Confused by what a CRO CM told me

Hoping to take two trips in one year, I let my Oct DC FTP ressies go and booked a room only ressie, then bought APs. One CM asked me why I didn't just keep the pkg and upgrade both the UHP (or whatever they are called now) to APs. DH, me, and DD1 are going. I wasn't aware you could upgrade the passes included in the pkg to APs. Maybe the CM was just incorrect? (I hope so, otherwise I just lost out on some fairly large savings, as I didn't get an AP discount on the room. I did get the DC 15% off, though).

Yes and no. Yes if you purchase your UPH at resort check in or add to a room only reservation prior to arrival. Your AP will be backdated to the first day of the UPH. No if you purchased your UPH as part of a specially priced vacation package (Dream Maker, Fairytale, etc). Tickets that are part of a package are never upgradeable.
