Did you hear about the Wal-Mart employee that was killed by the crowds this morning in New York?

I was reading an article about this a couple of minutes ago. A crowd of about 2000 people rushed the doors to get in and stampeded over him in the process. No one stopped, they just stepped over him. The article that I read said that some other Wal-Mart employees were attempting to get to the man to help him but they couldn't because of the people. Now there's a video up:

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=4226712&cl=10876984&src=news

The sad thing about this video (at least the way it was edited) only one kid being interviewed seemed to understand how horrible it is that a life was lost for electronics. The others seemed to be making excuses for why it happened: "people wanted their tv's" "the guy only let in a couple of people and then said no more and everyone was angry because they've been there since 10:00 last night" ect..

Again, maybe it was just editing and the others interviewed weren't as callous as they came across. But it's sickening that a man had to lose his life because people wanted a tv.

it is revolting. and some guy in palm springs shot a guy today at toys r us. what is WITH people? and that flat screen deal at wal mart was available online, so again i ask, what is WITH people?

I don't know what it is, but the libs are so enamored of their guy that they can't fathom that we won't worship him too. Somehow it doesn't seem to be enough for them that their guy won. They are just completely bothered that we haven't "seen the light and the hope". I've said it before. It is just creepy. I feel like they are attempting to indoctrinate us into a cult.

We experienced this infatuation of H just the other day. We were at a local small business, the kind that is going to get nailed by tax increases if H has his way, and overheard an employee talking to a couple of OS that came in. Of course you can't work and worship 'the one' at the same time, so she had to drop what she was doing to talk. They went on on how they are "amazed at how brilliant he is.....and what a speaker, he is the best public that speaker they have ever heard. Every time he speaks...they are so moved by him. He is just so amazing.....and MO, she is so beautiful and so smart. She will be the best first lady ever."

It went on and on like this. It was so cult like, it was spooky.:scared1:

Even though I was ready to vomit, we did have a chuckle after we left because we know that if taxes on small businesses are raised....The business owners will have to cut back and they will keep the hard working employees we saw and get rid of the lazy one who had time to drop what they were doing and drool over BO with some OS!

:rotfl:

Disclaimer: The use of H, BO, MO, and 'the one' are used as abbreviations for names and are not meant in any other way.

Just wanted to put that in because of yesterday!:goodvibes

Such a tragedy for an item.

I stayed home today. I almost went out the door at 4am, but I couldn't convince anyone to go with me! I guess I saved even more by not spending any, eh?

For those that didn't have to work today, I hope you had a great day!

for all those online shoppers out there, i wanted to make sure y'all knew about ebates.com. you go to this site, then look for the vendor you want (target, nordstrom, amazon...whatev), and start shopping. your purchases are tracked, and you receive a check in the mail for some certain percent of your purchases. the rebate amount varies by vendor. in the three years since i registered, i have received over $600 in rebates. OH!!! the best thing is that the service is free!!!

the disney shopping site offers an 8% rebate.

Smart :thumbsup2 No one was out of hand up here, but it was pretty busy. I am NOT a morning person, so I was amazed at how many people were up and about this early...:scared1:

Funny thing is...I really didn't find any deals I was all that interested in. Like I said, they didn't have the Lego I saw online, so I just picked up a Wall-E thing, and an erector set...and that was it. I headed home. It wasn't bad crazy...as a matter of fact, I've never checked out so quickly. But, I just don't like getting that little of sleep...:faint: I am going to be dragging all day...

Oh...thanks for letting me know about that. I "love" online shopping. I'm going to check this out. Thank you! :goodvibes

Gotta' love online shopping...anytime you want, in the comfort of your own home, shipped to your house...way more my style. :thumbsup2

you're welcome. i love online shopping too. saves so much time, and when the price of gas was so high, it made more sense. i figure that with the rebates, i'm paying for the shipping, not paying for gasoline to run around, not wasting my time, and so end up paying less overall.

whenever we have a large-ish purchase to make, i look at different models in the stores to find the one i want, then look for a vendor on ebates. washer/dryers, refrigerators, t.v.s, water heaters, etc., even my kitchenaid stand mixer...they all really paid off.

