They are sliding glass doors that open:I know there aren't balconies in CL second floor at POLY, but do the windows open at all or do they open like sliding doors?
I posted this on the AKL thread but didn't get an answer so I'll try here... I think maybe you are the ones that know all about CL anyway
Help! I know you guys on this thread know everything and now that we are down to the last 28 days (but who's counting!), I should get all my stuff together and figure out what I want to do.
With it being so hot, I'm not thinking we will want to do heavy lunches. I'm wondering if I just want to get snacks in the lounge or do meals at QS places. Can you point me to a list or tell me what was there in the lounge the last time you went? We will have DGS21 months with us so I'm also trying to make sure we have something good for him... then again, if they have gummy bears and cheese, he's a happy boy! If they had chocolate covered strawberries for lunch, DD would just eat those and be stuffed!
Thanks for all your help!

During breakfast my Mom likes to eat a Half a Red Grapefruit and it's something none of the lounges offer, so it's something we always request which she has got everytime starting the next morning. What types of requests do you make from the CL CMs besides ADRs? We've already made our ADRs so I'm not sure if there's anything else I could be utilizing them for, that I haven't thought of, at this point. Other than using the lounge I can't really imagine what else I would need their help with. Our trip is in September to BCR CL.
Well, you can verify your room location request with them (if you have any). They can make any recreation, cabana (CR, GF and Poly) or tour reservations for you. If you have any dietary needs, they can try and accommodate them. Any special occasions? They can help you celebrate those. They should email your current itinerary (ADRs, etc...) to you. Of course, you can also print off the ADRs from My Disney Vacation. What types of requests do you make from the CL CMs besides ADRs? The lounge is on the MK side so noise from the lounge won't be an issue on the BL side. If you're concerned about the noise from CM, you can request to be away from it. If you'd like your beds to face toward FTW, Epcot, WL and away from BLT, you should request an odd numbered room. Are there any rooms that are better than others on the 12th floor CR club level? Before I contact, IPO about ADRs, just wondering if I need to make a room request. I'm Std. or Bay lake view 12th floor.
I've got small kids...should I request close to Lounge area or does that get loud at night?

Don't forget there are some rooms over the Contempo Cafe that are also good if you couldn't get one over their stores. Remember how last August I was staying in 4808 and you were staying in 4809, well I am sure you remember our rooms being over the Contempo Cafe and I can honestly say despite being close to Chef Mickey's not once did we hear any noise from there. The lounge is on the MK side so noise from the lounge won't be an issue on the BL side. When you posted on the AKL Thread, I tried to find pictures with descriptions of all the food offerings at the AKL CL. Sorry, I couldn't. I hope the following info helps.
Breakfast:
Oatmeal, pineapple/orange/guava juice, muffins, bagels, other pastries, cereal
Snacks and Afternoon Tea:
Snacks are served at the Kilimanjaro Club throughout the day, including goldfish crackers, gummy bears, fresh fruit, pretzels, nuts, scones, dried fruits, warm cookies, brownies, veggies, cheese and crackers, etc. Loose leaf tea is offered mid-afternoon.
Lunch and Dinner:
African-style items from Boma and Jiko are often served at the Kilimanjaro Club, including ribs, meat skewers, soup, chicken wings, African beers, hummus and pita, etc. For the kids, there's peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Desserts and Evening:
In the evenings, you can indulge in Boma's signature desserts like pineapple cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberries, zebra domes, and blueberry tarts. Cordials, such as Baileys, Drambuie, Frangelico, Grand Marnier, are also available.
There is also a self-service fridge with beer, soda, and milk you can take back to your room.

As usual, a handful of clueless types are here at Sugar Loaf at the GF. Imagine walking barefoot in an area where food is served? And thanks to those who come in from the pool and sit down in the dining area. Ah, those wet seats! Motel 6 might be a better fit for these folks.
All the best.![]()
The beat goes on. Although you can't enter a 7-11 or any other convenience store unless you pass the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" rule, you can at the Grand Floridian's Sugar Loaf club level building. We just got back from "Twilight Refreshers" where we noticed a bare-chested Neanderthal in his wet bathing siut. Now get this: he's looking over the beers and sees a Samuel Adams Summer Ale. And then he quips: "Ugh, Sam Adams Summer Ale; I'm going with an American brand!"
You can't make this stuff up.

We just came back on Saturday from a 15 night stay at AKL CL.
At breakfast they have fresh fruit - pineapple, melon, strawberries in addition to the apples, oranges, and bananas that are available all day. The other items listed above are also available.
From 11 AM - 3 PM there are snacks, but NOT veggies or cheese and crackers. They put those out at 5 PM.
From 3 PM - 4:30 PM there are "tea" items such as scones, cookies, brownies, and rice krispy squares but nothing else.
At 5 PM they do LIGHT appetizers - they no longer have soup or Uncrustables. They do have little turkey & cheese "pinwheels" but they are VERY small - maybe the size of a half dollar. The appetizers were not ribs or chicken wings. SMALL little bite size puff pastry type things with meat filling. The type varied, but there was never anything big like ribs, wings, or meat skewers.
We saw chocolate covered strawberries during dessert service one night, but they were promptly snatched up by a family who loaded them up and carried them off down the back stairs to the 5th floor, where there are NO club level rooms. There were only 12 on the platter to start with. We were not usually at the lounge during dessert hours, but the nights we were there we never saw any zebra domes.
The lounge fridge is stocked with milk, soda, and yogurt pretty much all day. There is also tea, lemonade, and juice in dispensers, and coffee all day. I asked for a bottle of Evian to keep in the room, but I was told all they have are big glass bottles that require a bottle opener. The CM advised purchasing bottled water at Mara or Zawadi. 2 years ago they did give me a big glass bottle, but it had a regular screw top lid on it. The Evian in the lounge is in the big glass bottles so you have to pour it into a cup.
The lounge closes at 10 PM every night, so if you return from the parks after 10 PM there are no drinks or anything.
We did enjoy the lounge, but the food is not as substantial as the food they offered a few years ago (I think our first CL stay was 2008).
