I had an interesting call with MS today...

I called today to double check that I added a request to our stay at VB for this thursday, I didn't, but she said too late to change because rooms have already been assigned...ok no problem..

I then asked her to check that they had my waitlist correct for Oct (it's the first time I have used waitlist and wanted to make sure)...she says, "yes, I see you are waitlisted for..oh wait..can I put you on hold?" She comes back a few minutes later and says I'm all set, our waitlist came through

Huh? Wasn't there this morning or before I called... So what the heck good is a waitlist if I can call and they will give it to me over someone who is waitlisted? Does waitlist just hold on the day it becomes available and then posts overnight or something?

So confused....

the waitlist can come through at anytime. It wasn't there earlier when you called but anytime between then and your second conversation with them someone called and canceled their reservation so your wait list grabbed it.
There was time when I was on the phone with them and canceled a night and when they went back to get it was gone within second. I have also had my waitlist come through while I was on the phone with them. Our conversation was over an hour long so before I hung up I asked them to check the list again and there it was. Be happy :) you got your waitlist:woohoo:

Don't get me wrong...I am sooo excited!!! :cool1: :cloud9: I guess I'm just one of those people that has to always understand how something works...so I'll give it up..doesn't really matter.. We will be staying at BCVs for the first time during food & wine!!!!!:dance3:

I tend to agree with you. We have been told that with the new system, wait lists are automatic. There sure are a lot of Members who just happen to get their wait list filled when they call in. Kinda makes you think twice.

Congrats on getting your waitlist. What dates was it for and what type of unit? We are waiting listed for a 2BR at BCV 11/2 and 11/3. I am hoping it comes through.

We were waitlisted for a 2BR @ BCV for 10/8-10/11. I would just keep calling every now and then to check your dates..seems that others have had luck calling as well even though they are waitlisted

Good luck!pixiedust:

This makes me wonder also as I had waitlist for BWC and due to DP (long story) had a confusing reservation. The non DP part I waitlisted but called back the next day to make sure they had it right. I didn't trust the waitlist system so just called to see if dates were available and she said yes. I said well I assume my waitlist is filled then right? She said hold on, a few minutes later she said yes it did. I asked why my waitlist didn't grab it as in the 1st part of my call she mentioned we had OKW booked. She said it did grab it but she just "finished" the transaction as it takes awile to get processed through the system:confused3 Not to mention I can't make heads or tails of my pts now but did the math and it appears to have worked in my favor.

It took me about a month of calling a few times a day to just get something close for DP to waitlist the rest. Just wonder how all of a sudden these dates show up with multiple rooms??????? Glad I called and next time I waitlist I will be calling occasionally to check on it just sounds a little fishy to me just didn't seem to :teacher: up. Especially since I see others have similar :wizard: events occur when they call.

Thanks for your posts...I am a little wary of the waitlist too. We tried it for the first time, and I plan on calling maybe weekly to double check. I just feel kind of pushy asking to check the wait list. Won't they see that it's 'unfilled', and then do I need to specifically say, well, can you double check to see if a room didn't pop open??

If someone cancels a reservation that frees up a day(s) that someone else is waitlisted for, the day goes to a "waitlist file" immediately.

The computer system "knows" that there is a match, but it takes a CM to actually make the reservation. The "match" just sits in the "waitlist file" until a CM has time to work it.

I believe that the CMs who work waitlists answer the phones when it is busy - so the waitlist stuff is worked when time permits - kind of like they work the email requests. Phones rule in a call center!

The reason so many people report calling and finding out they got the waitlist, is that the CMs check the "waitlist file" for matches that have yet to be worked when a caller mentions he/she is on a waitlist. If the CM sees the caller's match in the file, they can go ahead and make the reservation at that time, thus making the caller happy. But the caller didn't get anything they wouldn't have gotten anyway.

that's really interesting (makes perfect sense too) :thumbsup2

Thanks for the detailed explanation :teacher: and that is what MS described to me too. I just found it odd that the days I called in over the last month came available not only for my waitlist but also for non waitlist? Could just be a coincidence:confused3

But do they have an order for the waitlist? I mean do the people on a waitlist get assigned a number in line for that ressie that becomes available? Or is it first to call about it gets it?

I've been on the waitlist for almost 2 months now for a 1bdr. stand. for just one night(our first night we have a 1 bdr. bw view ressie) at BWV. I know that these units book up fast but I thought it would be easier because I only need one day.

I love BW view rooms but I don't feel like moving after just one night. It's going to be a pain.

Yes, the first caller who goes on the waitlist will get it the room firsts. My Aunt made ressies last April, I made my in July for are Nov. 07 trip. We both had a waitlist for the same day. She got hers for Nov. 8th and I never received mine. We had to move out of the hotel for 1 night:headache: it was for a studio at the BW.
BW is very hard to get but it dose come through at times. I made ressies in Feb. for our July trip to BW with in 2 wks I had all 3 days of my waitlist.:woohoo: So I have been on both ends. I never received my waitlist and then I never got my waitlist so fast.
I would call back often and even ask them to check inventory, I had luck that way before.

Good Luck.:wizard:

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear that there is an order to waitlisting.

I did call the other day and the CM was a little annoyed. He said that I was on the waitlist and I don't need to call about it.

I know, there were a few annoyed CM I have talked to, and I told them I feel better calling and can they please just check. There were a few times they had the day for me after they checked.. So it doesn't hurt to ask.

That's how I am too. I think I'm going to be calling a lot more.
