Condom in bed..

The victim-blaming in this thread is making me cringe. Guys. Please stop telling OP how she should feel, or what she did wrong, she came here to share her experiences, vent her frustrations, and ask for contact info. You're all being exceedingly unkind. I'm appalled at the state of the room she found and will remember this thread when friends ask me for suggestions of where to stay.
Honestly though I'm not seeing much victim blaming. Are we not to treat the OP as an adult who is capable of making their own decisions?

We all agreed underwear and condoms=completely utterly gross

We didn't all agree on steps that led up to A) finding the condom (i.e. would have left room and move to another room in same resort/had room cleaned when it was clear it hadn't been cleaned before instead of choosing to stay in a uncleaned room) B) being moved to another resort C) what resort they were moved to D) what the room location was in the new resort in comparison to what the OP wanted.

I'm not entirely certain why we all have to be 100% no questions asked fully support everything the OP did and say shame on Disney they could have done better when the OP posted their story? If you want contact info just ask that you need contact info for issues that happened during your stay at Disney..there's nothing wrong with that and I def. have seen threads for that-even when pressed posters in some threads have left it vague and said 'thanks for the info'. The OP however gave their details thus allowing others to chime in.

Yes but they weren't in my bed or the bed that my children were laying in.

I would be open to staying at Pop even with this happening to the OP. Had it been me who found a used condom laying in bed with my kids it would never be an option again. I would be traumatized.

The point I was making is that the condom was in ONE bed, it wasn't a resort wide problem or issue like a bed bug would be. It was one gross, disgusting, person who left it there; and then add to that a housekeeper that possibly took the easy way out and just made the bed instead of changing the linens, blankets, etc. when the room was being changed over. I found a hair in my daughter's food one night at a local and very popular restaurant which happens to be one of my favorite places on top of it. Gross, yes. When we called over the manager, the meal got comped and a new plate was bought out. Did we go back the next week to eat there, yep.

I read many years ago about someone finding some pills on the floor of their room. So, especially with kids, it is always smart to give the place a good once over.

I found a pill on the floor near the bed last Sept at BWV. My kids weren't with us, and they are older, but if you have little ones its a good idea to check around.

I'm thinking the room wasn't meant to be handed out, that there was some sort of goof. It sounds to disgusting to just have been an oops. Stuff in the tub, panties on the floor, and a condom in the bed? No way was that room meant to be given to someone.

You can bet everyone is saying now how they're all going to look through their beds and sheets before they lay down in them. Come September, I wonder how many would've forgotten about this and gone about their usual business when they check in. *raises hand* I know I'll probably be one.

I get that but if I was the one who found it I wouldn't care that it was a ONE time deal. It happened to ME and I would never stay there again.

if you found a bed bug in your room, would you never stay in that hotel again either? yes a condom is gross, and so are bed bugs. and bonus is they travel with you, so now your own home is a bed bug hell.

There is a huge difference between bed bugs and a potentially used condom in the bed in terms of health and well-being.

However, the hot pink underwear would've sent me out of the room, with luggage and family in tow, to the front desk demanding to be moved to a different room in the same category or a new resort. Finding the condom in the bed, I would've not wanted to remain at the resort either.

It sounds like to me that somebody had a quickie in that room and neglected to clean up after themselves :rolleyes1

I look thru the beds now, because bedbugs.

i've probably been very lucky as i dont check for them and never had them or had them stowaway back home with us. i dont even know if i would see one - i thought they were super tiny?

We agree on this one. :) I know all the things I am "supposed" to do when I check into a hotel room. Whether or not that happens, who knows?

It's their waste you see, black dots on the underside corner of the mattress. Or on the bedding itself. Not everyone actually has a reaction to bed bugs, which is why they're so insidious. 3 people could stay in a room and take those bed bugs with them home, none the wiser. The forth might have extreme sensitivity and that's when the problem will get reported and treated.

The only reason I wouldn't stay in a hotel due to bedbugs is if multiple reviews mention it multiple times. I see the condom thing the same way. If I found, I don't know, serious maitenance issues every time I stayed on property, I'd never stay on property. But seriously that type of thing is rare for any hotel and very rare for Disney. Most of the complaints you see about values are over noise and amenities. Nothing else.

I check for obvious signs but other than that I really try not to think about it. Hotels are gross places. No hotel wipes every single surface between guests. I'm with the people who said the bugs, underwear and water would have meant I wouldn't be sleeping in that room. It wasn't cleaned. House keepers don't miss standing water, underwear in the bathroom. Under the bed or in a drawer, maybe. But not behind the toilet.

I didn't do that before this and probably won't after. I don't even scrub everything down with lysol either. I guess I live life on the edge.

I'm happily staying at Pop this summer. It's one of my favourite resorts. We've stayed there multiple times without incident. I'm not deterred or worried by this thread. But we tear our beds apart looking for bedbugs no matter where we stay. There is no guarantee we'd notice if the sheets were changed though. So sometimes ignorance is bliss.

If it were my first stay at Pop and I had the same experience as the OP, I also would have requested a move. The Op had booked preferred at Pop to be close to the lobby, then she was moved to the backside of POR. I totally get her frustration.

It was late at night, so I'm guessing that is all they had left. If location was important it would have been smart to tell them that when you are demanding to be moved to a different resort. But hindsight and all that....

I'm sure room location at POR was the last thing on her mind. She may not have even realized how big the resort actually is.

That goes into my comment regarding the conversation the OP had with the front desk.

Were questions asked about the new resort? Did they give her a map of the resort or a description of the resort?

That's something that regardless of how tired and frustrated you are you probably would want to know where this new room you're going to be put in is located at considering A) you had a poor experience with 1 room already so you're trying to minimize the risk of another poor experience B) you booked preferred and wanted to be close to transportation.

I guess it would depend on the resort knowledge of the OP. If you only have experiences at a value, you might assume that a move up from a value to a moderate might not necessitate a preferred room when in reality the opposite is usually true.
