This sums me up perfectly!!!

You Are Blitzen

blitzen.gif

Always in good spirits, you're the reindeer who loves to party down with Santa.

Why You're Naughty: You're always blitzed on Christmas Eve, while flying!

Why You're Nice: You mix up a mean eggnog martini.

Which of Santa's Reindeer Are You?

From Washington Post and Newsweek --

http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/undergod/2008/12/godbless_america.html

if I'm not mistaken, this David Waters is the same who writes [wrote?] for our local paper, in the religion section. He was hardly evangelical or conservative, though so this is a pretty interesting perspective:

God Bless America

Normally, I'm for keeping church and state out of each other's business as much as humanly possible, mostly to protect religion from government intrusion and idolatry, but also to protect us from zealots who think Jesus wears an American flag lapel pin.

Inserting "under God" into the Pledge of Allegiance and adding "In God We Trust" to our money diminishes religious faith, which recognizes no national borders or economic systems. And it disrespects America's pluralistic promise.

But lately, I'm beginning to think that evangelical Christians who are complaining about the "War on God in America" have a point.

"There's a terrible movement to rewrite our history and obscure our faith," J. Randy Forbes, a Republican congressman from Virginia, told the National Review this week.

I don't know about a movement, but things are getting a bit suspicious.

Take the new $621 million capitol Visitor Center, which opened this week to mixed reviews. Among the critics were Sen. Jim DeMint, a South Carolina Republican who several weeks ago noticed that something was missing from a center's replica of the House Speaker's rostrum. The words "In God We Trust" -- engraved over the actual rostrum in 1962 -- were not included in the replica.

The center identified "E. Pluribus Unum" (rather than "In God We Trust") as the official national motto. Displays deleted these words from Article 3 of the Northwest Ordinance; "Religion, morality, and knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind..."; and the words "in the Year of Our Lord" from Article 7 of the Constitution.

DeMint and dozens of other congressmen objected and the deleted phrases were restored. But Demint, Forbes and still aren't happy about other godless aspects of the center, especially this quote etched into a wall near the entrance: "We have built no temple but the Capitol. We consult no common oracle but the Constitution." That's a quote from 19th Century Congressman Rufus Choate of Massachusetts.

"This is an intentional misrepresentation of our nation's real history and an offensive refusal to honor America's God-given blessings," DeMint told James Rosen of McClatchy Newspapers.

DeMint and other concerned evangelicals say this is only the latest in a series of attempts to erase God from public life in Washington.

* Neither the World War II Memorial (2004) nor the FDR Memorial (1997) -- Washington's two newest monuments -- contain references to God. The WWII memorial includes a God-related quote from Eisenhower's D-Day message, but it ends just before the general seeks "the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."

* In 2007, a replica of the Washington Monument's aluminum cap, on display inside the monument, recently was turned so that the words "Laus Deo" (Latin for 'Praise be to God') were no longer visible to vistors. After receiving 28,000 email complaints, the National Park Service said it was a simple mistake and they'd turn it back.

* In 2007, after protests from House Republican Leader John Boehner and others, the Office of the Architect of the Capitol reversed its stated policy of removing references to God or religion from certificates that were given to citizens along with flags flown ceremonially over the Capitol.

* The new John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollar, released earlier this year, contained the words "In God We Trust" along the edge of the coin rather than on its face. After receiving many complaints, the U.S. Mint announced that the motto will appear on the heads side of the 2009 Adams dollars.

FDR talked publicly about God as much as any president. Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Churchill and other leaders delivered public prayers during World War II. Nearly every major public building and monument in Washington has at least one reference to God.

Separation of church and state is vital to our liberty. But trying to scrub from American history or public life every reference to God or faith isn't just silly. It's inaccurate and misleading.

So do you stay due to DH's job or for the love of MI?
*raising hand*

We have a love hate relationship with this state! Ok, its the only one we really know, we were both born and raised here and have lived only a few miles apart our entire lives until we met and married. *weird??!!* I hate winter, but he used to snowmobile race. I think he hates winter now. He hunts and lives to hunt and fish. His job is here as is our house which is worth about 40-50 percent less than it was a few years ago. Hard to up and leave when you can't get rid of your house!

...and what would I do if someone asked where I lived and I couldn't just point to my hand and say "here!":confused3 :rotfl:

*going to go do some of those quizes*

*saying prayers that the F18 crash is just a plane and houses, NO PEOPLE!* I know the story keeps evolving as they get more information.

You Are Vixen

Sexy and sultry, you're the one all the other reindeer dream about.

Why You're Naughty: That fur pulling spat you got into with Dancer over Santa.

Why You're Nice: Because even when you're nice, you're still delightfully naughty!

Which of Santa's Reindeer Are You?

*totally cracking up* Funny, I don't feel like Vixen lately!

Mine's - A Christmas Story: Loving, fun, and totally crazy.
Don't shoot your eye out!
:thumbsup2 :rotfl:
Does anyone else find it deliciously ironic that the party of love and tolerance keeps getting threads closed — for being hateful and intolerant!
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I know. And WE are supposed to be the bad guys? They can't seem to get a handle on all their nasty comments.:sad2:

Hi all. Hope everyone's well. Please say a prayer for one of my family members. Someone's having some testing done, and I'm worried about how it'll turn out.

Please continue to pray for me too, while you're at it. Appreciate it.

Sounds soooo cute!! Where did you find it?:santa:
Santa Donald was a gift from my mom a couple Christmases ago. It came from Disneyshopping.com. Will post a pic later.

