Congratulations to Elton John

My cut-off would be when a parent can't physically do all the things younger parents do with their kids.
Since I don't know EJ personally, why would I have to congratulate him to be nice? I didn't say I don't wish them well, I just don't think I need to congratulate someone for doing something I don't feel is something to be congratulated.

I feel the same way!:thumbsup2

You know, there's a sub forum at the top of this page titled "Congratulations & Birthday Wishes". If certain posters here are done not congratulating Elton, I'm sure you can find others to not congratulate there. Check it out and keep spreading the joy. I'm sure you can find reasons that they are not deserving either.

Devil's advocate question here - do celebrity congratulations and birthday wishes get posted there or are they supposed to have their own threads?

Excellent question! Each celebrity should get their own thread on the main community board. Of course, due to the recent controversy in this congratulatory thread, we will be implementing a new rule for future celebrity announcements. We will first start a thread to debate as to whether or not said celebrity is worthy of birthday wishes or congratulatory wishes. They will need to meet a stringent set of requirements including, but not limited to, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity of adopted baby; etc. After tabulating the responses from all posters (persons over the age of 48 are not eligible to participate), the majority response will determine the outcome. If deemed worthy, said celebrity will be awarded a thread of their own on this board.

This really seems to bother you, Elton is that you?
Really its time to just let it go and maybe stay away from message boards for awhile if you can't.

A celebrity is no more worthy of a birthday wish or congrats, than anyone else in this world. sorry, but they get no special place in my world.

Bother me, not really. That's why the post that you quoted above was simply a humorous one. Perhaps you are projecting - that is to say, you are the one who is bothered and can't let go. You do keep coming back to this congratulatory thread even though you have stated that you have no intentions of offering congratulations.

I can understand this point of view, unless of course it is a celebrity that starred on the hit t.v. show Lost. Then, they are worthy of a special place in my world(except for John Locke, as he is older than 48).

Did you put your child in a different apartment with 24 hour nannies so you didn't get woken up in the night? No I bet you looked after your child yourself. It is being said that he wants another baby in one way I hope he does get one soon because at least the first child will then get company.

Buying adjoining apartments and knocking down the wall between is a pretty common thing in areas where housing is tight. The article, which was incredibly annoying doesn't say they didn't do just that.

Well, obviously there are always exceptions. :thumbsup2

Why have a baby then get 2 nannies and put the baby in another apartment? That child is just a toy. Also the other child he promised to help support his grandmother says she has heard nothing in at least a year...

My MIL had 24 hour help when her 10 children were babies. She never even bathed one of her kids. At one time she had a baby nurse, 2 nannies, a cook, an upstairs maid, a downstairs maid, a cook, and gardeners. The kids had their own wing which may have been farther apart than an apartment. That doesn't mean she doesn't or didn't love her children. They adore her as do all of her daughters and sons in law.

I can't even imagine not bathing my kids. All of the money in the world would never have stopped me from this. It was one of the most enjoyable things I did.

Sorry, but I think parents should be more hands on, JHMO. I do understand help especially with that many kids, but not bathing them? than I just don't get.

See and I was just the opposite. Bathing my babies scared me- I was so afraid they would slip out of my hands. I had my housekeepers( I say housekeepers because my oldest and youngest are 18 years apart) in the bathroom with me when I bathed mine. That gave me more confidence.

They are slippery little suckers aren't they? lol. The one thing that I really hated doing, that most people seem to love is, (here goes) reading to them. Lord help me, I hated that more than anything. I would fall asleep. I was so glad when they got to the age of not wanting me to read, I would almost rather go to the dentist. Now for that, I would have paid top dollar for a nanny to come in. Does that make me a bad parent?;)

Poor kid. Money doesn't make a good parent. He is too old. This is no better than the families with 20 kids. Or that woman that had a baby after 60. People need to quit having babies because they are "in." At some point the child should be considered.
