So I work for a cardiologists office. I am also being seen due to a congenital heart condition. I was thinking about just letting my cardio take care of me, what do you think?

What does the cardiologist think? If he has no problem having an employee for a patient, then why not? I would imagine that you would only actually have to see him as a doctor a few times a year if you didn't have a problem.

It's only a conflict of interest if your cardiologist is emotionally involved with you, ie you are a spouse, a child or sleeping with them. ;) If you are just working in the office, it's fine.

I used to work in a doctors office where a couple of the employees were his patients. There was never a problem. He actually kept their charts locked up in his desk just so there were no worries about anyone else in the office taking a peek.

If you do decide to see the doctor where you work, it might not be a bad idea to do that. Just to protect yourself. You would be amazed at some people. I know a bunch that got fired for looking at their bosses charts for no reason other then curiosity. Hope what they saw with worth their jobs.:sad2:

Hey, if you are certain that they're the best around, of course, see them. And if you're concerned about your co-workers seeing your chart, yes, be upfront about that.

HIPAA-they could be fired if they looked into your chart w/o a reason. Heck-You can be fired for looking at your chart without permission. If you're comfortable with it then it's ok.
