I think that they wouldn't understand it. Since we are not all in lock step with our leaders.

:rolleyes1

I have a GW question for you since you have read a couple of books on him and I am waiting for my copy of The Real George Washington to come.

In the HBO miniseries John Adams, they made it seem like the Washingtons trashed the official residence of The President when he left. It was a bit of a shock to me and was wondering how much truth was in the story of it. Have you read anything that showed he did this?

:confused3

The White House was vacant before the Adams' moved in. It was trashed by vagrants and was still quite under construction. John Adams was the first president to live in the White House. It has been expanded a few times, mostly right after 1812 when it was being expanded and fixed due to the burning by the British.

I must have missed the memo where I was supposed to check the straight ticket box. Good thing all my conservative friends did, too!

I don't know if it would be worth all the stress you would get from the rabid lefties, but if you do start it I'm sure a bunch around here would back you.
:)

It looks like the bloom is off the rose. Obama is starting to be made fun of....GASP!

Here is a blog with a video of John Stewart's show. It is pretty funny!

:lmao:

:rotfl: Thank you for sharing this. I needed a good laugh today.

Hey, libs! I don't listen to either Rush or Beck! Not all conservatives do. But I bet you listen to Chris Matthews!

OK… now that I’ve taken care of that..

Today’s e-mail from my coworker: :teeth:
That letter is great! I'm going to show dh when he gets home.:goodvibes

Okay, I called my sister and she said she only read it in David McCollough's book (I may be spelling his name wrong).

During his presidency, Washington lived in the President's House. Adams didn't move into the White House until almost the very end of his presidency (he only served one term). The President's House website doesn't have any information on this. I would assume that a website dedicated to the house would have that.

I also found this through a google search - who knows if it's legit, but it makes sense to me. The author pretty much states that Washington moved out and it took a while to move in. That "in-between" time vagabonds moved in and trashed the place. The government gave Adams a budget to fix the house back up.

Not sure if that answers your question, but at least it's a start.

Let me know how you like the book you ordered. I may want to read it.

Thanks for the info. That sounds much more likely. The miniseries never said the Washigntons did it, they just showed Adams moving in and the place trashed.

I know, it was great seeing John Stewart actually make fun of Obama instead of a Republican for a change.

:)

I voted for a dem for state rep. I liked the guy very much. Hopefully he'll serve us well. I also base my vote on policies and ideologies, not political party and I try to keep myself fiercely independent.
I do too, but I usually align better with Repubs or libertarians.:thumbsup2

Hey! Speaking of your sister, how is she doing?

I would like the names of the House Dems who voted against this so that I can email them a thank-you note.

Great idea! Yes, I'll do the same - thanks for the info, Tink.

What should the Republicans do about the three traitors in the Senate:confused3

She's doing much better. She has had, I think, 6 infusions so far and has another one this week. The first couple of infusions were incredibly hard on her but she started to get her strength back and feels awesome.

She's really behind in checking papers, but at least she feels well doing it.

Thanks again for asking.

Hope you all have fun tonight -DH needs to use the computer, so I'm gonna go read.

Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!

I suppose tar and feathering is considered cruel and unusual punishment. Hmmm...good question.

We could make them listen to rap "music" at the decibel level of an F-16. Or we could tie them up and throw them in the closet until they write "I screwed America" 1,000 times with their teeth. Those are my suggestions.

Send the Gitmo detainees to serve house arrest in their homes, take their guns, and give them Zoo passes.....that's where all the RINOs live right?

vote 'em out and have them be extras in Michael Moore's future films as their new career.

Plus they have to give him a spongebath.

I guess there is great joy in liberalville tonight? Hope they enjoy the moment. How they can justify this is beyond me but they got what they wanted - Change.