Absolutely...I so agree!

Hi, everybody. So, is a conservative Independant welcome here or just the Republicans (I capitalize the word Republican every time.)

If not, I have just read 52 pages to find personal sanity.:thumbsup2 Needed it after the thread I have secretly renamed "Obama's Slamming Supporters"-the one about his "National Youth Movement". Some how it got into a discussion of gun rights (and we know how our POTUS, elect feels about guns & bibles...:lmao: ). Since the poster did not list the "link" up & instead put the information in the quote...the Obama supporters decided it was inadmissable. No link to click on...therefore it was a conspiracy to discredit Obama.:lmao:

Understand why I needed a sip of sanity?

Is our country really this gulliable? :sad2:

Welcome aboard.:thumbsup2 We have several Independents, and even a couple of Democrats, who prefer to hang here.:dance3:

hi. i'm a vegetarian. :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl: Well, you won't have to worry about me biting you.:lmao:
I don't eat Pork (religous thing)so, I get the "meat" thing...to each their own. I only have a problem with those who don't eat meat but wear leather, make-up full of animal biproducts, and use things that are tested on animals...then try to tell me that I am mean for munching meat. So, my siggie is in answer to "those" types...no offense meant to anyone else.

I promise I won't force you/or convince you to eat meat (or veggies cooked in meat fat) if you never try to convince me that grated up sausage on a pizza is not eating pork.:thumbsup2 And yes, I have actually had people use that argument on me..."but it is just a little piece of sausage.":lmao:

Hi there! You're welcome here. This is not a lock-step thread. ;) SM already told you we even have Dem friends here. As for me, I guess I fall into the "moderate" category, and I'm registered Independent. People here are very friendly and kind, and we can even manage to disagree and have a little debate now and then without calling each other any names.

You're not an intruder!! You are very welcome here!!

Thanks guys~ I appreciate it! I usually try to stay away from the political stuff....I get a little fired up.

I haven't read this entire post, but enjoy a good conversation....I'll be in and out and reading with joy! LOL :thumbsup2

Wow, so the conversation is not usually this lively or petty? I am new here and figured this was what every day was like for a Dis-Con. I suppose reminding the libs that they are on conservative turf and will have to take us on our own terms would only be redundant, then. Hope they had their fun and are back to stomping out cigarettes, crying over artificial preservatives, and eating soy products, all for the sake of living lives of "purity," while attempting to push the boundries on the actual virtue. That sounds like a good time, does it not?!

One good holiday celebrating American capitalism deserves another, so I wish everyone a Happy Black Friday. Who knew that in this economy the free market can still get people out of bed at 4am? Let us pray we will be so fortunate a year from now!

Hey there!!!! Welcome!!!!:woohoo:

I've found them to by quite hypocritical in a lot of what they bash us over. Sadly, they’re unwilling to see that.
:thumbsup2

Well we STILL ain't drinking the Kool-Aid!!!!! And I think it makes them :furious:!

A man told me this at work today. I was shocked. I then told my mom, and five seconds after I told her, the story was on the news. My thoughts and prayer are with this Wal-Mart employee's loved ones. Shame he died so a bunch of idiots could get some da*n television set.:sad2:

No name calling? On the dis? That is possible?:lmao: Does this mean I won't be called a racist because I am concerned about someone's friend's beliefs? I don't know what to say to that. Except maybe, "wowwwww!"

i ate and wore just about anything until a few years ago, when i was suddenly enlightened by "some things" happening in korea. the more aware i became of "some things" going on in the rest of the world having to do with animals, the more impossible it was for me to think about eating meat.

and yet, when i drive by the outback or smell bacon frying in the morning somewhere in the neighborhood, it brings back the memories. oh...and the patty melts!!! anyway, there are sufficient soy-imitating-meat products to keep me happy. and i wear my remaining leather items only until they wear out, and then replace with non-leather.

welcome, though. welcome, welcome, welcome.
