so its not that much more per day... but still it would cost about an extra $600 for our trip. and we still would have the same view?? i don't know.

Has the YC updated their CL as the BC did last year? Also, do they have a coffee machine or coffee urn as they used to?

In my opinion, if you are having doubts or are uncertain then I would recommend that you don't do it. If the benefits don't really sound like benefits to you then it probably isn't worth the money that it costs. If you don't want the perks of others making your reservations and the convenience of the food/drinks then CL probably isn't for you. No sense in regretting the additional cost if you aren't thrilled about the benefits. :)

:thumbsup2 I agree with this -- IMO it's good advice! Why would you spend more $$$ for a few benefits that you don't value?:confused3

I think a sizable percent of people who stay CL (like me) do it because it's a free upgrade. So, free = worth it!

we are booked at the poly,in just a garden view room. so it does seem that the club level is about the food...no? i wonder how much the upgrade would be.. i guess just for the building more than anything i guess...

Club Level really isn't about the food. The DxDP is about the food!! :rotfl:

GV at Poly is great. We've done GV, GV CL and LV CL. I wouldn't book GV CL again. We stay GV and if I want to splurge, would do LV CL or TPV CL. CLub Level is NOT as uniquely special as it once was. It is becoming more generic across the board. DO NOT book it b/c you think it's necessary for a great trip from reading these boards. It's NOT. I feel like any room at the Polynesian is paradise, at least the ones I've been assigned to!
We stayed Poly GV for Spring Break last year, stocked up on goodies from the Whole Foods off I-4 (we had our own car) and took advantage of Poly's great dining options. We had several meals at Kona Cafe, sushi from the Kona Is. Sushi Bar and very good coffee and pastries from Kona Is. Coffee Bar (same spot, different hours ;) ) plus quick bites at Capt. Cook's. Once again we had out "best trip ever"! :wizard:
Due to the exhorbitant rates, I feel that WDW CL is mostly overrated, unless: reserved at a really good rate, if you are new to WDW and have no idea how to make ADRs or other planning and just want to turn things over to IPO, or when money is no object. IMO.
(And, yet, I still often book it!)

My kids are not big breakfast eaters either.. my little one will eat a waffle, but my older one wouldn't eat a thing if I didn't force a yogurt, poptart or breakfast shake down his throat! :lmao: He's just like me.. there are plenty of days were a yogurt and coffee is my breakfast.. and my Dh's doesn't eat it at all! :scared1: now, we usually do eat breakfast when we are at the world.. but again, its small and we usually share a meal at a CS place.. I can't seem to find closing times for Nov, but if I remember correctly its like 8 or 9 (without LMH).. and for my kids.. that's just fine.. I am thinking a CL breakfast.. ADR's for lunch.. and whatever for dinner would suit us just fine this time.. we really don't like to waste too much time eating and I think the lunch TS meals would move a little faster plus it will give us a much needed sit down break for the boys..

okay.. I was just talking(typing) out loud there.. :lmao: but thanks for reading!

That's us too. I do like oatmeal or maybe a bagel in the morning, but we often eat an early lunch and a late dinner at WDW. Having the lounge for breakfast (such as it is) will be just fine with us, and the appetizers before we head out to dinner will work for us too.

CL was a good fit for me, and I think it will be a good fit for the boys too. :)

You sound like us, so maybe you could try CL to see if you like it? :)

well.. looks like no CL for us this time.. but thats okay, we'll still be at the poly! :thumbsup2
My TA got back to me and the only room they have available in CL is the theme park lagoon view which is the most expensive room there (besides the suites). With the pin code it came to $5,256.68. :scared1: We are paying around $3500 for GV.. 8 days. Don't think its that worth it! :lmao: I'll make DH go get us breakfast every morning and save the $1700!

lets just hope we get upgraded once we get there!! pixiedust:

Makes sense. I love staying CL, but I wouldn't pay an extra $1700 to do so. You can get a lot of room service and book quite a few extras (like tours, cruises, etc.) with that much money. Seems way too high to me!

I haven't been on the boards for quite a while. I've been trying to do some catching up here:)
We are making a last minute trip in a few weeks and I'm trying to make decisions. We love the Polynesian. It was the only resort we would stay at every trip and then we started to venture out and well, it's been 5 1/2 yrs since we've stayed there:eek: We all want to get back, but I'm not sure what to do since they have changed the categories? There are no GVC rooms available just LVC & Theme Park CL (along with GV). I just don't know if it's worth it trying to figure out what level to stay at? The thing I didn't like about the LVR was I was afraid I would get a 2nd floor room and now because of this new category my chances are higher for getting a 2nd floor room with either category!
I'm really excited to see all of the new changes at the Polynesian. We've always had great CL stays, but now I'm not sure if I should just to a GV room? What have you all done with your CL reservation? Has this new category changed how you book your room at the Polynesian?

