Hi everyone! We will be on the Dream in May staying in a concierge suite and I was just wondering if there are any special events or character greetings for concierge guests? Any gifts left in the room? I was going to order something special for our room, but wanted to see if anything is left for us first before I order. Thanks so much!

I'm in a concierge room in May as well. What sailing are you on? We are on May 5th. Anyway, I have a list of things to ask the concierge when I call on Monday. One of the things I am going to ask is that they email me a list of the concierge benefits (I don't know of another word to use to describe it). I did ask a couple of questions when I called the concierge a few weeks ago. And they didn't seem to be 100% on what the Dream will provide. So my guess is that until it sails a few times, they still won't know...but it's on my list to ask. If I get an email from them in response, I'll post it here. :)

This is the email I received from DCL regarding Concierge..hope it helps..

Nice perk...unless you've reached Platinum Castaway Club status. Six more to go for us for that though. :(
*A dedicated check-in desk in the terminal.
Big deal. 30 seconds after boarding the ship, this really won't matter.,

*At the terminal, concierge Guests are offered priority boarding and are
escorted to the front of the queue.
Another non-perk....unless you get to the port late, then it could be of some benefit.

*An exclusive Concierge Level Lounge accessible by the Guest's Key to
The World Card is available on Deck 12.

Internet access could be nice if they provide the computers since there isn't a public internet location on the Dream.
Large screen TV? They're all over the ship
Complimentary food and beverages? LOL...is this really needed on a cruise ship?? Now if they're talking alcoholic beverages.... :)

*Private access to the Senses Spa & Salon for Guests 18 years of age and older.
*yawn*

The World Card.

A walled in deck without a pool where I can't look out and see the sea...or the island we happen to be ported at. Not for me.

Pretty sure I'd like this...which is part of the problem. Having to get up, get dressed and get out of the room to have breakfast is part of the motivation to get us going in the morning.

*Daily complimentary sweets such as petit fours or cookies are placed in the stateroom.
Again...on a cruise ship do I really need more access to food?

*Onboard every cruise, concierge Guests receive an onboard reception.

Interesting...but don't know.

*Guests can reach the onboard Concierge Team via telephone. There is no concierge desk located onboard.
???

Gratuities for the Concierge Team are at the discretion of the Guest.
The team that doesn't staff a desk that has to be reached by telephone? Perhaps I should send a gratuity to the reservation agent who I booked my cruise with over the phone.

I'm sure the OP is looking for positive responses since they have already booked a concierge cabin.

We've stayed concierge on the Wonder and we rec'd treats in the room each day, a cocktail reception with a character or 2 one afternoon, a gift left in the cabin the last day.

Was it worth it though? I've considered it a couple times on the Magic/Wonder and when I've priced it out, the cost difference was such that I could have almost taken 3 non-concierge cruises for every 2 concierge. Perhaps it's a little more affordable now that they have regular family size staterooms in concierge vs having to book a suite. Not sure I'm crazy about so far forward on the ship though.

btw: Has anyone experienced being on the balcony in the two royal suites or that 1br between them while at sea? I know we used to like going to the front of the ship when underway to experience the 'hurricane in your face' winds up there. Wouldn't it be the same in those three rooms???

I'll report in mid march but hopefully someone else can before that

Will be interesting to hear....especially since the staterooms in your sig (12052 and 12054) don't seem to officially exist. :)

'Worth it' is relative to each person. For us it was since we were sailing for relaxation and not to experience the rest of the ship so much.

OOPS! typos ... meant 12502 and 12504

good pick up

Dang...thought there might be secret mid-ship concierge suites :)

Interested to hear about how windy the balcony is in 12502 when the ship is underway.

I've done it on another cruise line for a Trans-Atlantic crossing with a few days of rough seas. Will probably never book in that location again because of movement. You could look out the window and literally see the front of the ship moving up and down. :scared1: The suites had fully enclosed balconies with 2 large windows that slid open. Rarely opened them because the wind was fierce. The view from that part of the ship was absolutely amazing especially as we sailed into NYC!!

hopefully those funky curves plexiglass railings were properly designed in the wind tunnel :lmao:

will be interesting to see how it goes in that hot tub at sea ;)

For me, it has been worth it. I don't sail until May 5th but I have a 3 and 5 year old and we already live in EST. Concierge was able to change me to the 5 PM show with the 6 PM seating even though it was showing up as being wait listed. The dinners on the cruise is a big deal to us and eating at 8:30 would not work with kids our age...so we were going to have to do buffet. All of my money for concierge has already been well spent in getting this main seating time. Seriously...I would have paid for this and get nothing else in return. Family dinners on the cruise are very important to us. But it probably isn't everyone's priority. Not to mention boarding 4,000 guests...we'll get to move to the front of the queue...yes, I'll take that too! :thumbsup2

I have felt its worth it for those sorts of perks ... the access, the reduced hassles, the greasing of the wheel without ever really making a stink

Hi! OP here. I just really wanted to know as I'd like to have something waiting for us in our room to welcome my DS and DH and if something was already in there, I didn't want to overdo it. Sounds like I will order something! Now if I can get concierge to get us off the waitlist for main dining THAT would be FANTASTIC as my DS is 3.5 and will never make it through the late seating! Thanks for that tip! Having the hot breakfast and access to food on the dining room menus will be nice, too. My DH is not a big Disney fan and I need to make this as hassle free for him as possible, so concierge is the way to go for our family.

Most people either love concierge or don't. You get what you pay for and although we prefer concierge perks, we have friends/family that would rather carry on a cooler and stay in the cheapest rooms and eat at the buffet. To each their own. If it doesn't seem worth it, save your money.

I called the concierge line, gave my reservation number to her, she had to request it via email and then she got back to me within 2 hours saying it was changed. It is showing that way when I log into my reservation now. :thumbsup2
