And, do they also share the staff with the Tonga Suites (CL) until 5?
I honestly don't know if they share the same Cast Members. However what I do know is those staying in the Tonga Longhouse also have access to the lounge in the Hawaii Longhouse.

I think she probably meant that the offerings were more plentiful in RPC than BWI CL and not the quality of the food. I have read nothing but rave reviews of BWI CL, so I'm sure the offerings are great, otherwise I don't think there would be so many great reviews :thumbsup2
That's a very good point and I honestly think their food offerings are great.

Yeah, I know you get it - you've been there and done that, too:upsidedow

Weren't you upgraded to suites at AKL and YC? I know from personal upgrade experience, that being upgraded to a suite can skew your opinion a tad. It's hard to be absolutely unbiased when you've received a wonderful upgrade. So I have to think about that when I seem to be getting REALLY enthusiastic about WL/CL.
Yep we were upgraded to a suite at Jambo, and before that we were at Kidani..we were upgraded to a Savannah view there, then because of overbookings for our last 2 nights they asked if we'd mind moving to Jambo House (I figured why not) Knew it was a suite..but we NEVER stayed CL, so that was all new to us...The Cms there were nice, and I got a huge welcome basket and a birthday card. The suite was at the end of a long hall on the second floor, but we didn't mind. We did a resort only stay, and it was SO cool. I cried checkout morning.....Great memory you have, my friend :worship: And the YC suite, if I was not offered that there would've been no way of making me happy after overbooking my RPC Deluxe King room! :upsidedow

I'd love to read your thesis defense! I like having TONS of info. before making decisions so I don't mind info. overload.

BTW, the WL rehab isn't a rumor, but the start date did change from 2-12 to 4-15-12. I'll get another update from the CL Manager in about 70 days:goodvibes

Ooooo...very exciting about WL! We really, really loved that resort (most especially because we live in Florida, so it truly feels like an escape to us), but really, really didn't like the rooms. Would be great if they were done in time for the holidays, but I have no idea how long these things take. :confused3

I have to go pick up my kid at school. I'll get to work on my thesis after that. ;)

The rehab completion estimate was "up to two years," bowbat.

Every time I look at Tripadvisor or AllEars I see a common complaint that the Hawaii rooms are in need of repair and are showing their age. Of course, I've read this about WL and CR, too, and so far, I haven't experienced this, but it doesn't mean that others haven't.

Has anyone been completely satisfied with the cleanliness and state of their Hawaii room? How would you rate the condition of your room and the mousekeeping? Can you tell I had a cleanliness issue with my last Poly stay?

While I'm on the topic, how efficient were the lounge CMs at replenishing the food? I've read multiple reports that once they run out, they don't replenish the food up until the serving time ends - they just tell the guest that they're "all out."

My only Club Level stay at the Polynesian was back in December 2007. So even though it was a while ago here is what I remember and hopefully others who just stayed there can also reply.

Our room didn't have any problems with it not being clean, however when we checked-in a light was burnt out and it took 3 days until it got fixed. Now the reason it took so long was an issue with the Maintenance Cast Members not coming right away, despite the Club Level Cast Members always calling them.

As for the food offerings from what I remember they were always replaced whenever something was almost empty, so I can't recall them running out of something and not replacing it before it was time to take everything away. However I can't speak for others who would have seen that, all I can do is speak of my experience only.

I get your issues, we were walked from the Poly to GF a few years ago after I could not take it any more. The Poly and CR were resorts I grew up going to so it pains me to see the state the Poly currently is IMO. I don't stay at the Poly anymore.

With regards to CL, we find the offerings more varied at GF especially for breakfast. Also, several years ago when one of my children was going through a rather odd food phase the chef went out of his way to make several evening offerings that she would eat.

We do love BWI CL, they have a wonderful staff and if DH were not quite so taken with GF RPC we would do BWI more often. I do think the GF food offerings are more to our taste and of a larger variety than BWI.

Just wanted to post this picture of a White Chocolate Mickey Mouse we got as a welcome back gift from the Boardwalk Inn Club Level Cast Members. Even though this was a complete surprise and something we didn't expect to get, this is one more example at how great they are.

We stayed CL at the Poly Dec 17-22, 2011. We were in room 3525 GV. We did not find any issues with the cleanliness or functioning of the room. Mousekeeping was always great. Everything worked (lights, switches, alarm clock, etc) except the refrigerator, which was not working when we arrived. We reported it and our fridge was replaced (they emptied and restocked our bottled waters) by the time we came back to the room. We stayed AKL CL in Sept 2010 and I would say the cleanliness and updating of the room was comparable (knowing that AKL is very new, relative to Poly).

