Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

We stayed in Sugar Loaf this Xmas. We were met at the Magical Express bus by a CM from the concierge staff. He walked us through the lobby to Sugar Loaf and then took us up to our room. I checked in right in the room. He had our keys and the folder with all our documents (including our ADRs) ready to go. He just swiped my credit card and we were done.

Awesome! Thank you! :cool1:

Question: How does the check-in process work when you are staying club level?

I read in another thread that there is no need to do online check-in if you are staying club level and don't quite understand why not. I'm sure you would still need to set up charging privileges on your KTTW card, etc. Can some one help me understand what we should expect on arrival day and at check-in? We are staying GF Sugarloaf if it makes any difference.

It's just so quick and done in the comfort of the lounge usually, so you can have a seat and relax. No standing in line at the front desk, then standing while they check you in. Plus, they are expecting you so you should pretty much be all set up to go. Usually they give you a folder with park maps, resort maps, info, etc. in it -- very nice. Plus you can grab a drink and a snack during this process if you're exhausted from flying in...

I don't know how you are arriving (limo, DME, your own car) but they try to get your info at the guard station. When you get out of the car at the front entrance, there's a little podium for CL guests. Hopefully someone will be down there to meet you. If not they will send someone, who will escort you to the concierge desk in the Sugar Loaf building. You bypass standing in line in the lobby.;)

I am sure this is asked quite often but here I go again. From my understanding deluxe room are rarely offered a discount...that's fine. What I was wondering is if a public offer comes out like free dining can you get that discount if you are staying deluxe?

For our trip this past November, I wasn't even able to get a AAA discount for our AKL CL room. But when they added the free dining, I called right away and was able to add that. It was nice as it enabled us to eat at places we probably wouldn't have gone without it being included.

Thanks to you and all that replied. Last year we were able to add free dining. I had already booked dining and was willing to pay for it but it was so nice to see the over 1000 taken off my trip. A lot of good it did though we spent that in souvies and drinks.

Can anyone tell me whether the club level lounge is on the same floor as the club level rooms at AKL. If it is on a different floor, is this inconvenient?

Assuming you are talking about the AKL CL rooms, not the DVC ones...

All of the AKL CL rooms are on the 4th floor facing the Arusha Savanna. The CL lounge is on the 6th floor directly above the entrance to the hotel.

It's not as convenient as some CL areas, but this way you are guaranteed a great view. If you want to be closer to the lounge, you can ask for a room closer to the elevators and the lobby.;)

Unless your arriving after 10:00 PM since that's the time when the Club Level Cast Members go home, I personally don't see the reason to do online check-in when staying Club Level because you can check-in very fast on your specific floor or building.

Thanks!! I know my 11 year old will want to go to the CL lounge on his own, and I was hoping it was on the same floor. Still, I think I will try to book CL. It sounds wonderful.

I booked WL CL 8/6/10- 8/10/10 and BC CL 8/10/10- 8/14/10 and have not been contacted by anyone one yet. When do they normally contact you? TIA

That's a good question and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any consistency. You should email them immediately (put Res # and dates as subject of email), introduce yourself and let them know what you'd like them to do for you. The email addresses are on page 1 of this thread. (phone #'s are too in case you decide to call them.)

You should receive an auto-reply email from each IPO within minutes; and an actual contact from them within 24 hours. :goodvibes

Woo Hoo! Just booked BC GVCL for a week beginning July 22nd. Second CL stay. We did the Poly GVCL last summer. Stayed at BC in a standard room over marathon weekend and decided to give it a try in warmer times.

One question for the veterans. Where exactly is the lounge located. Is it in the middle, end toward YC or the end toward EPCOT? Just trying to get my bearings. You know how us planners are!

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's located right off the elevators (closer to Epcot than to the YC). BC is great in the summer!

Thanks mmmears. Us planners just have to have an idea in our head as we start to dream.

Just a quick question about check-in:
Do we all have to be present at check-in?
Last year when we arrived, I checked us all in while my husband & 2 grandchildren waited near me with all our carry-ons, etc. It never even dawned on me that maybe he could have taken the kids and gotten a quick bite to eat or something. Is that allowed?

Thanks,

Gretchen

You don't all need to be there -- just whoever is paying for it!:rotfl: When we check in CL, though, it's usually in the lounge. DD wanders off towards the snacks and drinks right away, while we finish up with checking in. Makes for a very pleasant beginning, since we're usually starving after traveling all day and DD can't wait any longer.;)

Ok...I've got a question. Two days ago I finally got around to emailing GF IPO to introduce myself. I told them how excited I was to stay at GF and asked them what I needed to do next. They sent back an email that was, well, impersonal. It had the Planning paperwork attached. That was fine.

So I sent back the planning paperwork last night with a note saying thanks for taking care of the ADR's and tour reservations. So far I've only received the generic "we'll get back to you" email. It's been over 24 hours.

Here's my question, my 180 days is in 13 days. Should I just trust that they've read it or should I email them again to make sure? I don't want to seem pushy or high maintainance, but I do want to make sure my ADR's will be made so I can get on with my life. :)

Thanks!

I know how you feel about the impersonal reply. BC/YC/BWI IPO and AKL IPO are so much friendlier in my experience(s)!! Just keep plugging away. They'll get the job done. But it would be more "magical" if they did it with a bit more pep ;)

I found the same thing. We're staying RPC for our wedding trip so naturally I am super excited. :goodvibes I sent them a very nice email and basically got a response that they don't contact you until 200 days before your reservation and to try back then if I didn't hear from them. 200 days came and went... I waited it out as long as I could stand and sent them another email and got another impersonal email and the form. I filled out the form, and they did send me an email back, but it could have been because they needed a cc? When I called to give the cc #, the CM was very friendly and nice. We ended up getting every ADR we wanted, and most were for large groups and an Illuminations cruise, so I wouldn't worry too much. It did take a day or so after the ADR day for them to send me confirmation.

Lol, so true! They did do everything they were supposed to and it was great to not have to make the ADR's myself.... but I had hoped they would be more magical about it... although I guess getting everything I wanted was pretty magical too. ;)