I love the BWI you pay for standard and you can end up with an awesome view of the BW, like we did Dec 09. We're planning on staying there the second half of our trip, so that will be easy.

I'm sure we'll end up in a CL room, but geez a Theme Park CL room is $$$ over a GV room. I just love having the extra space and that view:cloud9:

It's nice to get back into the Disney planning, albiet I don't have much time!

We stayed in a LV CL room at Poly last August for the first time in 3 years. We had an awesome view and great stay. They have since added the TPV category. My reaction was to book BWI CL (a first for me) instead for my next stay. Sorry that probably didn't help you too much. We did stay GV CL at Poly a few years and it really was OK. I book LV in August because we had planned to spend more time at the resort and it really was wonderful watching Wishes & EWP from the room.

I probably wont be much help, either, but I'll tell you what I did. I booked a LVCL room with a AAA discount a long time ago (before they changed the categories). When they added TPV I thought hard about it and decided to just leave it LVCL -- still a great lagoon view, less $$$...

Well, when the AP discount came out, I called to change my reservation. Only TPVCL and GVCL were available! After our amazing view last year, we just couldn't go down to GV this trip, so I bit the bullet and booked TPV (but only because even with this "upgrade" I was still saving over $200 a night over my LVCL room). I would have booked LVCL if it was available, however.

I can't remember reading a single report on the CL thread or the Poly thread from someone who has recently stayed in Hawaii with comments on their view. I was hoping we'd get some feedback by now.

If it helps, Tikiman's site shows exactly which rooms are LV and which are TPV. I think your chances of getting a room on the 2nd floor are greater if you stay LVCL than if you stay TPVCL, but that won't be much help if you book TPV and still end up on the 2nd floor...:confused3

Hi mirlow. Good to see you back :surfweb:

My first stay at Poly was GV in Tahiti. Loved it. Next couple of stays were GV also and then I booked GV CL once and liked it a lot b/c we loved the lounge and its views and just being in Hawaii. Next trip GV and then Summer 2008 I splurged on LV CL (at rack rate :headache:) and I honestly was blown away by the views. We liked the lounge too, of course. Spring Break last year I booked GV and we were in Niue and I absolutely loved it :cloud9: I stocked the fridge and little bar/counter area w/ treats and we had an awesome week of fun and felt we were in paradise.

If price is no object, book TPV CL.
If you're trying to keep things reasonable (you're going during Peak Season ) I say go for the GV and never look back. You'll be at the Poly and, as you know, everything is gorgeous there! Just shop for or order your favorite snacks to have in the room, make your ADRs on-line and let it rip!!

I am sure this is asked quite often but here I go again. From my understanding deluxe room are rarely offered a discount...that's fine. What I was wondering is if a public offer comes out like free dining can you get that discount if you are staying deluxe?

Hello!
Actually you can get a discount on deluxe rooms. I received a 40% pin code for a deluxe and right now there are 35%-40% discounts for select days listed on the disney website
http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....mo&promotionCode=fy10q3room&market=fy10q3room

and yes. you can add free dining if it comes out as long as its still available for your time of travel :thumbsup2
good luck, there are a ton of resources on here to save you money! ask away!!

Actually, as the pp said, this isn't really true. Whenever there's a discount on value rooms there is usually a discount on the deluxes as well. ;)

I just wanted to add that with many deluxe room rates, free dining is not that big of a discount compared to something like a 40% off rate. Free dining, IMO, is a much better discount at the values and mods than at the deluxes.

You should check on the discounts and compare -- I'm saving much more than the price of the DDP per night with my room discount. ;) Of course, it really depends on the price of the room and the number of people you have, etc...

Hope this helps!

Question: How does the check-in process work when you are staying club level?

I read in another thread that there is no need to do online check-in if you are staying club level and don't quite understand why not. I'm sure you would still need to set up charging privileges on your KTTW card, etc. Can some one help me understand what we should expect on arrival day and at check-in? We are staying GF Sugarloaf if it makes any difference.

I'm not sure about Sugar Loaf specifics, but for club level you do need to check in, you just don't need to do it at the regular check-in counter.

When you get to the resort let the bell staff know that you are club level and they will call someone to come and get you. They take you to the CL floor where the CL staff check you in. Sometimes they take you to the room first so you can settle a bit and then go see them to complete the check in.

We stayed in Sugar Loaf this Xmas. We were met at the Magical Express bus by a CM from the concierge staff. He walked us through the lobby to Sugar Loaf and then took us up to our room. I checked in right in the room. He had our keys and the folder with all our documents (including our ADRs) ready to go. He just swiped my credit card and we were done.
