Confused on what is means to give up points

We had just recently purchased ad on points from SSR. We would live to purchase more and heard about saving you give up your first years points. How does this work exactly?

When we bought our 1st DVC purchase with DVD we were offered "Magical Beginnings". "MB" gave us a discount of $10 per point purchased, but you had to "give back" your first year allotment of points to DVD. Thus we had no points for our first year (Sept 2001-Sept 2002). This was fine for us since we already had vacation plans made for the year we bought into DVC. It's a personal choice if offered (Magical Beginnings) based on your needs or desires. Its only offered from DVD and not resales, also for DVD sales, there is a minimum amount fo points to be elligible.

We are looking at purchasing 150 pts at ssr. We were told we have an option of saving $5 off the total purchase price of our points, and we get to KEEP this year's points (so, we pay $84.00/pt), or we can give back this year's points, and get $1500 off our down payment.

Remember if you give your points back under Magical Beginnings, you have to pay the pro rate maintenace fees for those points so the net is $10 - pro rate mtce. fees
