I borrowed it from someone else on this thread. I think it would make a GREAT thread title.

I went yesterday to look at a Beretta (just for target practice and to keep my skills sharp) Turns out I may have to wait up to 6 months to get a permit to purchase a weapon in my state?:confused3 Looks like it won't be my Christmas present for this year.:sad2:

After the terrorist attack at the Taj Hotel.... I'm now seriously considering getting a conceal and carry permit..... oh and a second smaller pistol. ;)

I do have mine. I'm on the road quite a bit, so I feel safer. I was glad to hae it one day when a man was trying to get in my car in a fit of road rage. But, I'm also married to a reserve police officer, so if they are going to be in the house, I want to know how to use them safely.

You may take a look at glocks, too.

Yes, I was looking the glocks and a springfield XD for the smaller weapon. (I still want a beretta and if I can sweet talk, my sweetie....I'm thinking of either a glock or an XD as my second pistol.)

Well, I'm laying around today, I was going in to work, but don't feel good. Which means I have some interesting thoughts.

So, I was thinking, what would piss off the OS's more in 2012, a Bush (Jeb)/Palin ticket or a Palin/Bush ticket?  :lmao: :lmao:

This is my "smaller" pistol. We got it at a Cabela's for around 200 if I remember correctly. (I got 50 bucks off because it is green not all black). I love this one. I have smaller hands and it came with 2 different grips so one that fits me better and one that works better for DH. Also, you can get a different barrel kit for it to change from a 5inch to 3.5 inch barrel.

DH likes this one so much he got himself a Walther P99 (40 cal). He carries a Beretta for work but likes this one better. It also serves him well because he is a lefty and it is ambidextrous, which not all pistols are. If the safety is on the wrong side it makes it tough for him to fire.

That is SWEEEEEET!

And I definately like the fact that you can get two different grips!

Just googled Cabellas and they have a store in PA..... Now to go find out the gun laws for purchasing a pistol with them. May have to leave said weapon with Charade until I get a permit to own in my state.....Don't worry John. Only joking! I've got gun slinging family in PA that will hold my weapon for me! LOL.

Yes...it is my first gun, (hence being only a .22) but I find it really easy to fire, and it isn't too heavy. Everyone that has seen it (that likes guns) thinks it's an awesome gun. I don't like the look of glocks. Too boxy for my liking. I will get the barrel kit for it but the longer barrel is more accurate for me until I get more accustomed to shooting.

Just FYI-When I bought this I got my clearance in about 30 minutes to purchase....but then again I live in Texas. ;)

An added bonus---Airsoft makes BOTH the Walther P22 and P99 models so we have an airsoft of both we can use here in the backyard and such. Much cheaper than buying tons of rounds for target practice.

Just did a quick look into PA laws.... looks complicated unless I already have my own state permit. (Which I will apply for tomorrow and have been warned to expect 3-6 month turn around.:scared1: )

Guess I'm looking at getting family member to buy it for me and hold it until I get back from deployment. You gave me another great idea.... my brother lives in Texas!

wow you have some strict laws up there. I don't have my CHL (yet) so mine is just registered, but I can't carry concealed.

Believe you me.... it was a surprise to us when the dealer told me how long it may take.... said it depends on my local police department. The dealers wouldn't even let me TOUCH a weapon without my permit.

My nephew is a fed in another state, he was flabbergasted by the experience yesterday. He actually convinced me to apply for a concealled/carry while I'm going through the initial paper work.

I don't have my concealed/carry papers; haven't filed for them and won't until we move to CA. Not sure what the waiting time is for them there but that won't preclude me target practicing on the guns we already own. DH has a .22 pistol and a .22 rifle; used to have 9mm that we bought back in OK but it jammed and the manufacturer quit making them. I know how to shoot and I shoot well, so if you bust in my house and then run I'm capable of hitting you. :rotfl: :cool2:

I had a friend of mine point out a gun that was pink with a green grip and barrel stripe and said it was 'girl-appropriate'. I told him no because that's not easily concealed and the point of a concealed gun is protection, not to announce to everyone that you're carrying.

yeah, I noticed at the last gun show we went to that there were several small caliber weapons being made in pink....like that is supposed to appeal to the female audience.

Newsflash for the gun manufacturers...most of the women who would even consider owning a gun in the first place, are not "pink" kind of gals;)

I get so annoyed with marketing for sports teams, etc, that all seem to think us women only want something with their logo if it is redone in pink. Last time I checked there was no pink in football, baseball, or the military. I refuse to buy any of that crap. If I want to wear a logo for a team, or something that says I'm a military wife, then give it to me in it's proper color scheme or don't give it to me at all. (rant over)

Heee....the ads at the bottom of my page are for shopping.com - what are they listing? Guns!

Our church supports missionaries who live in Nigeria. Here's an excerpt of their most recent prayer letter:

There is currently unrest and riots in Jos following the elections. Tensions are high, security personnel are active. The situation is not stable yet. As far as we know, all expatriate and missionary personnel are safe....

We are so very thankful for people who gave us the "heads-up" because the trouble was reported after our daughter had started to school. We were able to contact the driver and tell him of the difficulties and have him return the kids back home. Often they travel through the very area that was hardest hit today.

Please pray for peace to be restored to Jos. Pray for the families that are affected by these incidents not only by deaths, but also by the emotional trauma that surrounds these kinds of troubles.

At this point we are very safe here in ___, and look forward to a quiet weekend. We have put together a "flee" bag, but expect that it is a precautionary measure that will not be needed.

Pray with us for peace to return to Nigeria. We do not want things to escalate, and at this point no one really knows what tomorrow will bring.

Whatever our problems here are, thankfully we have gotten to this point yet. :sad2: A 'flee' bag - I cannot even imagine...

JB, you rock, you're my she-ro!

You are the quintessential domestic goddess, making even camouflage fabric look beautiful and then you pack heat. You are one well-rounded lady.

I like pink things - but even I would have to stop at a pink gun.

How's your Jacob doing?

And Tink, this was your baby's first Thanksgiving, wasn't it? How'd he do?

You're not alone. My SO feels the same way. She's a big Astros fan, but a lot of their merchandise they sell for women is in pink. When we visited their shop at Minute Maid Park this past Summer, not only were most of the items for women in pink, but they were way too "girly" for her. All the jerseys and T-shirts she owns are just smaller sized men's items.

Who says that Christmas shopping has to be hard this year, with beauties like these just a click away?

Interesting in a  sort of way -- from the Chris Matthews Show...

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Despite his best efforts, Barack Obama couldn't stop all that internet chatter from the radical right that he's actually a Muslim or an actual terrorist sympathizer. Even up to Election Day 12% of Americans thought Obama is a Muslim. At times McCain rallies even played on those doubts. Here's a conservative radio talk show host at one of those rallies.

CONSERVATIVE TALK SHOW HOST: At some point the media will quit taking sides in this thing, and maybe start covering Barack Hussein Obama.

MATTHEWS: When Obama won, Muslims in Africa and elsewhere rejoiced. No surprise, and so now, irony of ironies, al Qaeda is worried, al Qaeda is worried that Obama’s global popularity will hurt their appeal around the world. David, I'm fascinated by this. To what extent do they see him as a son of that part of the world, being from a Swahili name, a father from Kenya, with that name, Barack Hussein Obama, how much do they see as one of their own and therefore a popular figure?
DAVID IGNATIUS, WASHINGTON POST: Well, they don't know yet, but you can see that they're excited at the possibility that this really is a different kind of American president. How amazing his middle name is Hussein. Can this really be? And this is a world that has really grown to hate the United States. I’m sorry to say, in the numbers, if you read the polls, that this should worry all of us. So, you can see it in the statement recently by the number two in al Qaeda, Ayman Zawahiri, this racist statement describing Obama as a house Negro…What that shows me is that they are really unsettled by this. This is not the kind of president they're used to facing. In a sense, I shouldn’t say this, but Bush was comfortable for them because he was an easy adversary for them. Obama’s a very different kind of person. All across the Muslim Middle East I find these groups are looking out Obama, kind of revaluating their positions. You see that with Hamas. You see it in Syria. In Iran there's a great debate going on how about how do we deal with this guy, this force in America and world politics.

MATTHEWS: One reason for the rage from the east, and I’m no expert. All these years that have led to the terrorism, the undercurrent of rage against the west, us, is the sense that we have disrespected them, their culture, we have looked down on them. In fact, we have defeated them technologically in some cases. But there’s that sense that they feel they're reacting to the hatred of the west. By electing somebody with this name, are we going to diffuse some of that? I think that would be very hopeful if we could.

KATTY KAY, BBC: Yeah, I think it really does undermine some of that knee-jerk criticism of America. It's much harder if you're in the Middle East now to stand up and reject an American president whose middle-name is Hussein. It just, it just is.

so....if I'm reading this correctly, the rest of the world was 'unsettled' by H's election, because of his middle name ....
the terrorists from the Middle East are mad at us because we have 'disrespected' them in the past
now that we have a POTUS-elect with the same middle name as lots of people in the Middle East, we'll be able to diffuse this anger?!?!?!?

Oh goodie, who knew that the fact of someone's middle name could have the potential for bringing about so much peace in this world?!?!?!?!?

But, now we have heard it from Tingly himself -- H, by virtue of his middle name, will turn around that hatred that terrorists have felt against the mean ole US of A all these years....I'll remember this the next time I'm criticized for referencing it.

arrggghhhh....

I like pink, too. But I draw the line at pink guns. Or pink boots or, if I were to own one, a pink cowboy hat.
He loved it. He was making "nom nom nom" noises during the prayer. He ate turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole...and nearly knodded off during dinner. :rotfl:
