Conservative Thread: U.S. Steele - Back In Business

I haven't been on here in awhile. I am just so depressed about our economy and our country in general. Oh well, I am sure it will all be fine.

Saw Air Force One land today. My daughter and I were coming back from the store and I kept seeing all of these people pulled over and looking up to the sky, I finally could see out my rearview mirror, it was Air Force One. Very cool. But I must say, I am sorry that my city had to A) host the DNC and B)be the site of where this nightmare of a bill will be officially signed in.

But I was a good mom and told my daughter how exciting it was that President Obama was in our city today. We were only a short distance from the runway at Buckley (air base) and we could see the wheels touch down. Its not often I see a huge 747 right above my neighborhood!

Of course inside I was thinking how much more exciting it would be if John McCain was inside that plane!:sad1:

Can someone please explain to me why there was the need to waste taxpayer money to fly to Denver to sign this bill when our economy is close to a catastrophic collapse and he could have just signed it in DC?

Am I missing something here? :confused3

Isn't it interesting that this thing had to pass immediately without being read in its entirety or even have the changes typed because the CATASTROPHE was imminent? But, once it was on the desk, it sat there until the appropriate photo-op moment appeared? So much for that crisis!

Even worse, I won't be surprised if we see more trillion dollar stimulus packages coming down the pike. :sad2:

I don't think you're missing anything. It's all about the power of the photo op. This is really unbelievable... Obama is still running for office, meanwhile America is circling the drain. :sad2:

ETA: I attended the funeral of a 85yo vet today. During the ceremony her family was presented with a US flag on behalf of POTUS. Nothing against POTUS specifically here, but it just made me think what a sad state our country is in, and how this lady who loved her country left this earth seeing it in a total mess. I don't know... just kinda sad about that.

To me its a photo op campaign stop. The whole time he was senator, he was running for president. Now he's president and he's got to run for president again.

Colorado is a hotbed for him. He won this state but its a mixed bag around here. You have Denver and Boulder and then a whole lot of small towns that tend to be very conservative. We don't typically get a lot in the way of presidential perks around here. Now we are feeling the love. He wants us again I guess!

The local news keeps saying its because Colorado is top on the list for green energy production. And that's part of the bill. Whatever. I am glad I got to see Air Force One, now I hope he doesn't come back for awhile!

And, some of the stimulus cheerleaders are licking their lips in anticipation!

That is what scares me about this plan. Its not an end, but rather a beginning. Hey if it works (and I hope it does) I'll be so happy! I am the first to admit that economics aren't my strongpoint. But I do have to say, this thing scares me. I guess time will tell.

He is still my president and I still hope he can bring our country out of this mess. But one month in and I am worried. I can't help it.

Does this mean the homeless that were ejected from the Mall so they wouldn't sully the inaugural galas, will be his BFF's again when ACORN needs their vote?

Sounds like you and I are on the same page. Economics is definitely not my forte; I'm more of a "big idea" person. Hey, if this thing works I will certainly give credit to POTUS and all his Spendocrat (errr... Democrat) pals.

But as for now state of our economy scares me. This package does look like only a beginning. Our kids are now on the hook for a debt that is going to be hard for them to pay off (that much I do understand). This wild uncontrollable urge to spend flies in the face of what I am trying to do by throwing a few hundred bucks a month into each of my kids' college fund.

I'm currently taking a Dave Ramsey finance class. It seems to be on about a 6th grade level, which is probably good for me. :goodvibes Anyhow, Dave has this saying that he repeats a lot regarding saving vs spending: Live like no one else today, so that later on you can live like no one else. I'm beginning to think that makes more sense than ever!

I just got a newsflash that 12,000 troops are being deployed to Afghanistan. Lets keep those brave folks in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

You got me beat. He worried me during the election, he worried me before the inauguration. But I was still hoping he'd govern from the center. He proved me right when he signed the Gitmo order. :sad2:

I'd like to hear the pacifist libs whine and holler now. But it won't happen...LTEC did it and that's good enough for them.
I will definately pray for our soldiers.

He said he was going to send more troops to Afghanistan. Pull out of Iraq, send to Afghanistan.

I heard nothing from him about actually bringing "our boys..." (and girls, what have you) "...home."

So in reality, he's actually keeping a promise here.

He wants to get Osama so bad he can taste it. Think of the PR value. It won't make a lick of difference; there are plenty more who want to kill us, but it'll have a heck of a PR value for a president who has zero credibility with the military and national defense. Bush knew that Osama wasn't the end game, but The One definitely believes he is. He's gonna be so disappointed…"Ya mean there are more of 'em? Aw crap!"

Not really keeping a promise. He "promised" to pull out of Iraq immediately and the last I heard he's now looking at 23 months. 23 months isn't immediate. He did say he had no problem attacking Pakistan and he ordered the missile strike so I wasn't surprised on that one; was surprised he did it so soon, though.
Where is the outrage, the picketing, the screaming at the WH that we're still in Iraq?

He doesn't want to capture him. He wants to have tea and ask him to unclench his fist. :rolleyes1

Nah, he wants to bloody him up and prove he's a tough guy. Seriously. I imagine those troops will have one order: Get Osama. We need the PR win.

It's all smoke and mirrors with this guy.

This is what I want to know. Where are all the blithering idiot hypocrites who were screaming, gnashing teeth, rending clothing, and generally acting like pathetic nincompoops as they performed some ignorant form of street theater in front of the White House two months ago? :confused3

Looking for a job?

Sewing cash into their mattresses?

Looking at their debt-ridden grandchildren and sobbing their eyes out?

Looking for their "I bought an Obama" receipt so they can return him?

:confused3

More likely closing their eyes, putting their fingers in their ears and going, "NAH NAH NAH...I CAN'T HEAR YOU."

I think the first three apply to people who didn't vote for bo. The last one only applies to a small number of people but I think the further into his term we get, that number's going to get bigger.
