Confused about "new" new-member incentive

Hi, we have a contract from DVC for the $10 off per point that was offered through Feb 28. It is for an Oct UY, but I learned today that we can change it to an Aug UY without losing the old incentive.

I have been looking at posts here on the newer incentive, but as there is add-on information mixed in with new member info, I'm not sure I have the details straight. My guide is on vacation until Fri, and I just can't wait ;) I did talk to DVC and the guide with whom I spoke said that the new deal is $8 off per point plus you don't have to pay the dues for Aug-Dec (for Aug UY). I'm a little confused by this, as doesn't she really mean I'm getting '05 points without paying dues? Or do I pay points plus 8 months of dues for '05?

Guess you can see I need some straightening out!

TIA,

Erica

She means that you get the contract without paying any 2005 dues.

Without the incentive your dues would be pro-rated for the period August to December. In other words, your 2005 dues are only $1.59 per point ($3.83 / 12 * 5). So, you are actually a little bit better off under the old deal:

Old: $10.00 off per point
New: $8.00 + 1.59 = $9.59 off per point

we spoke with our guide on Monday ( 3/7). we started the process on 2/28 with the old incentives...then when i called on monday the incentive he offered was 8.00 off per point...plus disney will pay all of your dues until the end of the year....once you hit your user month then you will pay only the amount for the property. (if you financed through disney).Jan 06 you will start paying your dues. hope this helped!

OK, still confused

Am I getting all my 2005 points dues free? Or am I paying, during closing, for 8 months' dues on 2005 points, and just not paying dues Aug-Jan (for an Aug UY)?

If the former (dues free 2005) it's a better deal; if it's 4 months free, then it's about $100 worse than the Feb 28 incentive. But I don't have to start paying until the Fall, instead of in June.

Thanks for your help!

I think this is a add-on incentive because you only need to buy 120pts.

I'm pretty sure this is the new member incentive, because I just talked to a guide, who knew I was trying to compare the Feb 28 "deal" vs the present one.

I re-read tjkraz's response (thanks!) and think I'm starting to grasp the incentive. See if this is right. So, I'd get the $8 off per point plus I don't have to pay the full amount on dues. I'll get four months "free" which amounts to $191.50 (574.50/12*4). So $1200+191.50=$1391.50 off.

For the Feb 28 incentive, I got $10 off per point but paid all my dues for 2005. That's $1500 off.

How'd I do? :cool1:

What's the current base amount per point? Is it still $95; less the current incentive of $8 per point for new members?

Thanks again
