Hi guys! I can't possibly catch up so I'm just jumping in. I did see that it was Hilarie with an H's birthday, though, so Happy Birthday! princess:

Hubby is gone back on his way to Iraq. :( Two weeks went by way too quickly. We had a great time, though.

Disneyland was a perfect winter getaway for us. The first three days were warm and gorgeous, soooo nice after all that snow we had here a month ago. We left Seattle in freezing temps and arrived in LA with temps in the low 80s. Ahhhhhhh. :cool1: Thursday and Friday it "rained"--- in quotes because by Washingtonian standards it was just a little mist and sprinkle. Which meant it didn't bother us a bit and we spent the day walking right onto every ride we wanted to go on on our "do it again" days. :thumbsup2 Couldn't have planned it better.

We had a really good second week here at home, although the days went by so fast with everything we wanted to do and everyone who wanted to get to see my husband before he went back. He also had all his little bursts of home repair, boat repair (remember our friend's boat that the carport crashed down on in the snow) and computer diddling to do for us and others all week, of course. That's just him. Always has to be fixing something.

OH! Thursday night we had dinner at my parents house, and after dinner they told us to get lost and the kids could stay. My parents live about six blocks from the casino. :rolleyes1 Sooo.... we went over there for far too long and came home pie eyed from slot machine glare...but with $3000 because I hit a jackpot and hubby won several hundred on another game. All on penny slots, btw. I went to the bank and plopped most of it on my car loan the next day. :cheer2:

Tonight's a little sad. We'll get back in our daddy-less routine soon, but right now the kids are really noticing him gone and feeling kinda blue. Me too. It was a great two weeks, though. :goodvibes

:grouphug: I'm glad you had a wonderful time, and sad for you that it ended too soon. That's wonderful that you hit the jackpot! I have absolutely no luck at the casino, so I never go. We're about 45 minutes from the AC casinos, and I think the last time we were there was about three years ago, and that was mainly for dinner.

I'm just swamped with work this morning. :( Not much time to read/post.

I hate Mondays sometimes.

Hi Michelle!!!! :wave2: So glad you had a great time! And congrats on the slot win! :cool1: I love when that happens, although it doesn't happen too often to most people. :scratchin Good for you that you paid some debt down with it. :thumbsup2

I have to get to the store. Waiting for DD to wake up. Time to make chicken soup, DH went from stomach bug to snotty bug. :crazy2:
Last week was awful! I'm hoping this week is better. :thumbsup2

Soarin - looks like your quite the busy little bee! :)

Happy belated Birthday FFM!!! :goodvibes

So not reading the 40 pages I missed this weekend :p My goodness y'all are some voracious posters.

I miss anything good this weekend?

Hi everyone! Happy Monday.

Michelle I am so glad you had a wonderful time with your DH. I wish him safety and again say thank-you to both of you for your service.

Can you guys believe Dashel (sp?) has tax issues too? :rolleyes2

Good afternoon everyone!

To the Steelers fans amongst us -- :cheer2: :cheer2:

To the Cardinals fans -- :grouphug: :grouphug:

I have no idea what happened during the game since I was DISing with y'all - and I'm sure I had more fun, non-football fan that I am. I did miss the snacks, though - I'll have to go back and look at Breezy's...

Michelle - welcome back!!!!! We really missed you and are so glad you had a great time with your DH.

And I'd like to make an announcement....Disney was very Disney today so now I am the proud owner of an ANNUAL PASS!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Called the ticket office and she didn't even act like this was a big deal - woot!

Don't know if I'll get back as early as May but I'm definitely treating myself to a trip in early December.

:lmao:

Now, I've been stuck several times on a London tube train, during rush hour - which means armpit to armpit - with plenty of non-bathing Europeans  - but so far I've been fine at both DL and WDW.

Anyone play golf?

Our firm has a "fun day" each year - later in the year, right before tax season picks up again. The last few years, since I've join the firm, it has been bowling. Which, by the way, I suck at. I'm doing good to score a 32 in a game. But, I can at least participate - even if all of my balls wind up in the gutter.

My friend is on the fun committee and told me that this year they plan to go back to golf. They’ve done golf before – and it’s not putt-putt – but that’d be harder to participate in than bowling is if you aren’t good at it.

So, my options would be to stay at work – and work -or get paid to go and play golf for the afternoon. There’s a driving range just down the road from me and I’ve been thinking that it might be fun to start hitting golf balls on the week-end. Maybe if I do this enough, I’ll be good enough to participate on the fun day. I’ve inherited my Dad’s golf clubs – although I’ve lent them out to my cousin’s husband who’s really into golf but doesn’t have a lot of money to purchase his own clubs. I’m playing around with the idea of buying a few clubs for me and going to the driving range every Saturday - that’d be fun exercise – right?

