Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

We've had an ongoing discussion about this new room cat on the Polynesian thread. I'll look forward to hearing whatever information you are able to discover!

I just emailed her - I'll update this thread and the Poly thread when I know more. I would guess that these are either the same rooms categorized as TPV rooms, but you can pay extra to have the CL access, or they are rooms already existing in Hawaii. Again, I wouldn't want to travel from one longhouse to another to go to the lounge - for my extra cash, I'd just pick up a few bottles of wine and some cheese for the fridge. I'm also a bit worried about overcrowding in the lounge, but maybe it will be a failed experiment on WDWs part.

I looked at Tikiman's site and found this:
There is no Theme Park view catagory so you cannot guarantee a lagoon view room that is completely unobstructed although very few have anything blocking the views. (This will change in 2010 when they add Theme Park view room category).

So maybe they are all rooms in Hawaii.

Just thought I would throw this out there about the Poly IPO...we are to arrive there next week and they called me to see what time we would be arriving so they can have a room ready for us (I told her we are driving up the night before and will go to breakfast at Kona at 9am and see them shortly thereafter) and if there was anything we needed in our room that they can arrange or any other dining reservations that we needed...they are A+ in my book!

AKL CL Pool letter

I did not remember seeing this here but we did receive a letter from AKL saying that the pool at Jambo will be closed in January and that you would have to go to Kidani for swimming.

That is the information I just received. . .the new TPV rooms are in Hawaii and are the best of those formerly classified as LV--no specific room numbers yet.

So what you paid yesterday for a LV now costs an additional $45 (+ tax) p/n today to guarantee a TPV--nuts, absolutely nuts. Honestly, the only rooms an LV side that might have a major obstruction are the east end rooms. . .just trying to eek out the last dime from folks I guess. :headache:

Oh brother...what will they do next??? :headache: Next thing you know they will re-classify CLGV, unobstructed view of the gardens will be $60 more per night as opposed to the rooms with the big tree blocking your view

They seriously should just relocate the trees and make all the rooms TPV.

Gretchen,

It will be interesting to see what the IPO tells you. This category is so new the the WDTC people did not know and had to check. Also, the info online is incomplete at best. Please post what the IPO finds out for you. It would help the rest of us decide what to do. I currently have GV CL booked for Nov. 2010, but if they are going to open the lounge to lots of rooms from other buildings, I will probably rethink my resort choice. Decreased lounge offerings + increased cost + increased people (possible crowding) does not sound appealing to me. Hopefully, the answers will be logical, but like you, I wouldn't be happy booking LV expecting a castle view and not get it. There really ought to be more information available. I don't remember seeing this booking category when I first started researching the resort right after the 2010 rates came out. I wonder when they were added. Anyway, thanks for posting more info when you get it from IPO!

Here's the msg I rec'd back from the Poly IPO this morning:

Aloha,

We do have a new category of club level rooms at the Polynesian. They are Lagoon View rooms with guaranteed views of Cinderella's Castle. I am not sure what a TVP WITH CLUB LEVEL ACCESS is. If you have any further questions about what you have booked and what is offered you will want to contact 407-W-Disney.

And here's the msg I rec'd from the TA who originally booked our rooms:

Hi Gretchen. Ok, after speaking to my manager, (which she didn't even hearabout this herself until this morning), it seems like all rooms in thelagoon view offer a lagoon view and a view of the castle. There may be afew rooms that have a palm tree hanging near their balcony for a patrialobstruction of the castle, so they are just adding another category withno partial obstruction at all, just another way to make more money. Ireally think you are fine. We have stayed there 3 times (LVCL) and haddifferent rooms at each end of the Hawaii building and could always seethe castle with no problem.

I think our TA offered a much better response than IPO! And we haven't even dealt with her since the IPO took over....

Gretchen

Yes, your TA gave you an honest opinion. As I said, (or maybe I said it on the Polynesian thread) the Hawaii LV rooms all have great views with the possible exception of the last rooms on the east end and the view from there isn't bad--I've stayed on the first floor in that very room.

I wouldn't buy into paying more money for the view than the high price already being exacted. :scared1:

Steve Tiki did send out an e-mail that he will be updating his page tonight or tomorrow about the new room categories and other changes at the Poly.

I will be interested in seeing what he has to say or what he has heard? :confused3

I agree, Tess!

Tikiman has now posted his opinion on the matter, Breezysmom - he doesn't seem any happier about it than we do!

Gretchen:sad:

I got an email back from my TA - she said that 90% of the people who called asked for a castle view if they had a lagoon view. So they added the new category to guarantee it. And make more money. :) So pretty much what everyone else said!

I haven't read every post, but I have checked out several pages...so sorry if this is a repeat question. We have never stayed on the club level before.
I'm wondering what kind of things are available during the "snack" time in the middle of the day. Basically wondering if it's enough to call a light lunch, and if it is things my kids will eat! We wouldn't do it every day, but often we are headed back to the resort at lunch time and it would save us a counter service. I don't know if we need both the club level and the dining plan. I don't expect the evening offerings to be dinner, but I just wasn't sure what was available in the middle of the day.
Thanks!

The items they serve don't really add up to what you would want to eat for lunch. At the Contemporary they usually put out items like Cookies, Rice Krispy Squares, Cup Cakes and etc.

Just got back from the BWI club level and during "snack" time they served popcorn, potato chips, pretzels, fruit, cookies, gummie bears & beverages ...

We had the 2nd to last room on the 3rd floor and it had an amazing view of the castle, lagoon, and fireworks. I'm sure that both rooms next door to us did, too.

So, if I have a LVCL room booked for April 2010, do I need to change my reservation if we want to be able have that kind of view?:confused3

I, personally, would not play into Disney's efforts to raise more capital to secure a view for which you have already paid dearly. :headache: As most people will tell you, the rooms on the LV side of Hawaii are pretty spectacular and I can't think of a one that is totally obstructed. That's just my opinion and you may feel differently.

I wouldn't change it either if I were you, mmmears, unless you won't be happy if you ended up with a palm frond in your view. I agree with everyone.... the lagoon rooms in Hawaii have lovely views. I wouldn't pay for TPV.

But there are guests who complain about having any foliage in their view. I've read their complaints on here. They often seem to be those who've gotten a free upgrade ironically enough.:rotfl: Perhaps this new category is to satisfy the pickiest of guests.

We'll have to see how it plays out. But I would feel very comfortable booking lagoon view in Hawaii.

Thank you for posting this. We are staying LVCL this April and I was concerned. I looked on Tikiman site and could see any pictures of what I would consider obstructed view.. Maybe some earlier pictures but I have read they have removed those big ones a couple years ago.

I agree with everyone else. We finally booked LVCL for July and I am not going to play into Disney's money hungry game. :confused3

While we were there last week we walked around exploring and really took note of rooms with any type of blockage and there were really not a lot so I am going to hope for the best. :goodvibes

That is great customer service. We are getting really excited to go and received our ME tags last week. I can't wait to get our other packet of information. Seems like the days are going really fast now.

Hopefully we made a good decision: We decided to cancel our Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise because we were worried that the kids might be difficult at that time of night. We thought that it made more sense to upgrade our room category to Lagoon View. It sounds like that was a good idea now...since they are adding another room category to that side of the Hawaii building. I hope that we are able to see fireworks and the water parade from our room. It would make a great end of every day.
