Thanks for posting recent information. :goodvibes

Kathy

Absolutely! :)

I forgot to say they had beer and wine in the evening, and cordials with dessert. I didn't care for the wine, so we ended up buying a bottle of wine in the Germany pavilion at Epcot to keep in the room. I wish we would have thought of that before the trip was almost over. But now we know for next year!

As usual, a handful of clueless types are here at Sugar Loaf at the GF. Imagine walking barefoot in an area where food is served? And thanks to those who come in from the pool and sit down in the dining area. Ah, those wet seats! Motel 6 might be a better fit for these folks.

All the best. :thumbsup2

The beat goes on. Although you can't enter a 7-11 or any other convenience store unless you pass the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" rule, you can at the Grand Floridian's Sugar Loaf club level building. We just got back from "Twilight Refreshers" where we noticed a bare-chested Neanderthal in his wet bathing siut. Now get this: he's looking over the beers and sees a Samuel Adams Summer Ale. And then he quips: "Ugh, Sam Adams Summer Ale; I'm going with an American brand!" :rotfl:

You can't make this stuff up.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Love it! I saw some eye poppers myself last summer at RPC. My personal fav was the woman wearing her CL bathrobe to the lounge. With nothing on underneath.

Gotta love the "clueless" types!

I will say the AKL CL staff were vigilant about shoes in the lounge. And some guests were NASTY about it, too!

ITA! YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!

Thanks for the great laugh! :rotfl: So funny cause it's true!

Thank you so much for the food information! I want to make sure I do this right and although I certainly don't mind stopping for food somewhere, I really didn't want to miss some tasty tidbits at the Lounge either. ;) I hope they have zebra domes and chocolate covered strawberries while we are there. Well, chocolate anything will be good!

If you have IPO book your ADRs and you end up changing times and/or add or cancel some of the reservations, do you notify IPO of the changes?

Can IPO or Club Level CM get you specific bottle of wine/champagne for our CL room if I request it before the trip?

Maybe CR in room dining has wine list. I'll research that!

There's really no reason to tell them, unless you need an updated itinerary ASAP. If you do, email them that you made some changes and they will then update your itinerary. Some IPOs will actually take a look and see that you've made some changes and update it before they email it to you (WL did this). Other IPOs will simply email your existing itinerary that might be out-of-date (Poly did this). If you don't need it now, it should be updated when you check-in.

In the past when speaking to a former Cast Member of the Atrium Club he told me that in the past guests have requested various Beers that were not available in the lounge, so if you find a specifc brand of Wine or Champagne I would not the IPO know about it and see what they can do.

Is it typical for IPO to misplace and not know where all the information is that you send to them before the deadlines for dining!

Got an email today for each room saying they do not have any info from us BUT I sent it all when they sent the link to us. They blame it all on a Third Party company!!!

Disney IPO own up and take the blame and make it right please!

Is that not why we stay on the club floors so these things do not happen!!!

Help!!! Now I have to try and find all of the requests that we sent them and hope they can make it happen! Well there goes Cindy's and Chef Mickey's!!!

This is a good excuse to "try and make a meal off of club"!

Sorry disboard pals - but thanks for letting me blow off steam in a caring environment.

Disney I hope you are listening!:guilty:
That sounds really frustrating. Which IPO are you dealing with? Do you have an update for us on whether or not you got your ADRs?

I notice from your signature that you've stayed MANY times at the GF, so I assume this isn't your first SL stay? Just curious if you've noticed an overall decrease in the decorum of the patrons or do you think it's an overall decrease in the lounge staff not enforcing the rules or a bit of both?

For example, last August I stayed at the CR/CL and rules were not enforced in the 8 days we were there. But, at WL last Christmas, a teenager tried to enter the lounge in his stocking feet and was immediately told by a lounge CM that shoes were required and he couldn't enter without them. I thanked the CM for enforcing the rules that make CL more enjoyable for all of us and she said she never hesitates to remind guests of the rules so that everyone can have a better CL experience. As a result, I personally found the WL lounge far more pleasant, neat and orderly than I found the Atrium Club.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that in my CL experiences, the guests are no different (good or bad) from lounge to lounge, but what doesn't remain a constant is the enforcement of existing rules. If lounge CMs choose for whatever reason to ignore the guests in bathing suits, robes, bare feet, unsupervised children using their fingers to serve themselves, etc... then perhaps we need to offer gentle reminders to the CMs of the "infractions" we witness. Maybe they think we don't notice these things or we don't care:confused3

:thumbsup2 I have been getting an updated itinerary from GF's IPO, and have actually been letting them makes the changes for me. :)

You ask a good question of the pp. :goodvibes

For me, I found that guests at GF RPC CL were a lot more casual about the "rules" than the guests at BWI CL or at AKL CL. And I find this odd. :confused3

It wasn't that I saw the CM's enforcing guest behavior, the guests just weren't engaging in unacceptable behavior at BWI or at AKL or. for that matter, Poly CL. But at RPC, the woman who had on only her bathrobe, and who chose to lounge on the sofa, was not ever told by CM's that she might want to cover up. :confused3

Also, the next day when the Mom with her barefoot kids were in the lounge, they were also not told to put on footwear. The barefoot kids were pointed out to the CM's by a few people, but nothing was ever said about it.

Again, this wasn't behavior that I witnessed at any of the other CL's, just at RPC. :confused3

We didn't notice particularly BLATANT bad behavior in the AKL lounge except guests who were NOT club level guests coming in and helping themselves to as much food and drink as they could carry. And we did report it. We reported it to the lounge CM's, the resort manager, DVC Member Satisfaction, and WDW Guest Relations. We were told they KNOW it is a problem and they are working to address it and get it under control.

Having said that, we were NEVER asked for a room key and neither were any of the other guests. It is my gut impression that if they DID ask for room keys that word would spread pretty quickly and it would stop a lot of the interlopers.

We noticed this our last trip to GF SL. There were a LOT of crashers/friends of friends/etc from the pool almost everytime we were in the lounge. This of course made seating very difficult to obtain.

The CM's were aware but many voiced that they felt helpless. :confused3 Not sure why really.

We've stayed at every WDW Concierge level multiple times, but this really put a damper on the SL Experience.

I suspect if the CMs say anything, the guests will screech and squeal and go complain to a manager. The manager will then override the CM to make the guests shut up.

But in the case of crashers who are essentially STEALING, I can't see a manager saying it's OK. Especially if the registered club level guests are screeching about it. Which is why I screeched A LOT about the people stealing from the AKL lounge. I am not using almost double DVC points for a CL stay so these cretins can sneak in and take whatever they want for free.

We too are recently home from an AKV-CL stay, our second. While it wasn't terrible due to the number of points it "costs" I don't think we'll be booking CL again. jackskellingtonsgirl we may have been there at the same time as you, we checked out 6/11.

While I didn't really notice non-CL guests it was something we wondered about. DH always tried to get an elevator without other guests so we wouldn't have to worry about potentially letting anyone onto the floor that wasn't a CL guest.

My issues were that the CMs were not helpful. They almost never came out from behind their desks and only occasionally looked up as we were returning/leaving to greet us. DH asked one evening if they could get us an ADR at Boma as I have read other CL lounges are successful in getting guests into restaurants in their hotel without a prior ADR. The CM told him it was too close to the timeframe we were looking at and that Boma is least busy between 4-5:30p. I would have thought he could have called downstairs to check for us. :confused3 Later in the trip DH asked a different CM if she would be able to help with our online check-in for our Vero Beach stay. She directed him to computers in the lobby.

One thing I fould surprising was how rigid they were with the serving times. We were coming back two nights right around 10p and they were cleaning up and WOULD NOT let you take a soda from the fridge or a dessert that hadn't been put up yet. Seemed kind of crazy to me.

The food offerings are significantly reduced from our Oct 08 stay. They used to have 3 hot offerings that were subtantial, most of what they had during our stay were puff pastry filled things or little tart-like things. What they had was good and we enjoyed most of it but it couldn't compare to what used to be offered. Also disappointed no zebra domes during dessert. :guilty:

We did get a Zebra Dome cake from in-room dining as a surprise for DD to celebrate her graduation - YUMM!

Well I have an example of that happening and what the Cast Members did later on. In August 2009 while my family and I were in the Atrium Club lounge of the Contemporary these guests staying up there invited at least 20 of their family or friends, which made the lounge very crowded and it got very loud, plus some of those people had little kids running around which made for a dangerious enviornment. Had we not got a table before they arrived you can bet we would have complained, however we didn't say anything to the Cast Members at that time. Well a couple of hours later when we returned they had put two signs in the lounge, one in english and the other in spanish which said the Atrium Club lounge is reserved for guests staying up there and etc. Not once in my previous stays up there did they ever put out those signs. Anyway we then started talking to one of the Cast Members who knew us from our previous stays up there and knows we were regular repeat guests about what happened. Well he appologized and knew of the problem and I asked how come they those people weren't asked to leave? He told me the first time that happend the Cast Members are not allowed to say anything, however he said if they tried that a second time the people not staying up there would be asked to leave.

Irish Dancer, we probably did see you there!

We noticed the crashers early in our stay. Nothing changed during the course of the rest of our nights there. No signs, no room key checks. The worst offenders we saw at the beginning must have simply gone home.

The CMs were pretty helpful when I asked for assistance with things. We had one MAJOR scheduling screw-up that was IPOs fault, and the lounge CMs were very nice to me after that. ;) There is one girl who has been there a long time who has never been terribly helpful, so I tried to avoid her. :rolleyes1
