Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

I have a question for you guys... our first CL stay ever (at the Poly!) starts 4 weeks from tomorrow. :santa: We have a garden view room booked. I did request a 3rd floor room. The request was noted on our confirmation email so I am confident that it is on our ressie.

Should I still email IPO a week or so before our arrival to reiterate our request, or would that be redundant? I don't want to be annoying, and I know requests aren't guaranteed, but we would really love a balcony. (and I have an aversion to being on the ground floor, so really only the 3rd floor will work) Any advice or opinions? Thank you. :goodvibes

Anyone heard more about the food reductions on the concierge level? I saw something about it on the new WL thread and was wondering if it is happening all over?

TIA!

Brian

I have some pics of the AKL CL on my TR. We really only went for breakfast and one evening. I thought there was enough to eat, even if there wasn't a huge selection. And they were willing to put out more if you asked. We even got two bottles of water in paper shopping bags when we asked for water for the room (of course, we needed to use the balcony chairs for the bottle opener...).

I believe that the cost cutting is resort wide.

:rolleyes1 While the price increases are, too... :rolleyes1

I'm already staying at the YC and dealing with the wonderful IPO (I've known some of them for a few years now), have also just booked a couple of nights at the Poly (first time) before I head on over to the YC, so emailed the Poly IPO to request info on their resort/club level, got a very non descript email back saying I wasn't on their system and, not to put too finer point on it, it was very blunt and totally not what I expected and the opposite of the YC IPO.

I emailed back to explain because I've booked through Disney UK the reference numbers are different and they will need to pull my details up by my dates and surname.

That was 2 days ago and I haven't heard back.

I'm very disappointed by their original response and not having heard anything following on from my 2nd email is even more disappointing.

I'm thinking maybe I just caught the IPO on a bad day (i.e. did they get out of bed the wrong side ;) :rotfl:) or maybe they're always this unhelpful :confused3

We stayed last spring at the Poly CL and had wonderful CMs in the building, plus great people whenever I called the IPO office. It's really hit or miss, I think. I called this weekend and spoke with someone who was ... shall we say ... not very knowledgeable. If at first you don't succeed, try again. Hopefully the next person I speak with will be better. Sad, but true...

If it really, really matters to you, then one extra email shouldn't hurt! I say go ahead and send it to them.;)

This thread is full of great information:thumbsup2 I've made my way through every page, and still can't decide where to stay:confused3 it's a toss up between a "deluxe room" at the BWI and Poly TPV. The TPV isn't my 1st choice but that's all that's available with my code.

The deluxe BWI rooms are amazing---wonderful views, a huge rooms. The entire Boardwalk Inn and area are outstanding (and I am a huge Poly fan).

Both choices are great..in fact, one of my best stays was a split between BWI deluxe room and Poly Club Level castle view. BUT--my choice would be the deluxe room at Boardwalk.

It looks like the Poly's lounge is huge! Does the BWI keep the soda in a refrigerator? From the pics on AllEars it looks like everything is just set on the counter?
I've never done a split-stay, Sounds like it might be a good option for us, is it pretty easy?

I booked CL at BWI yesterday and have a few questions. I haven't read anything really on CL because I didn't think I'd ever be staying CL, but decided to give it a try. I picked BWI because of location, natch.

How much of a walk is it to EPCOT or to DHS from BWI?

Is the Innkeepers Club open 24 hours?

Where are the standard CL rooms located? I looked at the resort map but it wasn't much of a help.

Are there King bed rooms you can request for the standard CL rooms?

Is the Safari that you can book extra worth the cost?

Do I need to email IPO to book the safari? Will they send me the info on meeting location and start time?

Can you really see Illuminations from the balcony in the lounge?

That's all for now and thanks for all of your help!

Karen :flower3:

It's about a 5 minute walk to EPCOT, 12-15 to DHS.

I have very much enjoyed the Discovery Wildlife Excursion, have done it 3 times. Yes, the IPO needs to book for you. When they send the confirmation, it tells you what time and where to meet. (and there are 2 safaris a day, I think Tuesday through Saturday)

You can see the fireworks from Illuminations from the balcony in the lounge...can't see the lower level stuff, but you do get all the fireworks! I could also see the fireworks from my standard club level room.

I think the lounge is only open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Thanks for the info! So will the lounge be open for the NYE Illuminations fireworks or will it be closed? Do they lock the lounge up at night?

First of all let my congradulate you on picking a wonderful CL resort.:cool1: We love staying @ the BWI so much that DH and I visit 3x a year. I then go for a girls weekend in Oct. This past girls trip we met wonderful DIS people like Jackemail, Blissventure, and KerryCM. As Jackemail stated it is about a 5 minute walk to Epcot. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Studios. The boat option is also available. The Innkeepers Lounge is not open 24hrs. It opens at 6:30 with breakfast served at 7 am. The lounge closes at 10 pm. You will be able to see Illuminations from the Balcony but not the low ones. There are some king size beds available standard CL as we almost try and request one. You can also see the entertainers at night from your balcony if you are lucky enough to have a boardwalk view. We love the CM who work up in the Innkeepers lounge. We have become very good friends with all of them over the years. The BWI is our home away from home and we would not want to stay anywhere else. We look forward to our next trip in a few short weeks.:cool1:

Quick question: I have booked the Hoop Dee Doo on my own the two times we went...I called first day ADR openned up at 7:00 and got a great table both times...We are planning on going next trip....Should I book it myself so I know that I am calling at 7:00 AM for a chance at a great table or should I allow them to do it for me...Giving up control and putting our faith in someone else's hands scares me.

Thanks nascargirl!

I emailed IPO and received a reply within 20 minutes (which from reading on here I think is very fast) The nice fellow I spoke with on the phone, Omar, is checking to see if the lounge might be staying open later on NYE for those wanting to see fireworks. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we can!

I'm also checking to see if a Deluxe room opens up in the meantime. Short of that it looks like DH and I might have to venture out on NYE if I want to see fireworks, which I really don't want to do. :scared:

I'm looking forward to staying CL and trying it out, and so far am impressed with how fast they get back to you with information. :thumbsup2

kaffinito-I spoke with my friend who is a long time CM from the Innkeeprs Inn. She reported back to me that the lounge will not be open late. It will close at there normal time of pm.

That's the one thing I didn't like about the lounges at the YC and the BC (and I hear about the BW) -- they close their doors for the night. I can understand not serving food and drinks at night, but sometimes it's really nice to have a quiet place to sit.:confused3

Amen, Sistah! Sometimes you just need a little time & space where it's fairly quiet & peaceful - some place where you won't disturb the rest of the family in the room... And sometimes that might be in the wee hours of the morning - or late at night.

Yeah I heard that too. I'm bummed - it was my main reason for booking CL. Now I have to hope for a Deluxe room with an EPCOT view. :sad1:

Oh well, I'm sure we'll enjoy CL anyways! :goodvibes

Hi everyone!

I am at the Poly CL now and if you click on my Nov thread in my signature I have links to pictures of the room, lounge and food offerings in the lounge! We are here until Tues so if you have any questions ask away!

We are at the Poly CL right now and noticed they are recycling the food alot, the same thing every day, morning, noon and late night with different foods from 5-7. The bananas are turning very brown, the pastries are not that fresh. Not much to choose from either...last year we stayed AKL CL and they had a lot more to choose from all day long.

One CM is here and she remembered us from the AKL CL and she said that all the liquor in the lounges are the same throughout all the CL in all the deluxe resorts....she said they were trying to do the same breakfast, snacks and desserts too.
