Other than the optional Mousekeeping tip envelopes and the bell hops, are there standards for tipping the Concierge staff?

We are staying at the Poly Concierge, LV in 12 days. It is our first trip and we are VERY excited.

Concierge staff doesn't get tipped.

It is certainly appropriate to give anyone in the concierge area who is especially helpful a small gift. I usually bring a box of good quality chocolates for the entire staff to share and give it to them on our last day, provided the service has been good.

I've heard about people bringing something from their hometown region to give as a gift.

Hope this helps.

I believe that a gratuity to a particular concierge who was especially helpful is appropriate. When my DW and I stayed at WL in May, we gave a gratuity to one of the concierge staff who went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us during our vacation. He provided a lot of extra service that helped make our stay very magical. When we got back to Chicago, we sent him a special "Chicago" magnet because we knew he collected magnets.

We just got back from staying Concierge at the Poly. We tipped Concierge turndown service 3.00 a night. We left it in the same kind of mousekeeping envelopes we printed up for the day maid as well. I do believe you tip Concierge.

Hi Cinderalla:

We did the same thing for the turndown staff. Love the polynesian.

The concierge people do not do the turndown, that is housekeeping. It is appropriate to tip them.

Well, I know that the concierge staff at the Grand, BWI, AKL, YC and, in my experience, Poly also, aren't even permitted to accept monetary tips. What I usually do when a Concierge CM has really gone "above & beyond" is a gift certificate of some type -- I've given American Express gift cheques, and a few times to the Grand concierges, a GC to the Spa there .. which they really appreciated!
