Confused about transportation to M.K.

Hi. I've been to WDW about 5 times so I thought I knew my way around pretty well!! However, I read something in a recent post which confused me. I thought you could only get to the M.K. by monorail or ferry if you are at the TTC. Is this true? What about EE mornings? Does the bus drop you off right at the gates of M.K. (not TTC)? For example, if we are staying at AKL and want to go to M.K. for Sat. morning EE, will the bus drop us off at the TTC and then we ride the monorail to M.K. or drop us off at the M.K. gates?

I'm confused!!

The bus will drop you off at the TTC. I know that some of the earlier posts were involving people who were driving themselves which is a completely different procedure; maybe that's the source of confusion?

Not correct. The busses from AKL (and all WDW resorts that use busses to go to MK) go directly to the bus stop area that is right outside the MK front gate; none of them goes to the TTC. In other words, you take your AKL bus directly to MK and then just walk into MK. The busses begin running about an hour before the park opens on ee morning.

Long in the past the busses used to go to the TTC and not directly to MK but the direct route to MK has been the norm now for many years.

Dsruba is exactly right (as always)! All MK buses go directly to the bus stop at MK, just a short walk from the turnstiles.

The only times you must take the ferry or monorail from TTC is if you have arrived at the TTC via personal car, monorail, bus from WL and FW, bus from another theme park, or bus from Downtown Disney.

Sorry, it was early in the morning and I typed TTC rather than MK. I was thinking that the other posts being talked about were when people drove and parked at the TTC. Sorry if I caused any confusion; I'll have to learn to proof read all my posts!

AWWWW..... I was really looking forward to riding the monorail to M.K.!! That has been the one thing my son really wants to do! Do any of the busses from AKL take you straight to the TTC so that you can ride the monorail if you want? I know that this will obviously take longer, but we were really looking forward to riding it to M.K.

Thanks for any info!

You could take the bus to Epcot and then take the monorail from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom. The ride between the two parks is much longer and you get to see some cool stuff. We always try to take that ride!

So you're saying you can take the bus to Epcot then take the monorail to M.K.? Can you take a bus straight from AKL to TTC and then hop on a monorail to M.K.? That was my original question and I am still confused as to whether or not you can do this!!

Sorry if I am sounding really dumb!!

Yes, you can take a bus from AKL directly to Epcot, then (without entering Epcot and wasting an admission) you can board the monorail to the TTC. There you would transfer to either the "express" or "resort" monorails to MK.

No, there are no buses from AKL to the TTC.

If you are going to the MK for EE though I'm not sure if the Epcot monorail is running yet (I think that is what you were originnaly talking about doing?) Does anyone know the answer to this?

Good point. For EE mornings at MK the quickest and simplest way to get there is to take the bus from AKL directly to MK. Save the monorail ride for later in the day.

The Epcot monorail starts running about an hour before Epcot opens.

This thread is getting complicated for such a simple question! :)

I've never stayed at any of the DD hotels, but have read several posts recently that said their busses took them to the TTC and they had to transfer to the monorail or boat to get into MK. That might have led to some confusion. Busses from Disney resorts go directly to MK.

I can't find one of my transportation maps to check this out, but if you want to get to DD before the direct bus starts at 4 PM, I THINK you have to take a bus to TTC and then switch to a DD bus. That would get you to TTC ---- however, I don't know how early that bus would run. I'm not real sure about this, but it's something you could check into, when you get there. One of the complicating factors is if you're trying to get to MK early on an EE day. It's going to be the first park open and the MK bus will be the first one running.

Guess you could take a cab, if you really want to get to TTC, or get off the bus and just ride the monorail all the way around the loop, if you want to. Or, plan on switching to Epcot later in the day and get your monorail ride in then.

We have a 8:10am PS at Cindy's on a non-ee day in Oct. The Park opens at 9:00. I thought about taking a taxi but I heard taxi's can only drop you off at the TTC. I really don't want to drive and take the monorail or ferry because a person in our party is uses a wheelchair. I also heard there's one bus (approx. 7:00am) that's goes very early that goes to the resorts. Can anyone confirm these things or have any other ideas.

Thank you so much!!!

I spoke with CRO as well as the OKW today. I was told the buses start to MK start running at 7:00 am and come every 20 minutes. Needless to say, I'm relieved!!!