OMGoodness
I am finally caught up.
I posted a few threads ago, that I was not feeling well.
It appears that the reason is that I might have a heart problem
I had an EKG that turned out to be abnormal.
I have a stress test scheduled for Thursday of this week.
I would appreciate prayers and good thoughts
PS I don't know how to add the snowball thingie, but I would love to add it.
 Prayer said, and will continue to pray for you each night. My dad had an abnormal EKG years ago and had to go through the stress test and some other tests as well. Turned out he was completely fine. I will be praying you have the same type of outcome.

What I can't believe is some people from the Dark Side who are defending poor misunderstood Bill Ayers. Using quotes from Bill Ayers to do so. Because he was so innocent. Please.
I read as much of that as I could stand a few minutes ago. Unbelievable. :sad2:

I woke up really depressed today, missing my mom. This is my first Christmas without her. Came on the CB for a little fun and opened that above mentioned thread. Needless to say, it didn't cheer me a bit.
 I'm sorry, A&D. I'll say a prayer for you too.

Ok, I've never posted a picture before, so here goes...

Did I do the picture right? I've never used Photobucket-should I change the link or something?

The birthday girl liked it, that's what counts!
That's an awesome cake, Mikelly! Great job! :thumbsup2

I just realized the thread I started regarding the cheers President Bush received at the Army/Navy game got shut down last night. Figures. The haters were out in full force, I see. Oh well. I don't care what they say. I am proud to be an American, I am proud of President Bush, I appreciate everything he has done for us and for doing all he could to keep us safe, and I know that "hate" poisons our hearts, minds and souls, so the haters can keep their hate and hateful words.

Imagine, not knowing the difference between raucous cheers for someone you really appreciate and respect, and cheering because you feel you have to. I know people are alot smarter than the hate they spew, but if it makes them feel better, I guess they can have at it. It's just a sad, sad way to live in my opinion.

Enough of that though! Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone is doing well, and that your weekend was fun. I had a great time being in my cousin's wedding yesterday. It was a beautiful ceremony, and we had a blast at the reception.:woohoo:
Glad you had a nice time at the wedding and reception. :goodvibes

I'm Rudolph.

Sweet and shy, you tend to be happiest when you're making someone else happy.

Why You're Naughty: You sometimes stick that nose where it doesn't belong

Why You're Nice: Christmas would be a sad affair without you!

What Jones Holiday Soda Are You?
I am Pecan Pie Soda: Sweet but totally nuts. :lmao:
You Are Broccoli Casserole Soda. :crazy2:
Vegetarians taste better!
 I'm not a vegetarian!

See that there is another "religion" thread...haven't checked it out, yet. Have a feeling it maybe a trap. Nothing like being belittled for what I know in my heart. I think we, Christians, are the only ones it seems okay to make prejudiced comments about...guess, I just have to keep it in perspective. And I have to admit...something outrageous, downright absurd stuff is almost funny because it is SO off based. Like the one about the Rapture...where they tried to link Sarah Palin with the Iraq War because Christians want the Rapture to hurry up & happen.Their latest conspiracy was that we, Christians, were starting it all. :sad2: I suppose it takes all types & they are entitled to their opinions...but I think a good roll of duct tape fixes most problems. ;)
Uh huh...

Hmm. Well, I'm a Christian, and personally I like living. Personally I'm not in any hurry for the End Days. :confused3

YOu and your family member are both in my prayers.

 I'm sorry, A&D. I'll say a prayer for you too.

Thank you so much, I am feeling a bit better today so I think all the prayers from my friends here on the community board and over on WISH have found thier mark!

Ahh I see the Bill Ayers thread has been shut down. What a real shame. I was so enjoying learning new things about Bill and his sweet wife and all the good they have done for this country. Just a real shame that one is now gone. Not! That thread and Theresa's have really made me sorry I have to share a planet with some of these people.

I am a broccoli casserole soda. Hmm, sounds kinda tasty!

So my big moment for this weekend is that my all time favorite Christmas movie has been released on DVD. Its called the House Without a Christmas Tree. Made for tv movie that came out in 1972 starring Jason Robards. I love that movie and my old VHS copy has about had it so I was pretty darn happy to see it on Amazon. Can't wait to get it this week and watch it with Dan and the kids this weekend!

Forgot to add the Nativity Scene thread (now closed) is another train wreck I wish I hadn't opened. Very preictable responses from the usual suspects.

A&D, this might bring you a little cheer too. :goodvibes

Santa Donald wishes all of SorcererDonald16's friends on the Conservative Thread a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! :wizard:

Oh my goodness SD, that is soooo cute! Good thing I don't know where you live, I might have to come get him!

I baked snickerdoodles for ds' youth group party tonight. I must say, those are really good. I have thus far gotten three servings of milk in since I can't have cookies without milk! I am such a health nut.;)

:rotfl2:

:cutie: OMG!!! That's adorable SD!! Where'd you get that?
My mom gave him to me a couple years ago. He came from Disneyshopping.com. :goodvibes

And I'll say prayers for you to do well on your finals, Soarin'. This is the first year in a long time that I have none and have none on the horizon. It's a wonderful feeling, albeit odd. I'm used to studying and writing papers ad nauseum this time of year.

hmmm...starting to sound as though conservative or christian threads are being closed. sounds like a left wing conspiracy!:rotfl2:

They finally locked it down? Good. Several people were getting very very vicious on that thread.:sad2:

You know, it can be quite fun to read those threads when you have just about everyone on ignore. :) Makes the thread go by really fast....

LOVE the Donald, SD! Love it!

The kids are out sledding with DH. I'm here all nice and warm. I love to go sledding, but I don't feel like going out tonight. We are supposed to get hit with a big storm tonight. I hope they cancel school tomorrow.

I had something important to say regarding this thread (probably about what someone posted), but I can't remember what I was going to say. Oh well. Let's just say that I agree with all of you. :)
