Already planning for May 2011 Polyesian CL stay. What are some suggestions for spending the afternoon/evening on check in day? DD11 & 20 months, me, 41, my parents, 60's.

Thanks!
On the day's my family and I check-in we like to relax and then at 5:00 PM go for the hot food in the lounge.

I've posted my pictures of the Beach Club CL lounge and food offerings over in the CL photo thread here. I'll be happy to answer any questions about what you see in the pictures/ my stay here or over there! :goodvibes

Great pictures Jen! I'm putting a link to your post on page 1, post #10 of this thread! :thumbsup2

We are offically upgraded! Garden view and the CM I spoke with was awesome! I'm so glad I found this thread. And the food in the mornings is freeing up some of our ADR times so we can enjoy more 2ts meals at night....I'm so excited!

Congrats! And I hope you will stop back here after your stay and let us know how wonderful it was!! :goodvibes

So today is my 180 days out for ADR's. It's 9:30am Florida time. How long should I wait, or when should I expect the ADR's listing from GF CL? From their lackluster, unenthusiastic responses so far, should I trust them to get the restaurants I wanted?

Relax, from my experience they do a great job. They may not be overly friendly, but I've found them very professional and helpful. I'm sure they'll be in touch soon with your ADRs.

What should I do with some of our unused dinning credits? Since we upgraded to CL and we are on the DxDDP I cancelled a lot of our breakfast ADR's so we can just go to the lounge in the mornings (most mornings, I still kept chef mickey, cape may, akershus for the kids) so since there are 4 of us on plan that free's up a ton of credits...I went ahead and cancelled a few of the dinners and made them for some of the 2credit dinning options, but at the end of the week I'm still looking at 7-9 credits....and I'm not sure what to do with them :confused3 I have thought about downgrading the plan to the ddp but my husband won't give up yatchmans steakhouse or brown derby and the girls won't give on the CRT so there is no way we could make the DDP work not enough credits.....so the Dx is too many and the DDP is not enough! This has been me trying to figure this all out today :surfweb:

I would probably do the math. Is it cheaper to go down to the ddp and payout out of pocket for a meal or does it pay to potentially lose some credits.

I'm not sure really, I know to drop down to the DDP will save us around $725, almost exactly what it cost us to upgrade to CL in the first place. But I know my DH and he is a big ole steak lover and will order the most expensive, biggest steak he can find on the plan or not!

$725 is a lot of money. I don't know if WDWinfo has menus but if they don't try www.allears.net you can get an idea of what it will cost you for you DH humungous steak :thumbsup2 Even if the meal cost you $200 you are still over $500 ahead of the game. Remember use your credits for the more expensive meals.

I'm going to try and talk him into that, but I know that one thing he really liked was everything being paid for already when we get there. DH even cost us an arm/leg in Vegas eating! And in Vegas you can get food really cheap! We budge around 2K just for food on a 10night stay at the beach, and that is with a full kitchen to have breakfast in.

Holy moly $2000 OMG I wouldn't want to pay your food bill :rotfl: Your honey loves those steaks! Too funny.

Tell me about it! And he is a normal size guy, even slim compaired to most of my friends' dh's. Wears a size 31 pants, but I sware he eats like crazy that is where my 4y/o got it from I think because she is the same way but like I said she is only 29lbs. And it's not just like that on vacations, just imagine if you will, that his love of food is consistant. I can make a nice steak dinner, with vegies, potato and salad....then 1 hour later he is eating hotdogs, and then a little while after that he is eating pb&J, and it's like this every single day!

I think his tastes for good food on vacation is a holdover from his childhood, he never once got to take a family vacation as a child so now he outdoes himself.

Appetites are funny things... I"m 5'3 and 108 lbs, and I've put down two 24 oz steaks in the past week.

I couldn't eat 1 24oz steak ever! I usually opt for the 8 or 10oz. I wish I were you. I've lost 41 pounds and have another 34 to go.

I know, I do go with the 12oz normally my dh tho is 24oz all the way, lol. WTG on the weight loss, that is awesome. I knew I should be trying to lose weight too but then I got the scale out today :scared1: Needless to say the diet started this morning right after that...I did a step class last night and my legs are killing me today!

I should have mentioned that my dh does not sit behind a desk all day, he has an active job where he is a fire boss inside a coal mine, so he walks the couple of miles each shift to check things like gas level and whatnot.

Sounds just keep the DxDDP. If DH gets hungry he can use the points for an extra counter service meal. You(he) might like an occassional CS breakfast.

Thanks, I was thinking that since most of our dinner ADR's are early for the kids that he may want an extra meal some nights to hold him over besides the things offered in the lounge, lol.

I have a WL question. I know that the Deluxe CL room we are staying in is on the 7th floor but looking at the map, pictures and my memory I am trying to figure out just exactly the rooms will be. What view are they facing and is there any preferable room request? I know this sounds like a vague question but I just don't have that much info on the rooms. Also my kids are well behaved (in public, at least) kids that will be 13,10 and 7 on the next trip. Will my 13yo be able to access the CL lounge without us (like to get a snack while I'm getting ready) and maybe take her sister and brother? TIA
