I guess it would depend on the resort knowledge of the OP. If you only have experiences at a value, you might assume that a move up from a value to a moderate might not necessitate a preferred room when in reality the opposite is usually true.

No I'm not saying the OP should know. Good lord I don't even know myself about all the resorts-that's not even practical for people to know the layouts and all the verbage and whatnot.

What I was saying is if I'm being moved because of issues with my room then I'm going to be asking questions about my new room.

It's not that she booked preferred and expected preferred at POR. It's the reason she booked preferred..which was to be close to transportation. So if I'm being moved to another resort and even another room at the current resort and being close to transportation was important to me then you bet your butt I'm going to be mentioning this and asking if the new room is close to transportation.

So if they showed her a map or they gave her a description or she asked for more details or they gave her more details on the new room..that's what I was getting at.

She was mad they put her in the back of the resort..that is something one probably would have wanted to know before committing to being moved if being in the back was one of the last things you wanted..because again you booked a specific category wanting to be close to transportation.

When you are demanding to be moved at 10:30 pm there are probably not a lot of great room locations left. But at POR you can be in the boonies and be close to transportation.

I honestly don't think they thought about room location in that situation..... late at night with 3 kids who just went to bed discovering a used condom. They were probably so tired and angry, they just wanted to leave.

Yeah time of day would def. limit what's available. The OP did make it sound like they found out they were at the back of the resort later on and took affront to being put in the back though as you mentioned you could be in the boonies and yet be close to transportation.

It sorta becomes you know to be upset later on about the room location with the other resort if you didn't have communication prior to committing to move and since it's not a perfect world sometimes we have to choose what things matter more to us in less than desirable situations.

So then if being close to transportation is important to me then I would still accept being in the boonies because I got what I wanted--close to transporation and if I didn't feel like that was good enough then it becomes even more important to have a map or a description or ask questions.

Sometimes you just gotta say "yup my bad I didn't think about it" but instead the OP is blaming Disney for putting them in the back of the resort. Maxiesmom said there were places at POR that were close to transportation and yet in the boonies so without knowing their exact room location it's possible it was just being in the back of the resort they didn't like period no matter the transportation aspect.

People book Preferred at Values for all sorts of reasons. Heck I'm booked in a Preferred at Sports but only because with the room discount it was less than what I was previously booked at with a Standard room. I didn't do it for the pools or for the food court or for the transportation. It was purely a discount thing.

And really is it so hard to imagine that people have been in situations of high stress like the OP and yet were able to do X,Y,Z to try and prevent further issues? And on the flip side is it so hard to imagine that people have been in situations of high stress like the OP and yet forgot important to them details/questions but then were like "welp that's on me for not doing/asking X,Y,Z"?

Personally, I am of the belief that they did NOT do enough for her. If I found a condom in a bed I put my children in, I would be livid. You have a reasonable expectation of the room being at least half clean.

The amount of money that even a value resort costs nightly is astronomical compared to many other vacation destinations. Disney sells that a's part of the experience. Then they need to actually present that to the guests. This was a gross misuse of trust and, frankly, is appalling. The second she addressed the underwear and tub, it shouldn't have been, "Oh, we can send someone up to clean." It should have been, "Something isn't right here, that room was clearly not attended to, let us move you to another room and we are so sorry for the inconvenience." They shouldn't have asked the guest to wait for the room to be cleaned, when the description clearly shows it hadn't, even before the discovery of the condom.

I found menstrual blood on the wall and the back of the toilet seat when we checked in at a Disney resort once. I also found (someone else's) bra

Yeah but the OP states: "we agree that housekeeping will deep clean in the room tomorrow since it was so late and my kids were ready for bed." Notice how they said 'we'.

I don't know if the conversation was the front desk just asking outright to wait til the next day or if it was more of a "it's late at night housekeeping unavailable but here's what we can do" Either way the OP was in agreement with sleeping in a room that was not cleaned and had someone else's underwear on the bathroom floor. At that time for them it was late and the kids needed to get to bed so the room condition took a backseat until the condom was found. Like I mentioned before I wouldn't have stayed in a room unless it became clean (or I would have moved-see earlier post) that had someone else's underwear there and thus I wouldn't have found a condom unless I was looking around the room before going to the front desk. Honestly..underwear (edited: corrected word) can be just as nasty in the bodily fluid department so I wouldn't want to be in a room that had that on the floor..my mind would just go to what else was going on with the room.

