confused with avatars

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place, but I quickly scanned the boards and wasn't quite sure where to ask this question.

Anyways, how do you download an avatar from a different website or from your private files?????

Whenever I try, it says that i have not put in a valid url even though I'm 99.9999% sure I have (I copied and pasted the url, so i know its right).

Any tips?

You might want to try posting your question there. There is also a great FAQ thread at the top of that page that can answer some of your technical questions.

I will leave your question here for now because we have some great tech savvy people that post here and might be able to help you. Avatars are not my area. I have had the same one for a very long time. I don't remember how I got it there and I suspect it involved crying, screaming and possibly words that aren't allowed to be posted on the DIS. Not sure I could change it if I tried.

If you don't get any responses in a few days I will move this to the Tech Board, unless you decide to go ahead and ask there also.
