Confirmation Sponsor Gift

For DS17's confirmation he has chosen a close family friend for his sponsor. She is 21 and they are good friends. She'll be driving into town for the evening from college and back the same night (it's on a Tuesday at 7 PM) - it's about 1 1/2 hours each way, so it's a huge effort on her part.

I think DS should give her a card and small gift as a thank you. Do you have any ideas what would be appropriate. The only thing I've liked so far is a Demdaco Willow Tree angel - either "Thank You" holding flowers or "Friendship" holding a dog. I'd love other suggestions - nothing too religious or too "mushy". I also thought of a picture frame with a picture of them during the ceremony, but I'd like her to have something that night.

BTW I ordered a share of Nike stock from OneShare for him as a gift from us - got the idea on the Dis!! I think he'll love it!! And he chose the patron saint of athletes for his confirmation name, so it all ties together!

I have always liked margaret furlongs designs. She has crosses, hearts and stars. THey are pretty but not too religious. I have given them for conformations and other events. Plus I think she is more available on the NW so it might be something unique out where you are.

What about the little silver braclet with the dangling heart. I've seen them around at quite a few places. It wasn't to expensive. She would always remember him and this occasion every time she wore it.

Okay, I'm just curious, who is the patron saint of athletes? (even though I feel like I should probably know this!)

St. Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes, soldiers and funeral directors! There is also a patron saint of computers!! They asked the kids to choose a name with some significance, so it took a bit of research on his part (thank goodness for the internet!!). He also said he liked the name because Sebastian is in The Little Mermaid!!
