Conservative Thread: We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once

I hope it was a good Thanksgiving for everyone. It sure was for us.

Scanning over the last several pages I see that we had quite a bit of company today. Some comments just serve to remind me that liberals HATE conservatives, and see us as a threat that must be silenced and eliminated. I think they want us to be afraid to speak out, and look forward to the day when we cease to exist. In many ways they fancy us as enemies. :sad2: Their aggressive intolerance is easy to read and luckily easy to throw back in their face.

I've often heard it said that Conservatives think liberals are wrong, and liberals think Conservatives are evil. By making Conservative thought evil, racist, intolerant, etc., liberals can rationalize all their illiberal efforts to silence, intimidate, and destroy. Liberals don't disagree with Conservative leaders, they revile them, seek to imprison them, celebrate when they get cancer, take a bad fall, or die (see the Ann Coulter comments on a certain thread right now). And worst of all, they desire to use the power of government to silence anyone with whom they disagree, thus criminalizing Conservative political thought and rhetoric (see Canada's "human rights" kangaroo courts as an example — it's coming to an American court near you!). The liberal concept of "tolerance" is now completely reconstructed to mean that all who disagree must be silenced and destroyed — all dissent is "intolerant." It really is stunning to watch. So much cognitive dissonance. I think that's why they're so cranky all the time.

Seeing to trend. Some on the other side of the aisle can't even capitalize the the name of Republicans or use thier title, but never miss properly posting thier people's names and titles. And now, some can't even capitalize the word Republican, when in the same sentence they capitalize Democrat. That sez alot about those people.

But they get apoplectic when some use 'H'.

How many days til you go to WDW?

25 more days! (And I'm at Disney for 11 days!! :woohoo: )

I had a great day today being with family and pigging out. I'm still coughing and hacking like a ten pack a day smoker, especially first thing in the morning. It's worrying me...I'm afraid I'll wind up with pneumonia if I can't clear this gunk out soon. I'm going through the medicinal herb tea, and hopefully it will go away sometime soon. I don't feel all that bad, but I sound horrible.

You and debbieandroo, hurry up and finished being sick. I'm almost over mine and then no more sickness allowed for any of us. ::yes::

I know it.

The things they've been saying lately get nastier and nastier by the minute. I thought their attacks would cease after 11/4..... guess not!!!:headache:

I agree. It's really weird. They're attacks lately have become more vicious than ever. I have no idea what keeps setting them off. You would have thought that with the election being over we’d be on their ignore list since their guy had won but we’re not. They are choosing to become offended over anything we say and attack us. Very strange. :confused3

I'm not gone yet.... hold on.... post #1400 is spend here!!!! :woohoo:
:thumbsup2

Wow, so the conversation is not usually this lively or petty? I am new here and figured this was what every day was like for a Dis-Con. I suppose reminding the libs that they are on conservative turf and will have to take us on our own terms would only be redundant, then. Hope they had their fun and are back to stomping out cigarettes, crying over artificial preservatives, and eating soy products, all for the sake of living lives of "purity," while attempting to push the boundries on the actual virtue. That sounds like a good time, does it not?!

One good holiday celebrating American capitalism deserves another, so I wish everyone a Happy Black Friday. Who knew that in this economy the free market can still get people out of bed at 4am? Let us pray we will be so fortunate a year from now!

Happy Black Friday to you too! I was almost tempted to go out this morning after spotting an ad last night for something that I want but then common sense took over. :teeth: I have a "been there, done it, not going back" Black Friday badge of honor already. I don't need another one.

But, no, our thread usually doesn't contain this much drama. I have no idea why we keep getting so many visitors. We had a couple of nasty and uncalled for posts put on this thread by our visitors the other day but usually they're just in here (when they show up) to pot-stir and create drama. I honestly think that their intention is to shut down our thread.

I've found them to by quite hypocritical in a lot of what they bash us over. Sadly, they’re unwilling to see that.

I was remiss in not welcoming you yesterday -- so, WELCOME!

Thank you for your posts - they were spot-on -- sorry that you had to get into such a sparring match right off the bat. And congratulations on your externship.

I guess their only means to silence our message is to demean and demonize the messengers....they must know then that we are right.

25 more days!!!!! And please don't get sick again!!!!

And you're right - THEIR GUY WON!!!!! How many times do we tell them that before they figure it out?

But maybe this can remind us that we're not as irrelevant as they would like for us to think we are....:thumbsup2

I don't know what it is, but the libs are so enamored of their guy that they can't fathom that we won't worship him too. Somehow it doesn't seem to be enough for them that their guy won. They are just completely bothered that we haven't "seen the light and the hope". I've said it before. It is just creepy. I feel like they are attempting to indoctrinate us into a cult.