You're really dwelling on her POR complaint. Being put in the boonies at POR was just part of her original vent. Let's not lose sight of the real reason she's mad. It sounds like she's accepted where she is and is going to do her best to enjoy her vacation. I hope she does.

The reason she complained about the POR room was because it was so far out and she had booked a preferred location room at POP. Never mind that she had to move.

I think when you find a used condom in your bed, that should be an automatic upgrade to a Deluxe

Someone presented cleaning the room, and even if OP did, management should have said, we would rather move you. This is unacceptable and we want you to know you're in a clean room and be able to rest comfortably.

The second that underwear was reported and the full tub, management should've insisted they move. Honestly, it is a health concern and I agree with the underwear containing as many bodily fluids. If I was management, I would've never agreed to a deep clean the next day. That is simply unacceptable.

If a guest finds blood smeared on the floor, is that a "since it is so late, we will send someone up to clean it tomorrow." situation? No. Neither is underwear or a condom. Management should've said, "I know it is late but we have to move you for your own safety." even if OP suggested waiting.

So someone left a condom in a bed and housekeeping made up the bed without noticing it? Housekeeping also didn't see the underwear, water in the tub and the Palmetto bug? This is poor to say the least.

I hope that the OP manages to enjoy PO at least somewhat once she calms down. What a lousy way to start a vacation.

Being angry and tired doesn't mean I can just pass the buck to someone else all the time. Besides that how many guests go back to their resorts tired and angry at something on just a normal day at Disney? To me it's not fair to put the blame solely on Disney for things like the room location.

every person will obviously react different than another -- if that was me though, i would've gone to the front desk at the bug and panty sighting (not even made it to the bathtub or condom part), spoke to a manager and demanded a new room. im not a person of change, if i have my heart and plans set on a resort, im finding a way to stay.

I know what my reaction would have been, and honestly I never would have gotten past the bathroom. I am not going to judge the OP, but I know what it means when a bathroom in a hotel is in that state...it has not been cleaned after the previous guest. I would have marched myself to the front desk and been moved immediately. No way will I ever chance my family sleeping in someone else's sweat, never mind what else one might be drooling on if the sheets were not cleaned.

Who cares how many rooms it had, the fact is the OP did not feel comfortable staying in that resort after seeing the lack of housekeeping. And considering what was left in her room I don't blame her.
If this had been any other hotel, other than a Disney one, I bet the reactions would be much different with people telling her there would be no way they would stay there after that.

And yes the not moving after that was her choice, but I still think they should have upgraded her to a comparable room there. If she paid extra for certain things at POP, she should still get those things in her upgrade.
The 10 suitcases, maybe it wasn't suitcases, just 10 pieces of luggage including all their carry ons and stuff.

I agree that the OP has every right to be dissatisfied with her new resort, but I asked her what she wanted, and she has not responded. She refused POP, and I bet dollars to donuts that at that hour there were few choices left. It is going to be difficult if she does not first: figure out how to edit her list of irritants, there is no way to get from one place to another, without using transportation.....and she had no car seats.

I understand she is not happy with POR, but unless she figures out what will make her happy, there will be no way to fix this. My guess is that the management at POP thought this would be a good move, and of all the mods available, the one that had the least challenges due to construction. POFQ was likely full...it books up solid.

The victim-blaming in this thread is making me cringe. Guys. Please stop telling OP how she should feel, or what she did wrong, she came here to share her experiences, vent her frustrations, and ask for contact info. You're all being exceedingly unkind. I'm appalled at the state of the room she found and will remember this thread when friends ask me for suggestions of where to stay.

No one is bashing the victim. I was shocked as well, but as an adult, it is necessary to be your own advocate, and it is necessary to make decisions based on what you see. Would you have slept in a room with a bugs, a filled bathtub and dirty unders in the bathroom? Seriously?? Who does that?

Once she realized that POR was not going to make her happy, she really should have addressed that. I think that she was caught in a mistake in the first place, did not recognize that, and since she refused to stay at POR her options were then limited to what was left.

I get that but if I was the one who found it I wouldn't care that it was a ONE time deal. It happened to ME and I would never stay there again.

Okay, we know each other from all our conversations here. Tell me honestly: would you have put your kids in a bed after having seen the bathroom? I doubt it. You would have gotten that situatin rectified. We are never meant to knwo what others do in those beds, and had the OP known better she woudl have recognized the room was never cleaned.
