I just looked at TTS and for contracts ranging from 150- 300 points at VWL there seems to be an $11 spread. The lowest is $73 pt and the highest is $84pt. We put in an offer at $80pt and now wonder if we got the great deal we originally thought we did.
Do you think $73/pt. will pass ROFR?
Make me feel better- please!

It seems the price asked for resale contracts often is tied to how many points are available now or whether the contract is stripped of points until 2010 or even 2011. If you put in a bid on a contract with current points and maybe even some banked ones it is definitely worth more than one with no points available until 2010 --IF you want those points now and are planning a vacation that will use them or you can bank them. I don't think there is any sure way of knowing what will or will not pass ROFR.

It looks like earlier this year VWL contracts were passing for $74 and up. Hard to tell what would happen now. I doubt the $73 would pass, but anything is possible.

Well a 100 pt. contract for SSR just passed at $66/pt. with banked points, so yes, its a very real possibility it will pass at $73.

I just put in an offer of $74 a point for a 170 point VWL contract. The owners were only asking $70 a point, which the agent said would not pass ROFR. The agent that I am working with said $74 should pass, as contracts have been getting thru at $73 a point. I have my fingers crossed. Oh, the 170 point contract is not stripped.

Additionally, someone motivated to sell might sell a loaded contract at a lower price - while someone still on the fence about selling might sell a stripped contract at a higher price - if they get it - great, if they don't get it, it wasn't meant to be. If your interest right now is getting quick cash from a sale you might sell your contract for less.

The disparity isn't that big. It depends on a lot of factors.

That said, I am growing increasingly confused about the relatively low resale value of VWL. As an owner there, I freaking love it. Great amenities and restaurants, convenient to the places that are hard to get to from most other DVC resorts (like MK, golf, and Fort Wilderness - I love me sum HOOP DEE DOO!), and well planned and laid out for the villas.

But it doesn't really matter to me. Points are points 7 months out, and the fewer people that want to go to VWL, the more availability for my family! Plus, I really don't need to or plan to sell my VWL contract anytime soon.

:yay:

We passed ROFR (VWL) at $73/point and the seller paying closing costs. We paid the MF for this UY points. We figured it was only fair since we would be using them.

May have something to do with the high annual maintenance charges, on a basic 160 point contract the present dues work out to be $219.20 per year more than at the new BLT.
Mounts up to a lot of money over a few years.
I am presently in this dilemma myself, I am looking to add on and I have basically decided on either VWL, BCV or BLT. I have spoken to my guide he can sell me VWL at $101 but will give me 2008 points as I have december use year, $106 at BCV again with this years points or $99 for BLT with no points this year.(for 125 points+)

Or I could do a resale in the $70s for VWL.
The only bit that is putting me off VWL and BCV is the high maintenance charges. At present we always travel in August and upon till now we have been able to get every room that we have ever requested at the 7 month window.

We own at SSR at the moment and it was the cheapest resort for maintenance fees until BLT came along and now is the second cheapest. My 250 points that I have happily used on two occasions at VWL (probably my joint favourite resort with BCV) have cost me this year alone $175 less in maintenance than if I had owned them at VWL. This bill has been kindly paid for by an owner or collective owners at VWL who has chosen not to stay at that their home resort at that time.

So back to my dilemma, do I go for a cheap resale, pay bigger dollars and get them off disney with this years points or go for the BLT option with the lower dues.

I remain at this point still undecided.
