Hi, thinking of joining... Does anybody every get 2 studios instead of a 1 bedroom?? would there be an advantage to this.. the points are less for 2 studios than 1 bedroom....if you did this is there connecting studios??? thanks..amy

The advantage to getting two studios is that you double the sleeping capacity and get two bathrooms. There are no connecting studios in the WDW DVC resorts.

The one bedroom units come with a fully equipped kitchen, a washer & dryer and a jacuzzi tub. They also have a king sized bed in the bedroom.

Save points or live luxuriously - the choice is yours!

Just confirming that there are no connecting studios. Studios either connect to a 1 BR to make a 2BR, or in very few cases, don't connect to anything at all.

As CarolMN said, you double your sleepnig capacity, but you miss out on the jacuzzi tub, the large living room and the full kitchen, and in some cases, larger balconies.

It's all about what's important to you.

Because at most resorts, the studios are part of a 2 bedroom lock off unit, there is almost no chance of them being connected. At OKW about the closest you would get is one above the other, or on oposite ends of the same building.

thanks for the info... that would not work for us...we are a family with 2 girls...so we would need the rooms together... thanks..amy

They have two bedroom units.

Really, the one bedroom is only good for two people. You don't want to be pulling out the sleeper sofa every night.

The two bedroom is exactly what it is advertised to be, a home away from home.

We are a family of three and only stay in the GVs. It really makes for a comfortable vacation to have the master for us, one bedroom for another couple and the third for all the kids.

We don't find pulling out the sofa bed is so hard, and a one-bedroom is great with two kids who can share a bed and a TV! Not everyone has the ability to afford a GV every time they come.

We find the one bedroom units at OKW are comfortable for four people. We have never minded opening the sofa bed each night when we have had guests.

One time we shared the one bedroom with other DVC members who didn't have enough points to stay in their own unit, so we offered them the sleeper sofa. We used the sink in the jacuzzi room & left all our toiletries there. The other couple kept their toiletries in the main bathroom.

Last trip my sister & niece decided to join us at the last minute. Again no big deal to open the sofa bed.

I will say that both times we had a unit with two ways into the bathroom which helped quite a bit.

We were just glad to have the company both times.

As for the OP ... I prefer the luxury of the jacuzzi, washer & dryer, extra space, etc.

If using the sleeper sofa is not a problem, I would definitely go for a 1-bedroom over 2 studios. More room for everyone and all the additional amenities make for a much more relaxing vacation, in my opinion.

I agree that not everyone has the points for a GV.

As long as your kids are young and don't mind sleeping together, the 1 bedroom will be fine until they are older. If they don't like sleeping in the same bed, try having one on the pull out and one on the sofa cushions on the floor or even on the love seat (if you are at OKW). Kids like that kind of thing anyway!

Or would want to!

We've traveled three times with other childless couples - we get studios for each couple rather than a one bedroom. Everybody gets their own space. When our baby comes we'll get a one bedroom for us. A one bedroom for a family of three is perfect for us. One of those other childless couples that has went with us a couple of times before is having a baby now, too - looks like they are going to have to get their own points :)

oh I will probably get burned

a studio (especially at OKW) is just like a hotel room - would you get 2 hotel rooms (okay my grandmother did but she had money) - OKW has 2 queen beds (only deluxe resorts at WDW have a queen bed) - the other have 1 queen bed and a double (or queen at BCV) sleeper sofa.

I know it depends upon how well your family gets along - but I have send several families of 4 or 3 to a studio at OKW and they loved it....

No the studio is better it has a mircowave and a under-the-counter refrigerator, plus a toaster and coffee maker - no just WDW hotel room has these extras.

so if you are used to the moderates - even a studio is so much better (I believe in saving points....)