Now someone said about the O breaking his campaign promises, and the response was, bacisally, 'So...? We voted for change...and he is the change we voted for, not his promises. And what politician doesn't break his promises?'

Why does this snippet from the Hobbit come to mind?

'Good morning' said Bilbo, and he meant it. The sun was shining, and the grass was very green. But Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out further than the brim of his shady hat.
'What do you mean?' he said. 'Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?'
'All of them at once,' said Bilbo....

'Good morning!' he said at last. 'We don't want any adventures here, thank you! You might try over The Hill or across The Water.' By this, he meant the conversation was at an end.
'What a lot of things you do use Good morning for!' said Gandalf. 'Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till I move off.'

Clever!

I would add that Obama's broken promises appear to be headed toward maintaining the status quo — what some have called the Bush 3 term — so now his supporters have broken promises, AND no change. All that's left is hope, and that can't last long. :rotfl:

As my DMIL says (actually a paraphrase, since she speaks quite colorfully): 'Poop in one hand and hope in the other and see which one fills up faster.'

Many of them won't capitalize Bush (or even spell his name correctly) either. In fact, many won't even refer to him as their president. I'm sure you saw a number of liberals after the election say "I'm finally proud of my country again..." or something to that effect. From my observations, most Conservatives seem to be proud of their country no matter who is in charge, while many liberals appear to be proud of it only when their guy is in charge. How many times have you heard "I am ashamed to be an American" from the left over the past 8 years?

lots. over and over and over again. so i wonder why they don't leave america to go live in a country where things are run more to their liking, or why people flock here only to vote to change how things are run here. i've actually asked these questions of those who seem especially unhappy with our great country, and guess what...i never hear any sort of response. go figure.

No worries mate. This thread always goes through "lively" spurts.

Welcome to the thread!

LOL! and Bully Brits righ back :)

that is a really interesting point and one I agree with. We are in a 'population' sense a far less patriotic country compared to the US. Having flags hanging in our front yards is not what we do - infact if you do you are not seen as patriotic - more likey labelled as a football fan!

We should be more patriotic. And we find the US patriotism quite 'scary' in some ways. We do consider ourselves far more wordly than most americans, in terms that we know there is no one country that is No.1, and we would never dare to suggest we were, whereas many Americans consider the US the be all and end all. All countries have their own merits and failings, the US and UK certainly included - theres more to the world than the borders of our countries.
So many sterotypes, so little time.

So where does it end?
When you hold your liberal friends to the same standards that you hold the conservatives.

Just a question, but what would the conversation look like if your 6 year old was the one who was being hit first for several months? Would you still not care who started it?

Or, even better illustration, suppose it was your 6 DD who was the one that had been starting it for several months and finally her friend started it? My conversation wouldn't be I don't care who started it, but more in line with "well, you are getting a taste of your own medicine".

Good points What the Heck.

Happy Black Friday to you too! I was almost tempted to go out this morning after spotting an ad last night for something that I want but then common sense took over. :teeth: I have a "been there, done it, not going back" Black Friday badge of honor already. I don't need another one.

I went out this morning for my first ever Black Friday shopping experience. N-E-V-E-R again. I guess I was bummed out anyway because the big Lego set I went out for...isn't stocked in Alaska. :( So I picked up some little stuff...and came home. I would not have gotten up so early and tried to exist on so little sleep for the few things I did get.

Oh well...it was something I did want to experience at least once. But that was enough...:thumbsup2

It was a zoo up here...but then again, I haven't gone shopping on this day before, so I have nothing to compare it to...

Yeah, that seems to be the case with people I know.

Yeah, he's certainly below my pray grade.

I pray to a much higher power than the mighty H (hehe)

Since, WHEN are the dems going to let a little thining like "facts" change their opinions?:rotfl: I KNOW......but, I don't think "H" is going to freeze over anytime soon.;)

Did you hear about the Wal-Mart employee that was killed by the crowds this morning in New York?

I was reading an article about this a couple of minutes ago. A crowd of about 2000 people rushed the doors to get in and stampeded over him in the process. No one stopped, they just stepped over him. The article that I read said that some other Wal-Mart employees were attempting to get to the man to help him but they couldn't because of the people. Now there's a video up:

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=4226712&cl=10876984&src=news

The sad thing about this video (at least the way it was edited) only one kid being interviewed seemed to understand how horrible it is that a life was lost for electronics. The others seemed to be making excuses for why it happened: "people wanted their tv's" "the guy only let in a couple of people and then said no more and everyone was angry because they've been there since 10:00 last night" ect..

Again, maybe it was just editing and the others interviewed weren't as callous as they came across. But it's sickening that a man had to lose his life because people wanted a tv.
