I just booked BWV and spoke to someone that stayed there last year. They said the rooms were run down, disgusting, and needed to be renovated. Has anyone else had this problem? What is the condition of BWV now?

The hotels renovate/refurbish on a rolling basis. It is luck of the draw whether you get a newly refurbished room or not. Personally I have had more issues with rundown room conditions at OKW than at BWV. The musty odor in some rooms is another story though.

We just got back from the Boardwalk 2 weeks ago. We had 2 different rooms while there and they both could use some refurbishing. My sister and my daughter also had 2 different rooms this trip there and their rooms could have use the same. We were there in Nov.2007 and all together had 4 different rooms that needed refurbishing, so out of 10 different rooms in 2 years i haven't seen any refurbished rooms yet. Don't get me wrong we love the Boardwalk Villa's, i just think they could use some refurbishing. We had a great time there, it is one of the best resorts, just needs some freshing up.

We just got back this past Sunday from BWV. We were in a GV the 1st two nights and a 2 BR for the 2nd two nights. They were both very nice. I didn't notice an odor or anything disgusting. I agree they could use some updating (carpet a little worn, small TVs, smudged paint...) but nothing major. Our first room was near the elevator and the second was way down at the end of the hall, both on different floors, and definitely will stay here again!!!

Rumor has it that in May BWV will begin refurbishing rooms. It has been stated that every 10 years or so the rooms get a more thorough refurbishment. Since BWV rooms are about 10 years old now the schedule makes sense. That being said, our rooms in Oct., Dec. and Jan. were okay. A few dings, paint scrapes, etc. but that is how it is with hotel rooms almost as soon as they are occupied. I am hoping that the refurbishment will include new appliances. The burners on the stoves are usually out of whack.

the rooms we had were all studio rooms, they were not disgusting, just needs a little refurbishing....i would stay there again and probably will next time we go.

:thumbsup2 I was there this past October in a 1BR and are room was just fine. I would call in normal wear and tear, nothing to complain about. Don't worry, have a great time.

We stayed at the BWV for the first time at the end of February. While you could tell it was time for some freshening up, there was absolutely nothing remotely “disgusting or run down” about it! We LOVED it and are now considering an add-on! :yay:

Have a great trip!

We were in a 2br BW view MLK weekend and our room had new carpet, drapes etc. Now the appliances are on their last legs.

We were at BWV in February and stayed in two different 1BR and one studio. The rooms were fine. The first 1BR had some pulls in the carpet and didn't look perfect, but it was okay. The other two rooms were definitely fine. I think it really just depends.

I guess it also depends on the metric a person uses. "Disgusting" is such a subjective term...

Hi: We had a large group there last October. We had a gv, 2br, and 1br. All had had the pull out sofas replaced with the new version. There will always be a need for refurbishing on all units in all resorts. Things wear out; people are rough on resort rooms. I really would love to have the stoves replaced; we've never had one without a "screwy" burner. We think all this is perfectly acceptable though.

Our BWV studio last fall was fine. Very clean, new pull-out sofa, everything in good working order. Not rundown-looking at all. The 2-bd we had on our previous trip had a few worn edges, a couple of spots of chipped paint and the ubiquitous wonky burner - nothing terrible, but it could have used a bit of freshening up.

DisFlan

When we went over New Years, I noticed that the hallway carpet had stains on it and some of the funiture in the room were scuffed up a bit. I heard they have scheduled a big rehap and it is probably needed. Our room was clean and everything was in good working order so I would not worry about room conditions detracting from your stay.

I've been there almost every year (sometimes 2x in a year) for the last 9 years and I've never had a room that wasn't beautiful, clean and fresh smelling. Have I seen a scuff on a piece of furniture here and there? Yup, did it make one bit of difference in the overall condition of the room? Nope.

Don't worry, the resort is great! Have a terrific vacation.

We stayed in a 1 BR over Christmas week. It was clean and in good repair. We were completely satisfied with our room.

We stayed in a studio in January. We had a pool view. The room was in perfect condition, and we loved the resort. The TV is small though.

By no means would I say that they are run down and disgusting. That is just flat out false. NOW I will certainly agree that they could use some refurb, but I think the person you spoke too vastly exaggerated the condition.