Any tips? I don't even know where to start with buying anything. Obviously I'd need a driver for the driving range.

:yay:  :yay:

I golf, I golf!!!!

First advice.....GO!!!! Anytime you can get paid to golf....GO! It might be a scramble? Or is it just everyone go have fun? If it's a scramble, then you don't have to worry about being bad - they'll take the best shot out of 4 anyway.

For clubs - I wouldn't use your Dad's if you don't plan to golf again. I would start with borrowing them back for this occasion - and if you like it, get youself a cheap set from Sam's Club or whatnot until you develop a passion for it. If the passion develops - then go for a more expensive set. JMO. (I have an Adams hybrid set that I love!)

You could do the driving range, but don't get discouraged. My suggestion is to take some lessons. You can develop some pretty ugly habits right-quick if you don't learn the basics from the get go. You may only need one or two to start - or a clinic can help, where you have multiple people being taught at once - it's a cheaper route to go. They probably give lessons at the driving range.

If you do start golfing on a regular basis - it's GREAT excercise! Especially if you walk and don't ride (although you should ride on the company outing because the fellows out there will not appreciate it if you go too slowly;))
But for just excercise - you can burn roughly 600 calories by walking and playing 18 holes. And it's a complete full-body workout.

But, I must warn you - it's an expensive passion. And it is a passion. Folks either love it or hate it. So be forewarned - if you love it....it can be pricey.

:cheer2: Have fun chickie!!!!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Oh, come on, you have to come back in May. If you wait till December, I'll be long since gone home.:sad1:

He will be gone four months this time. Less than half the time we had to wait to see him on this R&R, so that is cool.

The not so cool is that he is about 99% decided that he will sign on for a second contract. :( I'm having some acceptance issues with that, but I understand where he is coming from. The current economic situation has decimated his former livelihood. One of the visits we made this week was to the Caddy dealer he used to work for for eleven years. Of 21 techs and lube guys that used to be there, there are 12 left, and the service manager told us he could easily let three more go and keep up with the work that is coming in. He's just trying to keep them working. They are working flatrate, though, so they may be spending 40 hours a week in the shop to make 30. :sad2: He's going to have to make an industry shift, and we need to get our house payment down before we can take the cut in pay that will come from him having to go through an apprenticeship period in a new field. Staying lets us do that rather than pray we can both keep a job through this economic situation and keep our house. :confused3

The silver lining is that the second year contract includes one week vacation at three months and nine months, in addition to the two weeks at six months. So at least we'd get to see him three times the second year instead of only once.

:grouphug: on the hardness of going back, but I'm very glad you get to see him more often than you did last time.

We're coming in May! Just trying to finalize dates, but I'll def look you up while we're there. It will be me, DH, my son and his wife, and possibly my daughter, although I doubt she'll be able to come since it will be the end of the semester, finals, and graduation.

Congrats Debbie on the annual pass. They are really DANGEROUS. Whatever you do don't check the air prices every week! ;) Especially the ones that come out for "this weekend or next weekend." Yes, I have a little experience with that one! :goodvibes good times, good times.

I have not been allowed an AP for quite a few years now. pirate: Way too expensive to save that money! (I am working up a case for an AP this year though :flower3: )

Q: I purchased* a valid Passholder Pass or a Multi-Day Ticket that I will use for admission on my birthday in 2009. Is there anything else I could receive on my birthday?

A: Yes, you have several options which are available for you to select once you arrive at the Park with your confirmation message, your proper valid ID, and your Passholder Pass or Multi-Day Ticket that you will use for admission on your birthday. You can choose one of the following:

A birthday FASTPASS® exchange card+ for a certain number attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday; or
A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket* for you to use for certain purchases including select merchandise, recreation or tour experiences, or for Disney's PhotoPass® on-site services at participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort; or
A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

Oh man, that was the first thing I did when they announced that! We've had AP's for a long time and we wanted to see what they were going to do for all of us!

i was so surprised when i first found out there was a special for AP holders. i prefer having the nice choices to a day's admission....not sure which i'd choose.

Ahhh... raining like crazy here. But I don't care. Teresa already knows, but this weather calls for me to go to Columbia Harbour House in a bit and have clam chowder. :goodvibes Yuuuum...... perfect on a cold, rainy day down here.
