Hi everyone! My family (Husband, 14 yr old Daughter, 9 yr old daughter and me) are going to be staying at POR Sept 13-22. We have the dining plan (fingers crossed its free but we're going regardless...4 yrs since last visit!) but I'm confused about how the counter service works. Quite a few people have recommended splitting counter service meals because some of them are quite large but how do I do that when my youngest is on the the childs plan? Don't we have to order her a kids meal? Does the counter service not work that way and I can treat hers like an adult meal? Well, so long as she's not right beside me...LOL.

Help!

When you order her a meal, it must be from the children's menu at any location that offers one. But you don't HAVE to order her a meal. Now, sharing two or three adult meals will mean you will have leftover child meals, but that's an entirely different issue.

Ok, that makes sense. So basically we would end up with a whole whack of unused kids meals. I guess logically we could order one kid and one adult meal and all four split them or really just go for broke and everyone get their own meal.

Thanks for the info...much appreciated!!!

We have a couple strategies for kids CS meals. For starters, we always share CS meals because we'd rather be slightly full late a.m. then again mid afternoon - this just works better for us to have more mini-meals. Depending on everyone's mood we do one of a few things: split 1A and 1C meal around 11 a.m. then again about 2:30 p.m., split 2A meals then consider C meals a "snack" later. This will be the first year that DS will be 10, so when we go in September ("free" dining or not) we'll likely use and split A meals then use C meals when/if we want a snack that's a bit more nutritious than typical snacks. (Though if you plan, healthy snacks are doable with DDP snack credits - see confirmed snacks sticky thread...)
