Connecting rooms @ AS?

Are there connecting rooms available at all of the AS resorts for anyone, or do you have to have a special need to get them? DH & I decided to put 2 DS in a connecting room rather than all 4 of us in 1 room at a moderate or deluxe. Anyone done this? How does it work out? I'm thinking double the space!!! Not having to listen to kid TV!

we had a connecting room when we stayed at the
all star movie, Fantasia first floor. very short walk to
food courts and bus, It was a perfered room cost 10.00 more.
We did not use them they were just there..( 1057)

I stayed at ASM Sept '01, we had adjoining rooms for my mother and kids. I think it is pretty easy to get one, just ask when making resos.

We asked for connecting rooms for our 12/00 trip to AS Sports, and received them. They will not guarantee that you will get connecting rooms, but from what I've seen, except for peak periods, most people get them. A note of interest, make sure you ask for connecting rooms, not adjoining. Connecting means they are connected by a doorway, while adjoing rooms are next to each other, but are not always connected.

While I haven't stayed at the AS, I have requested and received connecting rooms at the GF and the AKL. My reservation confirmation stated that connecting rooms were guaranteed for families with small children and I think that's what swung it. I really think they do their best to give you connecting rooms because they ended up upgrading us to concierge because they didn't have any other available connecting rooms.

When we stayed at the AKL, they originally put us in adjoining rooms, but one of the rooms had a door to (another) connecting room. A phone call to front desk got us moved to the connecting room (I think it was originally a mistake and they had assigned us the wrong room).