We never had issues with food replenishing in the CL. If something wasn't out that we wanted, we asked (usually yogurt in the AM) and received. It was never an issue.

We loved our stay and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Aw, poop. Well, there's always next year. ;)

Okay, now my thoughts on the CL stays we've had so far. I'll try to make this as clear & concise as possible, but I do have a tendency to wander.

CONTEMPORARY
This was our first CL experience, and it's hard for me to be objective about it. We had booked a standard room at the CR, but they upgraded us to a two-bedroom suite. :cloud9: I'll try to be fair, though. ;)

We were met at check-in by a CM, although not before we waited in the regular check-in line for a few minutes. Obviously, we didn't know we had been upgraded so we weren't looking for a CL CM, and I think because we valeted we got to the check-in area sooner than the CM expected. Anyway, our room was on the 14th floor, Tower Club level. The lounge there isn't huge, but it was never crowded. In fact, we were usually the only ones there. There was, however, always at CM at the desk in front of it and often another one in the lounge area itself. The CMs were nice & helpful and one (bigger, bald guy) was SUPER friendly. The food was fairly average; I don't recall being overall impressed or dismayed by it. One of the best parts of staying CL here is being able to watch Wishes with the music piped in, glass of wine in hand, no crowds. We had a Bay Lake view room, so it was like the best of both worlds.

Our room actually wasn't *quite* ready when we arrived -- one of the bedrooms hadn't been cleaned. Mousekeeping came right away, though, and I actually had a nice chat with our Mousekeeper. We hadn't been to Disney in 10+ years at that point, and she gave me a lot of good info. Our room was well taken care of the rest of our stay. Everything in our room was in good working order, though the furnishings in the living room had suffered a bit at the hands of someone wielding a pen. ;)

In a general sense, we love all the shops & restaurants & hustle & bustle in the CR lobby. And obviously we loved the convenience of the location and being able to wait for the monorail in air conditioned comfort. Didn't love the waits for the elevator, which I imagine can get really bad during busy times of year (we were there the week after Thanksgiving; pretty slow time overall).

We would definitely stay at CR again and, in fact, have tried, but discounted rooms seem to be hard to come by.

POLY
For our stay here, we actually booked CL (standard GV room). We chose the Poly because it's the favorite of just about everyone we know. Quite possible that resulted in our expectations being too high. :confused3

When we pulled up to the Poly, a CM came to greet us & we told him we were staying CL. He got someone to valet the car and another someone to take us to the Hawaii longhouse via golf cart. There was a little bit of a wait for this to happen, but it was really busy (spring break) so nothing unreasonable. At Hawaii, a very nice male CM got us all checked in and got our tickets for us & showed us (briefly) around the lounge. While he was helping us, another CM (older lady) showed up for work and was grumbling and complaining as she got settled in. Really unprofessional.

The lounge is HUGE and has an amazing view. There is no shortage of space here. Again, we were there at a VERY busy time, but never had a problem getting a table, even during the morning rush. The food, though, is sort of all crammed in one corner, so it can get kind of congested in that area. Also, I only saw a CM in the lounge on two occasions. One of those times was during the evening offerings. I went to get a glass of wine & the bottle was empty. I asked a CM for a new bottle. He said, "I *just* put a new bottle out." I held up the empty bottle and said, "I don't know what to tell you, but it's empty." He sighed loudly and got another bottle out. REALLY? :sad2: That said, the food was very good & was replenished as needed. (On another food-related note, we also got room service one night and it was outstanding.)

Our room, to answer your other question, was fine. We had no maintenance issues, no mousekeeping issues. It was clean & in good repair. Very spacious, too -- I really enjoyed that it had both a daybed and an easy chair & ottoman. We found the rooms to be very dark, though, which isn't to our taste.

A lot of why we didn't love the Poly in general is just personal preference. Again, we thought the rooms were too dark. It was rainy while we were there, and we didn't love having to run through the rain to get to the GCH or TTC. The pool area seemed WAY too small for the mobs of people around it. And we live in Florida, so the whole tropical vibe is old-hat to us.

Would we stay there again? Maybe. The room size and the location are major benefits, but considering all the things we weren't so crazy about, it's down pretty far on our list.

BOARDWALK INN
Now this place. Well. What can I say? I love it. I LURVE it.

