Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice Christmas. We made it to Las Vegas, after a few schedule mishaps. And guess what? It's snowing in Vegas!!

Cool! I can't wait for our Vegas trip. We just booked it yesterday. Four nights at the Mirage starting January 29th. Only 34 days to go :cool1:

lol even though the Dems got what they wanted they STILL can't be satisfied.:sad2:

*sigh* I'm back at work....been here 2 hours and i finished all the work I have for the day about an hour ago. I think I'm gonna kick back and start reading the manual to the new quilting software I got for Christmas :)

 Merry Christmas to all my wonderful cons! We're about to head to DHS- ToT, RnRC, and TSM are calling my name! :woohoo:

:wave2: Have you had a chance to catch the Candlelight Processional yet? It makes me cry each time I experience it. Virginia Madsen did the reading when we were there this month. She was fantastic.

Oh BTW, I used up those B&N gift cards on Christmas Eve. I am happy to report that I got The Real America (book) and An Inconvenient Truth (audio). Woo hoo!

Hope you're having a great time!

Blago will be lucky is he can find a job cleaning dishes somewhere. As it is, his future employment doesn't look like it's going to be much more than making license plates. And really, anyone who thinks there is a remote connection between Obama and Blago, or for that matter Blago and anyone with half a brain, or a soul, hasn't followed the 'hair' for the last 6 years.

It was a joke :confused3

Have a :flower3: and a happy holiday!

Trying...

Still praying for your friend.

We also watched "A Christmas Story", Elf, Mickey's Christmas Carol, and now that my kids are gone to their dad's, DH is playing with his new Blu-Ray Band of Brothers.

My DH and I  Band of Brothers. That was a great miniseries.

This is nothing compared to what Charade's friend is going through but here's a sad tale about my day....

I went to take a friend her present [a gift card I had put into a Christmas card]. She lives fairly close so I decided to walk over there with my dog [my avatar - a 80-100 lb 1-1/2 year old puppy]. I thought no one would be over there so I would just drop it off.

Well, her 6-year old son was outside playing and, to make a long story shorter, my dog got away from me. I had been holding on to him very tightly, the little boy was riding on his new bike and my dog snipped at him [my dog was playing - but he still outweighed her son by easily 40-60 lbs]. The little boy freaked, ran inside the house - he had to be taken to the emergency room and have 2 stitches.

My friend was so sweet about it but talk about ruining a Christmas! That poor kid and his poor parents!!!!! And, too, apparently this is standard practice - the police had to be notified so the call I got from my friend was, 'If the police call you about this....:scared1: ' [She hurriedly reassured me that they aren't prosecuting, they have pets and understand it was an accident]

UGH...is there a rewind button I could push for today? Oh, and to top it all off, after I got home, I realized that I had forgotten to put the gift card in her Christmas card --- :faint:

 That is so hard to deal with. I had a 90-lb Shephard Husky mix and got a call from the local police one day that he had bit a child! :scared1: Come to find out, my dog had nipped my neighbor's son's ankle. He didn't telll anyone because it didn't break the skin (there was a mark on his ankle though) and they were running and playing. The dog was never off his leash and my daughter had him out in the yard between the houses. Well, the next day the kid has a test at school that he didn't want to take, so he tells the teacher that his ankle hurts because a dog bit him. So the school nurse calls the police (as required by law), the police call me and I had to quarantine the dog for 14 days (if I remember correctly). He was up to date on his shots but it was a law (I lived in NJ at the time.) The boy was very embarrassed, his family was very apologetic and I was just very relieved that my dog didn't hurt him. The dog was really just a big baby (Patches was his name but Cement Head was his nickname!)

I'm glad the child wasn't injured more severely and understand the scare you had. More

We just booked our airfare for a four night stay over the MLK holiday. We fly home on Inaugeration Day. Gosh darn, I'm gonna miss all the "festivities" ;)

Anybody else have trouble sleeping in hotel rooms? I keep waking up during the night. I don't do that at home.

And Mahnah...my sister sent me an email this morning of her family in the snow (I sent her pictures yesterday) and I immediately thought of you . Meet Jubiliee, my sister's dog: :goodvibes

I'm so sorry charade :grouphug:  Prayers have been said.

I am pretty exhausted. I didn't sleep at all, so I lost a whole night of sleep. Our flights were delayed, not due to weather, but crew problems (one was late, another didn't have mandatory rest, etc.)

We went to my mom's and had pasta, and played charades.

Glad you made it OK. If you have a chance go visit the Bellagio conservatory now. It will be decked out for Christmas. One year it was 'snowing' in the conservatory. It gives you chills. :santa:

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! :goodvibes :santa:

It's not over for us yet. Our massive holiday party is Saturday. Inlaws are staying until then. :scared: They went out to the store, so I'm enjoying some quiet. :rolleyes1 DD has made out like a bandit. :cutie: I got my KitchenAid mixer :yay: - so I'm going to attempt to bake cookies today. popcorn::

Have a fun day everyone. :goodvibes

Well, we're headed to the mall on this rainy, cold, dreary day. I have two teenage girls with a couple of gift cards burning a hole in their purses! Anyone else venturing out?

And later I'm thinking about taking down some decorations and reclaiming my home from the Christmas elves. I know it's just the day after — and I'm still feeling plenty of holiday spirit — but mannnn would I like to get a vacuum where that tree is standing!

On the other hand, there is the TV, the remote, and that super cozy throw blanket my SIL game me…

Just checking in. Hope everyone had a great Christmas :santa: . I need to catch up with reading the rest of the threads.

