I heard some Dem pundit say that since Bush overspent, the pork bill was necessary. The money guys that were on with her were actually holding back the laughs, she was so desperately naive, gullible and (dare I say) stupid. :)

So, the solution to Bush's overspending is to spend more? Yeah, makes perfect sense. :rolleyes1

Greta was talking to Carl Cameron last night about the porkulus bill and mentioned that really random items were added at the last night. One example was a high-speed train between Disneyland and Las Vegas....

I know we're all Disney lovers but I'm a little lost as to how not having this constitutes a crisis ...

So funny and so true!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I saw this quote the other day about this:

"The Hill staffer notes that Reid earmarked $45 million last year for the public magnetic levitation train project — which is in competition with a completely privately funded rail project being built along a similar route."

So the Government is going to build a rail line to compete with another privately funded high speed rail line. What the heck is wrong with these people? Not to mention the fact that a high speed MAG-LEV train running through the desert would be a prime terrorist target.

Evening everyone! Happy Valentines day. DH went out early this morning and brought home --- Heart shaped donuts!!!!!:lovestruc I have been talking about them all week, how good they look in Breezy's picture, I am so glad he got the hint!!! They are good too!

With all the news I watch ya figure that I would have coaught that :rotfl2:

I am sooooo jealous. I so wanted some of those heart shaped doughnuts!!

And if my opinion counts as a CAer - we need high speed trains from LA to SF not to Vegas. Those flights are cheap and it only takes maybe 4 hours to drive to Vegas. Stooopid waste of money. I thought that project was pulled as a lark. Guess not.:confused3

I don't know but it has to be the same people who think it's the government's job to give them a house, car, and a job.

This must be true. No wonder they can't get jobs, they're too busy contemplating whether or not the oven is hot... :confused3 :rotfl2:

Honugirl - off topic; but I peeked at your Unicorn Club thread and I finally get it. I read Sweet Valley Twins from 4th grade until 7th grade - maybe? I had a huge collection of those books that I dumped at Goodwill once I reached high school (and now regret it). I always liked Elizabeth better than Jessica; I wanted to be just like Elizabeth. I tried Sweet Valley High but never seriously got into those.

Oh, and I read Babysitters Club late elementary and early Middle School also.

does no one have an idea about the big bucks that I will not be getting each week :confused3 the smartest people I know popcorn::

Have any of you read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand? More and more our government is starting to remind me of the government in that book. Pretty bizarre.

What???!!!

Isn't a 'magnetic levitation train' a monorail?

Vegas has a monorail now and no one uses it! It runs along the strip from the Sahara to the MGM Grand. It was free for a while, then they decided to charge $5 a person.

I certainly hope they don't want to use the same company that built the Vegas one. For a long time it sat without running due to mechanical problems, parts were falling from the rails onto the tracks  , and some tourists were stuck in there for quite some time, on like a 110 degree day. :scared:

OMG- maybe that's why they need to build two! On one: you'll get there on time and in one piece, on the other you take your chances. :lmao:

Anyway, for years they have been talking about extending it from the MGM to McCarran, but everything has been delayed due to financial problems. I haven't read anything on it lately to see where they are at financially, but I'd be willing to bet on red that it's no better than two years ago. BTW- I'm thinking it's because nobody uses the thing, as well. Those of us who knew it would break down, we were like, um no thanks. And most drunk partyers leaving the casino end up stumbling to the front door and have the nice man standing outside in a uniform help them into a cab, rather than 'find' the monorail. :tilt: Some don't even have $5 left after they leave the casino.

Do they think the broke drunks are going to want to get on a monorail and go to Disney, too? :lmao: Or, maybe Disney is going to lower their prices so people will still have money left over to gamble and drink with! Oooo- that's it!

Wow-This is all total craziness. Sorry, I had to rant. What a total and complete waste of money.
