Confused: Are they giving 2014 points with Poly purchase?

Tikiman posted today that he bought into DVC at the Poly and he is using his 2014 and 15 points to stay this summer. Are they giving 2014 points with a new Poly contract?

It is because the resort is opening April 1st. Whenever DVC sells a contract it always has current use year points. Since any buyer with June or later use year would still be in their 2014 use year (for example June use year starts on the 1st day of June and ends May 31st of following year). Since Feb and April will have already started 2015 use year when resort opens they don't get those "bonus" points
This is also true of any other resort DVC sells directly including the "sold out" resorts

If they had used developer points to backfill the other 3 UY months, they'd have saved themselves tons of grief...

Of course, then someone would complain that Jan-Apr UY got an unfair deal.

I guess they can't win for us complaining...

The resort is opening during 2014 UY for anyone with a June and forward UY. This is why they are entitled to 2104 points.

No. They do it to remain out of jail. It's the law.

And they are not GIVING anything away. Timeshare sales personnel will try to make you think you're getting something for nothing, but that's not true.

The purchaser is paying full price for those 2014 points plus annual dues for the pro-rated portion of the calendar year when they own the points.

If anything, the direct purchaser is slightly overpaying for the 2014 points because they will not have full use of those points for a full use year.

This statement is not quite true. Just because a resort opens at some time during the 12-month life span of a UY doesn't mean that owners are automatically "entitled" to those points. BLT opened in August 2009, which meant that it opened in the 2008 Use Year for September, October, and December owners. Yet, the first Use Year to receive BLT points was the February 2009 Use Year.

There is nothing that requires DVD to offer points as of a certain Use Year. With PVB, DVD has "elected" to offer points as early as the *June* 2014 UY. It could have easily decided to offer points no earlier than February, March, or even April 2015 UY.

The June 2014 and forward use year was what DVD was selling to existing members. Anyone know what it is selling to new purchasers?

I bought in as new dvc member on 1st day pretty early in morning and it was already Oct UY (which was my choice anyway). There might have been a few Sept UY left.