Hello everyone! Merry Belated Christmas to all of you.
As I sit here on my balcony at Old Key West on this beautiful christmas day, awaiting the candlelight processional tonight, I wan to wish all my conservative friends a merry christmas and express how much I have enjoyed the debate over these past few months with you guys, who after all on a day like this are all my countrymen!!.......MERRY CHRISTMAS:)
Thank you! And a belated Christmas to you too.

Hi everyone! All my company is gone, and I'm recovering just like Loco. :) It was a really great day. My parents and my friends made it here just fine, and we all got spoiled rotten. I guess everyone wanted to make sure we had as good a Christmas as possible with my hubby not here.

The internet connection was a little frustrating, but my husband was able to see the kids opening their presents, and hear and talk to all of us at least a little bit throughout the morning.

All in all, it was a really wonderful day, and we feel very blessed. :goodvibes

Merry Christmas everyone (visitors included ;) ).
I'm glad you were able to share Christmas with your husband, even though it was over the internet. When does he come home again? I can't imagine celebrating a holiday without my husband here. You are one strong woman.

Oh no, I am so sorry this happened. I'm glad everyone is okay.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice Christmas. We made it to Las Vegas, after a few schedule mishaps. And guess what? It's snowing in Vegas!!
It's following you. :)

We had a very nice Christmas. The kids got us up too early, but other than that, we had a wonderful time. DH gave me an Ipod, so guess what I'll be doing today? I also got some Target and Barnes and Noble gift cards. Can't wait to use them. :) We were able to travel across the state to see DH's family, so that was nice. The roads were a little iffy on the way back home and we almost hit 4 deer, but we got home safely.

I seriously just woke up about 30 minutes ago - it's 12:10pm right now. I was exhausted. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day today!

I got my KitchenAid mixer :yay: - so I'm going to attempt to bake cookies today. popcorn::
santa brought a kitchenaid mixer to me last year...in RED!!! it lives on my counter and i use it constantly. it was amazing to me how quiet it was (the blades don't hit the sides of the bowl like a hand mixer), and that heavy duty blade is so nice for cookies! hooray!!!!! have fun baking!!!

I have a black one and I love it too. Been using it nonstop over the week. It's wonderful!

above all else, it is super efficient, and i like being able to walk away from...oh...say egg whites....to get something out of the cupboard while it continues working. really great!

 Just wanted to check in and say HEY! It's at least 80 degrees today with zero clouds in the sky! Hit DHS again this morning for TSM and my new favorite besides Soarin'- RnRC! Rode it twice! Once for wardfamily1 per request and the other time for Zip, since his location says G-Force Records Studio C. :teeth: Off to MK after lunch so get your ride requests in now! :thumbsup2 And I'm gone for awhile. :grouphug:

My favorite ride hands down.

Glad you're having a fantabulous time!!!

I am debating heading out. I really want to get out of this house! The road looks pretty good down there. My driveway is still awful, but I think I can get down it. Not real positive about getting back up...

You sound like my husband wanting to take down the tree. My mother was asking me yesterday if I was going to leave the tree up until he came home. I told her probably not, since he is the guy who wants to get it out of the living room the day after Christmas. Once it is over he is DONE with it and wants it all gone and the furniture put back.

Michelle - what a cute jacket that puggy has!!! :goodvibes Great pic!!!

Isn't she just adorable? I'm not sure that's an actual dog jacket. I think I might have seen that jacket on my grand niece when she was a baby. :rotfl: Jubie is a miniature, by the way. She probably only weighs about 3 lbs.

Merry Day After Christmas to you too! My husband comes home on leave Jan 18th. :cool1: He comes home for good some time in early June.

Anybody else have trouble sleeping in hotel rooms? I keep waking up during the night. I don't do that at home.

I do the same thing in hotels, usually three or four times a night, but am always able to drop right back off to sleep within a minute or two. I've always attributed it to being in unfamiliar surroundings and not being entirely comfortable.

Yanno, I'm really tired of the double-standard. I was watching Oprah today and they had Nate (the decorator) on and he redid a kitchen (45 years old and NEVER updated!!!). The family was black. When they had the couple (the daughters sent in the request for the makeover) on the stage after showing the their reaction to Nate's visit (he was waiting for them in the house (which he usually doesn't do)), Oprah said (I'm paraphrasing) "I bet you were wondering what this white boy was doing in your kitchen". The couple only said they were surprised to see a stranger.

Now imagine if it were a white host, a white family and a black decorator and the host said something like that (finding a "black boy in your kitchen") you can bet there would be claims of racism.

Enough is enough already.

I think the next four years are going to show us some double standards that'll make your head spin. Let's start with this: If a Republican president were about to be inaugurated in this bad economy, how many stories do you think we would have seen by now about the "appropriateness" of having a multi-million dollar gala when people are suffering and losing their homes? How many calls would there have been by now for the celebration to be "toned down" out of respect for all the Americans going without this year? Yet, The One will probably have the most expensive inauguration in American history, and not a chirp from the chattering media. They'll trip the light fantastic at their fabulous — and expensive — balls, and no one will say
a word about how tacky it is. But if it were a Republican? They'd be screaming from the top of the New York Times building that he just "doesn't get it."

Oh yeah, ready yourselves for the double-standard bonanza of the next four years. The only silver lining is that being slavish devotees of democrat politicians has just about ruined the American media — NYT stock down 20% this year alone, newspapers all over the country laying off workers — so perhaps they'll be looking for a new approach to bring their value back up — like, ummm, reporting honestly and accurately. (One can dream, right?) :rotfl: :rotfl:
