very happy today....I was able to switch my room BACK to AKL CL from poly cl (had to change a few weeks ago) ! They did not have any more AKL CL room with my 40% discount but the cm put me on hold and asked GS to open one with my pin so we could switch back:cool1: We love AKL and we were sad that we were not going to be able to be there at christmas.

Congrats!!! I just love AKL CL!!!:cloud9: How nice of the CM to open up a room for you -- I have had trouble getting those rooms with the discount, too, so I know how hard it is... No nice CM has ever offered to help me out like that, though...:sad2: I'm glad that someone did it for you -- AKL is such a wonderful place to stay!!!:banana::banana:

Great to hear that pixie dust is still being sprinkled! We're trying to sprinkle some right now for DD15s friend. She's never been to WDW and we're trying to swing taking her with us for our Memorial Day trip. Only drawback is her brother's high school graduation falls during our reservation time.

THanks Jen!!! Was your room near elevators? I want to request away from elevators but don't want to jinx anything in case I get a magical upgrade to water view!!!!

Sure! :thumbsup2 The elevators at the BC that go up to the CL floor are right near the CL lounge (I'm pretty sure there are no other elevators that go up to the 5th floor - we never saw any others, so if there are other elevators, they weren't near our room), and we were pretty far from the elevators and the lounge. The lounge and elevators are in the part of the BC closest to Epcot, and our room was right over the center of SAB, so pretty close to the other end of the resort (closest to the YC).

We are staying CL Sugarloaf at the GF in May for 10 days. On our departure day our flight doesn't leave until 7:00 PM so DME will probably pick us up around 4:00 PM. I'm looking into the possibilities of a late check-out but either way our check-out would most likely be before 4:00 PM.

We will probably go to a park in the morning but would like a place to sit and relax after we get back to the GF while we are waiting for our DME pick up time. Will we still be able to get into the CL to hang out for a bit or will we not be able to access it since we will have be checked out of our room at that time?

You have access to the club level lounges until midnight of your check-out day. Even if you don't get a late check-out, you are welcome to take advantage of the amenities until midnight. :thumbsup2

yeh well it has been a hard few months...we had AKL CL at first and my parents were going so one of the kids was in their room but my dad had a 2nd heart attack! and then my moms job closed:scared1: so they did not think they could go...well they approved her unemployment! She can get her ss next year so she is good and my dad is doing 100% better (thank god) so they will go so I called and explained what was going on...it will be my dd4 5th b day and that is also her fav resort so the guy really tried hard to get it changed...I was so excited I forgot to get his name...I wish I would have because I would like to tell someone how great he was! Do you think his name will be on my changed resi?
I hear lots of complaints about wdw BUT I still see them going out of their way to do things for people.:wizard:

We did the online check out, and just had the bell services hold our stuff. Then we visited the parks and hung out in the lounge until our DME (3:30pm).

Forgive me if this posts twice because I just posted but I think my computer ate my question

Anyway, do you know if this still applies if you are checking in to another resort on check out day? I am possibly interested in doing one last Wishes from the Poly lounge on check out day, but we will have moved over and check into to YC-CL already by that time.

TIA.

Yes - you will still have access to the Poly CL lounge until midnight, even if you have moved over to YC. Have fun!

Sorry for this question but I have never been to WDW before and I'm not sure how this works.

We are booked for BC in Aug. Do I have to ask the CM for club level? I started this trip planning process with POR booked, then switched to BC because I like the nicer hotels and places that offer more perks. When I called in to change I never was told about "club level" should I call and ask about it, I'm guessing it's more $$ but on adverage how much extra per night?

You have to book and pay for a room category that offer club level service.

It looks like you are going in August which is value season. Rack rate not including tax for rooms at the Beach Club during value season are:

Standard View $340 per night
Water or Pool View per night: $420
Garden View Stone Harbor Club per night: $470
Deluxe Room Stone Harbor Club per night: $540
Lagoon View Stone Harbor Club per night: $555

There are additional room categories as well that I haven't listed.

Already planning for May 2011 Polyesian CL stay. What are some suggestions for spending the afternoon/evening on check in day? DD11 & 20 months, me, 41, my parents, 60's.

Thanks!

Sto6917,

Check-in day is a great time to get your bearings and explore your resort, especially if you're trying to avoid using a park day ticket's use.

It allows everyone to refresh themselves and recuperate from the travel day at their own pace without feeling they're holding the others back from park fun. You'll be very close to the pool in case any of your group wants to unwind that way too.

It's a gorgeous resort to spend the evening strolling behind the Hawaii (Club Level) building along the lake and watching Wishes and ELP either from the grounds or the Club Lounge.

If everyone feels up to it and you still prefer not to use park ticketing that day, you can always venture further afield and visit one or both of the other two monorail resorts. It's super easy to jump on the monorail and walk into the Grand Floridian and Contemporary.

Wow, I truly did not mean to set off a firestorm.

Let me clarify what I meant when I said we had people up to CL with us. My brother and his family would join us to watch the fireworks one night per trip. It was cleared with the concierge staff before each time. They always said it was no problem. That is what I was trying to convey to the poster. In no way did I mean to imply that we had family with us constantly or that I condoned that. Once again I'm sorry for any confusion.

Sorry you felt it was you!! I'm out of town, or I would have come back earlier to clarify it's me who's getting the riot act. I honestly just came to confirm what I've been told from CRO and IPO. Other DIS CL guests obviously disapprove, but as I have come to rely on the DIS for the most up-to-date info over the last three years of WDW planning I wanted to see what they had to say. I get it. Believe me. :rotfl: We have eight months until our trip, so we'll just cross our fingers and hope another CL room opens up. We've also discussed getting a room for my grandparents and mom at SoG, so they may not even be over at the Poly at all (or able to be where they "don't belong," as a PP pointed out). Again, we'll just have to see what happens.

I've posted my pictures of the Beach Club CL lounge and food offerings over in the CL photo thread here. I'll be happy to answer any questions about what you see in the pictures/ my stay here or over there! :goodvibes

Thanks for the info, it looks like the difference is just over 100/night and I used a 40% code so I'm thinking (if my math is right) that it would only be around 700 extra to upgrade to club level. I would go back and read all about club level, and other than seeing the photos of the lounge in BC (which looks awesome) what are the other perks? Is it really woth the 700 extra...I know that each person has their own criteria for determining the worth so maybe just tell me why it's worth it to you.

OH MY GOODNESS!! My husband is sold already by looking at your pics, I'm on hold to speak with them about the upgrade now! So is all the food and alcohol and everything included just by the upgrade to club level? IF so that is sooo awesome!

 Happy to help!! Yes, all of the food and alcohol is inlcuded when staying club level. The food and alcohol definitely won over my brother, too!

We are offically upgraded! Garden view and the CM I spoke with was awesome! I'm so glad I found this thread. And the food in the mornings is freeing up some of our ADR times so we can enjoy more 2ts meals at night....I'm so excited!
