :cloud9: but what's really got me tickled pink is how much my dh loves this little guy.

Trinity is precious!

DH told me we got 18 inches of snow since I left...

And, with the exception of the Obama coffee table book, no mention of "The One" since we got here. And my youngest daughter did wear her McCain-Palin sweatshirt on the plane...:rotfl2:

My son, who had to stay home this trip, is sending me daily pictures of Jack with his cell phone.:goodvibes

Mornin' Cons:

Thought some of you might enjoy this article from The Daily Telegraph about GWB and his legacy. It includes this little nugget:

"Ten or twenty years from now, historians will view Bush's actions on the world stage in a more favourable light. America's 43rd president did after all directly liberate more people (over 60 million) from tyranny than any leader since Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Widely seen as his biggest foreign policy error, the decision to invade Iraq could ultimately prove to have been a masterstroke. Today the world is witnessing the birth of the first truly democratic state in the Middle East outside of Israel. Over eight million voted in Iraq's parliamentary elections in 2005, and the region's first free Muslim society may become a reality. Iraq might not be Turkey, but it is a powerful demonstration that freedom can flourish in the embers of the most brutal and barbaric of dictatorships."

Of course we'll never see such an assessment in a US newspaper.

And then there's this: Harry Reid in "an uphill battle" for re-election. Could he go the way of Tom Daschle? Gosh would I ever like to see that nasty little man sent back to his corrupt friends in Nevada as the EX-senator!

I'd like to nominate my Pebbles for mascot too. Not exactly a puppy (she's 10), but she could be like the matriarch of the mascots. ;)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Wow. I'm so far behind, I know I cannot catch up with you guys. I've been off the dis for a few days since I had a lot of cooking and visiting to do very quickly. I had to work yesterday so I'm just now getting back to my normal world. I need to go back to work again today, but I'm not motivated just yet.

I got a new puppy, also. DH got me a husky. She's only 7 weeks old so I wish she was still with her mother another week. I am also fostering this weekend a little 1/2 cocker 1/2 lab. Poor thing should still be with it's mom. Apparently, a grandmother got it for grandchild without checking with parents. She will be going to a home on Monday, but I took her in. They hit me up at work yesterday. I didn't have the heart to say no. Fortunately, DH is patient and knows how I am.:)

What a sweetie Zip. She's a doll. Glad you had a nice Christmas.

You're a saint.

My house looks like it was hit by a bomb. I have some serious work to do today. Oh my word, it's awful.

Thanks!!! Nah, but I love animals of any kind and I hate to see them in a bad or unwanted situation. I've learned so much from our local rescue group director who also is the obedience trainer for all my doggie's.

As for my house, it's:scared1: also. I hate it, but DD says she will work on it today to help me. I will finish later. We may be hosting a New Year's Eve bash so it will make me get it done. Ususally, we do a Christmas one, but with DH's work schedule, my audit and the house addition in progress, we put it off. Our local friends who are used to coming for the annual bash are asking quite forcibly when we are doing it. I think they are about to schedule it for us if we don't pick a day. Thank goodness, DH works today and Monday and then he starts a vacation. Maybe this house will be finished in January. At least, that is what we are praying and hoping for!

Hi Everyone! I have missed you. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I think we should keep all the puppies as mascots. They are all so cute!

I know I have missed a lot - the end of the old thread and the beginning of this one. We have been so busy and enjoyed every bit of the holiday running. I hope things will settle down now but we'll see about how much that really happens. At least we will just be a normal busy not holiday overdrive busy!

Which means I'll have more time to Dis. I have a trip to plan in 09!:thumbsup2

I am sitting here researching Husky names. :confused3 Hmm.. DD wanted to name my new puppy Aspen, but that appears to be a male name.

I have loved looking at the pictures of all the dogs
they are all adorable
we are going to see Marley and Me today

How about the name Juno?

That is a good one! I'm hoping to get it decided today or tomorrow so I can call her properly.

I read the book, but haven't seen the movie. I'm not sure whether to go or wait for the dvd

Good news! The orange smell is.... BAAACK! :woohoo:
