Conservative Thread: We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once

Hello everybody! :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Here lately I am convinced that at least some leftists are targeting conservative posters. They are trying to bait. I don't know how organized this is, nor exactly how many are doing it. But I'm sure it's part of their goal of silencing differing points of view. Luckily it fairly transparent. It doesn't require a ton of rhetorical skill to navigate those waters.

I agree with you. If we recognize it as bait, we should ignore it. It seems that SP is a popular bait tactic.

And if they post here on this thread, you know - 'accidentally' :rolleyes1 , we should ignore that, as well.
Some are also trying to go after certain posters of ours personally. To deliberatley try and smear other posters just for their political beliefs is a shame. :sad2:

Same here! Must be a Con thing.. we actually read for content, first! Those pretty speechesImeanpictures don't iimpress us!

I had to read it again, and it wasn't until I sat back and pondered that it jumped out at me!

I did the same thing!

:lmao: :lmao:

Back to a comment by loco, who mentioned that, in any debate with a lib, they will always mention the evil of Karl Rove.....

interesting that Mr Rove has been quite complimentary of H's new appointees...

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122783239069463007.html

Will they still think Rove is evil? Or that he has seen the light? :rolleyes1

I think Rove is messin' with Obama. Look at it this way: If Karl Rove likes your appointments, then you aren't making a lot of hopey-changey appointments. He concluded that Obama's economic appointees were "mainstream" — meaning they aren't the loony left we had anticipated. But then he goes on to say that for health care, Obama has made some truly scary appointments, he has no plan for economic stimulus, and he's making noise about "growing" the deficit. I think Rove's column was balanced, but still deeply skeptical. The question still lingers: Who will set the agenda — the centrists Obama has appointed or the radical leftists he has appointed? I think we all know a thing or two about trying to reason with leftists, so my guess is that the centrists will be gone by year two or three. They're there to fix the economy; the others are there to draft massive social welfare legislation. The first has to occur before the latter.

Did you see the latest SP thread? It looks like the moderates are tired of the SP bashing and it's starting to have a negative impact again like it did at first.

Good news - on the Coleman/Franken front --

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/29/minnesota-recount-frankens-sore-loser-strategy/

The setback at the Canvassing Board has forced Al Franken to face the fact that he didn’t get enough valid votes to beat Norm Coleman in Minnesota’s Senate Race. With the rejection of his bid to get the panel to add in thousands of rejected absentee ballots, there seems little chance that the remaining 15% of ballots left in the recount will produce the kind of change that 85% has not. What’s a surly, self-absorbed DFL candidate to do?

Bad news - so what is Franken to do?

Sue, of course - or let the Senate decide?!?!?!?!? What the heck?!?!??

Minnesota’s U.S. Senate showdown is veering down a path toward the courts and possibly the Senate itself after a panel’s ruling on rejected absentee ballots dealt a blow to Democrat Al Franken’s chances.

For the first time, his campaign on Wednesday openly discussed mounting challenges after the hand recount involving Franken and Republican Sen. Norm Coleman concludes. That includes the possibility of drawing the Senate into the fracas.

The state Canvassing Board denied Franken’s request to factor absentee ballots rejected by poll workers into the recount. He sought to overturn the exclusions in cases where ballots were invalidated over signature problems or other voter errors. Coleman’s campaign maintained the board lacked power to revisit those ballots.

Interesting article about the newest form of communication and how the Dems beat the Repubs to it:

http://townhall.com/columnists/HughHewitt/2008/11/28/all_a-twitter__a_late_adapter_alert

I'm about as technologically advanced as Fred Flintstone - does anyone more savvy use Twitter?

I use my cell phone merely to call people. No camera, no games, no email - just call. So I'm not sure this would be useful. But I was wondering if it had other applications.

Oh, and here's a beginner's guide, from the above article:

http://davidallgroup.com/twitter-101-guide [but you have to sign up at the site to get the guide, phooey]

I know this is a bit OT, but I found the coolest thing today.

I was at the Dollar Tree looking for scented Christmas candles. Consequently all I found were smelly candles. Why do all the candles there smell like stinky feet?
I digress; I didn't find any good candles because they were all cleaned out. But I did find Disney Christmas window clings! :thumbsup2
I got Pooh/Tigger/Eeyore/Piglet and Tinkerbell! Yay!