We self-parked here and hiked up the big hill to the resort (my husband: "If we ever come here again, remind me to valet."). CM David came forward to greet us, "This must be the XXXX Family!" He was SO friendly, escorted us up to our room, telling us about the resort & showing us around a bit on our way. That definitely starts things off on the right foot. Another very friendly CM checked us in. The lounge is decent sized and very comfortable, and there were always at least two super-friendly CMs in there (though many times three or four). The food was pretty good -- I'd rank it above CR but below Poly -- and very plentiful. Also, the CMs there seemed like they genuinely wanted to help.

Our room was lovely. Bright, spacious, elegant. Not as big at CR and Poly rooms, but we didn't feel cramped or anything. It was clean and in great condition, except for the balcony...that wasn't properly cleaned our first day, but was after that (we didn't complain or anything, so mousekeeping must've just realized it on their own).

In a general sense, we loved the hotel and especially loved the activity & atmosphere on the boardwalk. Didn't love that almost all of the shops & restaurants are outside of the resort. No rain during our stay, but it would be a drag if there was. Obviously loved the convenience to EPCOT and DHS.

Would we stay there again? ABSOLUTELY. The *only* reason we're not staying there in February is because we really are (right now, with one little kid) MK people.

So we'll be trying GF to see if that becomes our new favorite MK resort.

And in April we'll be trying AKL for a one-night, no-park stay...mainly to appease my sister, who ADORES it there. I swear, she gets personally offended whenever we stay somewhere else at Disney, so we're going there (and taking my mom) to make her happy. (Although it is a gorgeous resort, so I'm happy to try it. Who knows? Maybe we'll fall in love, too.)

And I want to try YC, also, because it seems it might be similar to BWI, but with all its shops & restaurants inside.

We're lucky enough to live close by, so we can make several short trips per year. Makes it easy to try out different resorts without having to be too invested in them. I mean, worst case scenario if we hate it, we're only there for a few nights. We would like to eventually have a home base, but we'll see if that happens. We're fickle. :confused3

That sounds like a great review and your experience reminds me of how great their Club Level Cast Members are.

That's a very good point and I honestly think their food offerings are great.

That's what I hear about the food offerings at BWI CL, along with how great the CMs are :).

Every time I look at Tripadvisor or AllEars I see a common complaint that the Hawaii rooms are in need of repair and are showing their age. Of course, I've read this about WL and CR, too, and so far, I haven't experienced this, but it doesn't mean that others haven't.

Before our stay at the Poly (9/2007), I read alot of reviews that the resort was in need of a refurb. But if I remember correctly, the Poly just finished a refurb not too much before our stay, so I'm not sure how accurate those reviews were :confused3. I can't comment on the Hawaii building as we were in Samoa, but we didn't have any problems at all.....our room was clean upon arrival and housekeeping was great. However, lately I've been reading ALOT of reviews of rooms in dire need of an update (with the Hawaii building at the top of the list). I have also heard that food is not replenished in the lounge.....like you said, when it's gone, it's gone. I know every resort gets bad reviews, but it seems like Poly CL is especially getting hit hard with bad reviews. I wouldn't have a problem booking a GV room at the Poly, but all the not-so-good CL reviews are making me rethink going with CL.

Like you, we there in 2007 (a GV room, not CL) and we had a fabulous stay with no problems. But now all I read are very poor reviews of the resort overall. Even though we've only stayed there once, we fell in love with the resort the minute we checked in; so it's sad to hear all the poor reviews :(.

With regards to CL, we find the offerings more varied at GF especially for breakfast.

I don't have alot to compare to, but I was really impressed with the lounge/offerings at GF RPC ;).

Hi all! Has anyone stayed in a "Garden view" club level room at the YC? I've stayed in Lagoon view Club rooms there multiple times but I'm considering booking the Garden view room for May. We like being more down the hall, away from the lounge & elevators etc. So I'm wondering if this room's location would work for us or if I should just go with our usual Lagoon view. Anyone have any room numbers or locations they have been in? Thanks!!

I stayed in a Regatta Club GV room 8-10. I wanted a quiet location w/o a connecting door and it was that, however, I was confused about it being GV because we had SAB right in front of our balcony and if you looked to the right you could see Crescent Lake, so this might have been an upgrade.

I was very happy that the room was far enough from the elevators/lounge so it was very quiet near the end of the hall (we were next to a suite which was the last room in the hallway). But, I wasn't happy with having a balcony in front of SAB as it was very noisy all day/evening.

Loved all the nitty-gritty details - thank you! I've only stayed on the 12th floor of the CR, but I've always read pretty good reviews of the 14th. I wasn't impressed with the 12th though, but I still love the Tower rooms.

We had one stay at the Poly that was very nice and then our next stay was pretty much awful (non-CL), so after a few nights we switched to the CR. I guess since we once switched mid-trip, I'm just to scared to go back. Your review highlights what I think are common Poly CL complaints. I really don't think there's any excuse other than below average management. I've always had the feeling that the Poly has some management issues - I just don't think the resort is well run, especially when compared with some of the other Deluxe - just my personal opinion though.

That's what I hear about the food offerings at BWI CL, along with how great the CMs are :).

I don't have alot to compare to, but I was really impressed with the lounge/offerings at GF RPC ;).

Thanks for your review :).
I really think the Poly suffers from both bad housekeeping/resort management and a poor infrastructure. Those longhouses have not withstood the test of time well.

Has anyone stayed here at WL recently enough to shed some light on what the daily offerings are for breakfast and in the evenings? I've been searching and I can't find anything recent. Trying to decide if we are going to Upgrade our trip or not...

Thanks!

In my signature is the hyperlink to the WL thread. I have many CL food photos on the first page.

The Old Faithful Club has the following at breakfast:
0630-0700: Juice and coffee service

0700-1030: Cereal, (seasonally) oatmeal, yogurt, juices, milk, coffee, chocolate muffins, berry muffins, pastries, bagels, toast, peanut butter/cream cheese/jelly, fresh fruit cut-up and whole (apples/bananas).

Appetizers: 5-7, they vary. I have photos (with the names) of everything on the thread. They are wonderful and made at Artist Point.

8-10: Fresh berry cobbler (from Artist Point) which is an absolute favorite of DH. They also have other desserts such as Magic Cookie bars and brownies.

Thanks! That does sound like it should have been a lagoon view room. SAB noises don't bother us, but we HATE hearing the lounge CMs or housekeeping outside our door at at 6:30- 7AM. :sad2:

What a small world.....we're in NW Indiana, about 3 hours from Bloomington :goodvibes.

I remember reading that you cancelled your Poly ressie to stay at WL. We've only stayed at the Poly once in a GV room and loved it......we had the best stay and LOVED the resort :thumbsup2......but CL scares me from all of the reviews I've read. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who's hesitant. My DS16 really wants to stay there again in July and in all honesty, the volcano pool is our favorite pool of all of the resorts we've stayed at, so that is persuading me to book the Poly, but I'm having a hard time biting the bullet on CL :rolleyes1. DH said to book the GF, but if I did that I'd want RPC and the room/view I would want would be overlooking the construction.....so needless to say, I'm having a hard time making a decision :sad2:. I still haven't had any luck convincing my DSs to let me book BWI, so it looks like I will have to pick something so I can get it booked and maybe head over to the RC's thread again as I bounce back and forth between several resorts or room categories :rotfl: :rotfl:.

We're NW Indiana too! Hobart! The first time we stayed CL it was the closest to perfect that you can get! The CMs at the Club Desk, Mousekeeping (Pham was an exceptional person!), even the guy who drove us to the Hawaii longhouse. Last year, we had a couple of issues. Pham was our mousekeeper again, and again was wonderful. The CMs in the lounge were all helpful, friendly and polite. The desk CMs left a lot to be desired... On one day of our visit, we got a phone message telling us that the hot water would be down for the day. We weren't concerned because we were going to MNSSHP and didn't plan on being back in the room until after midnight. Next morning, no hot water! I took the coldest bath in the history of America and went to the desk. I didn't want my DH and DS taking cold showers. They were trying to find open rooms in other buildings for people staying in Hawaii to use. At least they gave us a solution--not perfect, but it was a solution. But the CMs were very smug about the whole thing. Didn't seem to care. (One man was throwing a fit, and I kind of felt sorry for them though.)
The night before we were leaving, my DH took my DS to the volcano pool while I packed up our room. Somehow they got separated. My DS was 7 at the time--and he's pretty shy. My son ran around telling people he was "separated from his family". The only thing he knew was that we were staying in Hawaii. He banged on the CL door, and a CM let him in. He told him that he was lost, and the CM did nothing! DS ended up going up and down the elevator trying to find our room. He finally went outside and a family took him back to the pool and he found his dad. That's the most terrifying thing that's ever happened while at WDW. If that CM had asked my DS his last name, he could have called the room and I would have come and gotten him. I was in the room!
As far as everything else, I think CL has stayed consistant. We really love staying there and will be there again in September!

You could be right. Our stay in 2007 was great and housekeeping was wonderful, but lately there have been alot of complaints about it.

We are in Valpo, so not too far from Hobart :goodvibes. Thanks for your input regarding CL. I booked Poly GV today for July as I just couldn't get myself to do CL, but I'm sure I will keep going back and forth as to whether or not to upgrade :rolleyes1.
