Connecticut DVC Owners thread?

DH and I just planned a last minute trip in April but since all of our points are allocated, we ended up booking GDT and I keep hoping we don't hate it!

GDT is ugly on the outside but the inside looks like the Riviera lobby with a splash of color. Avoid the Coronado quick service restaurants at all cost. The Three Bridges restaurant has one of the best burgers on property.

Anyone have any exciting trips planned? No spring or summer trip planned for us, just a October trip to SSR and VBR

2 trips planned here also:
1 - April - 4 nights OKW and 3 nights PVB.
2 - August - 3 nights CCV, 2 nights BCV and 2 nights RIV….holy Split stay but excited about all these first time stays!

We were so pleasantly surprised eating there. Pork tacos were great, burger was great, curry chicken was great (but spicy).

And don't forget churros for desert.

Just got back from a 7 day trip over the weekend- 5 days at SSR and 2 days at PVB. First time staying at PVB and the wife and I loved it there, theming is perfect for us. Ate at O'hana and had a window table with great view of the fireworks so that was pretty awesome. Our Epcot night ended with some unbelievable rain and we tried to wait it out but it just didnt want to stop- by the time we were leaving there were monster puddles all over the place with water as deep as the lower parts of our shins- those shoes were thrown away but it's funny to think about it now.

We are heading down in April for kids spring break staying at Polynesian for a week. Although first night we arrive at 6:30 at MCO and had to book at the airport Hyatt because of lack of availability.

Going back in June and staying at Beach club 1 BDRM. So super excited.

We usually fly out of Bradley but the prices during April school vacation week this year are crazy! It doesn’t help that Easter is late this year. Ended up booking out of Boston. Got 3 tickets for what it would cost for 1 out of Hartford. Decided not doing parks this year. Between park reservations,Genie plus, cut backs, etc. just doesn’t sound like fun. We are using our DVC points at Vero Beach and then I have Hilton Honors points using at Waldorf Orlando. Might do an after hours event though if one comes back.

They ARE crazy. We are actually considering driving this year… or we might not. In mid January we could get JB out of PVD for $110 - $125 each way, def worth the drive for us… but I was having a hard time pulling the trigger (we were here in Dec, hubby and I came in Feb, we are here right now in March…) and now the best I can find is over $300 each . No thanks.

We are here now (2 nights at Riviera then split staying to CC), in april I have two nights going to the dark side (girls only trip, my daughter and I, plus her BFF and her mom), and September we have a 2 bedroom booked for my DD’s Disney adult birthday (she’s turning TEN!!!)

the BIG HUGE ENORMOUS surprise is we booked the starcruiser for my son’s 8th bday. I wasn’t sure we could swing it but work was generous this year. My hubby is SO EXCITED! My son doesn’t know yet but I did tell DD and I think she’s enjoying being in on the secret. Im not a big Star Wars fan but I’m a jump right in personality type, so getting excited about outfit planning and finding backstories

Good luck with your stalking! Dd and I were supposed to go to WDW for the Princess 10k a few weeks ago but all the flights were cancelled that Friday from the ice/snow storm. I was able to rearrange the points that went into holding into our April trip and free up some points to reschedule for June. Spent about a week obsessively stalking and was finally able to get Poly for my 40th bday weekend in June. It is only 2 nights since DD graduates that week but it will be a great bday/graduation weekend.

If anyone got excited by the JetBlue fare sale that was announced today, it's a dud out of Hartford or Providence. Westchester looks pretty decent.

We are less than 1 month away from our first trip to Aulani. We will spend 8 nights at Aulani for Easter break(1st night in Waikiki)
I am super excited but starting to get nervous about traveling so far with little kids. I started planning this trip 2 years ago when I had to have half of my liver removed. I told DH if I survive the surgery I’m going to Hawaii for my 40th bday!

Of course, the dates didn’t work out bc DD17 graduates the week of my 40th so we moved it to April.
Instead we will do a quick weekend to WDW and stay at the Poly on my bday in June. Dh asked how many trips do I get for my 40th?


Also have a trip to WDW in Nov. but unsure when. We usually get our fall vacation time approved in Feb. but my boss moved Nov./Dec request to sometime this summer. I couldn’t believe it. Doesn’t she know there will be nothing left to book with DVC by then( she doesn’t, she knows nothing about Disney).

First trip: Dad, Mom (8 months pregnant), DD5, DD3

Flights continue to be insane from CT. Flew from Boston on the Feb trip and will do the same for April saving a couple thousand!!!!
I have a 1 way booked for August on SW out of BDL but still need to book a return. So spoiled in 2020 and early 2021 we were with cheap BDL flights!

I swear I used to get round trip for $160 MAX BDL to MCO when SW first started! Maybe… 2017ish? I get annoyed I pay that one way now!

??? Popcorn ceilings aren't really a Florida thing. The three houses I've owned in Connecticut all had popcorn ceilings.

Watch out for asbestos.

Having drywall people dealing with it. Should all be down next week I hope. Then having the ceiling textured which we also don't have in our home up north. They wanted to know if I wanted all the walls orange peeled. I had no idea what he was referring to but I said leave the walls along.

Why would anyone want their walls to have an orange peel texture? I don’t even understand how this would be a thing but maybe that’s because I’m stuck in my northeast mentality.

When my parents built a house in the Midwest, textured ceilings (stippled) were standard and the builder thought my parents were crazy for asking for flat sheetrock ceilings. It was a ridiculous upcharge for flat ceiling, so ridiculous to the point that they could have put a down payment to build a second identical home.

Booked my first Avelo flights from Tweed New Hvn! Have heard nothing but praise for Avelo and hope it lives up to reviews in June. Doing split stay BLT & PV with DS for my birthday! He's wrapping up a busy, successful Jr yr of h.s. and is my favorite travel buddy! We just seem to be on the same wavelength on our trips together, give each other space, coordinate dining easily, etc. He's also almost as nutty about WDW as his Mom!

Booked my first Avelo flights from Tweed New Hvn! Have heard nothing but praise for Avelo and hope it lives up to reviews in June. Doing split stay BLT & PV with DS for my birthday! He's wrapping up a busy, successful Jr yr of h.s. and is my favorite travel buddy! We just seem to be on the same wavelength on our trips together, give each other space, coordinate dining easily, etc. He's also almost as nutty about WDW as his Mom!

We only travel to Disney as a whole family right now (kids are in elementary school still). I anticipate that my travel buddies will likely end up both my daughters. I’m pretty sure my husband only tolerates WDW for the kids.

I’m stalking the Avelo release for November 2022. I can’t seem to find an actual date they will release those flights so, for now, I just check their site every few days.

In other tiny airline news, Breeze Airways flies direct from Hartford to Savannah if anyone hasn't had the pleasure of visiting DHHIR before.
