i figured out what rca and participating airlines are but i also see that u can use magical express with any airline. does that mean u have to pick up your own luggage if u dont go with one of their airlines? i really dont get it.

Okay, here's the scoop...DME (Disney's Magical Express) is availabe to anyone arriving at MCO and heading to a Disney owned resort. It doesn't matter what airline you fly in on. Before you leave home, you attach the yellow luggage tags they have sent you in your DME packet (you must reserve this through Disney first) to all your checked bags. You will get two yellow tags per person on the reservation. When you get to your home airport, you hand over the checked bags. Then you head off to security and fly to MCO. When you get to MCO, you just head directly to Side B, Level 1, and go to the DME Welcome counter and get signed in. You will be directed to the appropriate resort bus line. You should arrive at your resort within about 70 mins after deplaning. Your checked bags will be taken off the plane and put in a special area, where they will be sorted by resort and then trucked to the various resorts. Your checked bags can be expected to be delivered to your resort room within 3 hrs of your resort checkin. Okay?....

On to the departure from your resort....the day before you are to leave WDW, DME will slip a notice under your door, telling you what time you are expected at the DME bus stop the following day. On the day of departure, you will be able to check your bags through to your home airport IF you are flying on a participating airline....Airtran, AMerican, Delta, NW, Alaska, Continental, JB, United (and Ted). You have to be at the DME desk (RAC) at least 3 hrs before flight departure in order to check your bags. Say your flight is at 11:00 am, you need to be at the RAC desk (in the lobby) by 7:45 so as to be done by 8:00. The desk does not open until 5 am, and closes at about 1-2 pm. You will be issued boarding passes, so be sure to bring ID with you....it's the same thing as checking in at the airport. Then, return to the bus stop at the designated time...actually about 15 mins prior to the time they give you.
If you are not flying home on a participating airline....just go to the DME bus stop, with your bags, at the designated time. Your bags will go underneath the bus, you get on the bus and off you go. When you get to MCO, you will need to check your bags as usual.

Hope this helps.
