Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

Has anyone out there ever checked in to a club level room at the Poly after the concierge desk in the Hawaii building has closed? How does it work?

I'd read that you went into the main lobby and told them you were staying club level, and that a valet with a golf cart took you over to the Hawaii building to check in. But that desk will be closed when we arrive. Do we just check in at the regular check-in desk? Is there some kind of a shorter line still? Do we still get a ride or escort of some kind over to the building? Or do we just end up fending for ourselves? :confused3 Anyone know?

I check in after concierge desk hours all the time. You'll check in at the front desk. There is no special concierge line at the main lobby desk - at least not since I've been there. They will arrange for bell services to escort you to your room. If they don't offer and you want it then just ask. Honestly, I walked over but I only had my carry on.

I finally received my e-mail! :cheer2:

They managed to get all my ADR requests except for one. For some reason they didn't book the Big River Grill. When I went to look it up online it doesn't have the option to reserve so there must be something odd with that. It gives me something to figure out while I continue to count down my days!

I was just going to pick up the phone to call IPO when the e-mail arrived. :)

Thanks for giving me a place to check in over the last few days!

The IPO (Yacht Club) made our reservation for Big River Grille right along with the others. :confused3 You might want to just email them and ask.

AKL IPO didn't make ours for our trip back in June. They noted on our itinerary that it was walk up so therefore no reservation was made. Hmmm

Which resorts have child areas in the lounge besides BC? We really liked the set-up at BC having the "kids corner." Thanks.

I am not sure if you can call this an official "kids corner" but in the Atrium Club lounge at the Contemporary here is a picture where a lot of kids usually sit and 99% of the time the TV is usually one of the Disney Channels.

My choice of beverages is water. Last year when we stayed at the AKL my DH would grab a soda or two from the lounge to enjoy during the evening. I bought my own water for the room. Is it okay to ask for a bottle of water to take back to the room or should I just go ahead and buy my own water again this year?

Awesome -- thank you very much. That is the exact lounge we have our eyes set on for next fall.

WL has one area set up with a TV tuned to a children's channel, and some comfy seating around it.

The Polynesian has a nice kids area with child sized furniture and a TV always tuned to the Disney channel.

Yes, you are able to request a bottle of water for consumption in your room.

Sugarloaf had one. Same as others above have said...a small area with child-size furniture and a TV tuned to Disney channel.

Sounds like most of the lounges, if not all, have child areas. Thanks everyone for posting the info!

Having a few issues with IPO at the Poly. I wanted to order a 10" specialty cake and I asked IPO if they could take care of it for me. Was told sure no problem. When I was given flavor choices I was told only frosting flavor available is vanilla butter cream. Well my DH detests vanilla butter cream. I knew from the cake threads in the restaurant board we should be able to have other choices. So I called the cake line directly and got the icing flavor I wanted, gave them my credit card # and ordered the cake. Next, my DH wanted to play golf at the Magnolia or Palm during our stay between 1/6/10 and 1/16/10. The Poly IPO told me they are closed during that entire time. In the meantime, a friend of ours called and said they are playing the Palm on 01/08. So, I called the wdwgolf number. I was told that neither the Palm nor the Magnolia is closed during our stay. So, okay I make the reservation at the Palm. While I was on the phone, I asked them to confirm the tee times at LBV and Osprey. Guess what, there was NO tee time made at LBV at all and Osprey was made for 12/12/09 instead of 01/12/10. I cancelled the Dec 12 tee time and make one fairly close to the time we wanted fror 01/12/10. So I call IPO and they can't find the LBV one either. Sure hope it isn't in the system someplace and we are charged for no shows. I guess I am going to spend the next 15 minutes or so verifying the dining reservations IPO made are for the correct dates. This is just a heads up that it may be smart to verify the accuracy of reservations made for you by the IPO. But one thing good I can say about IPO is everyone is very friendly and they have responded very promptly.

Now that is sort of scary. This is our first trip to Disney World and we probably won't be going back for four or more years. We went CL at the Poly because it was where the kids wanted to stay and we thought with Club Level that we would have an easier time making the kid's and adult's dreams come true.

I think I will be verifying our ADR's now. Yikes.

I woke up this morning to an e-mail from AKL IPO (sent at 7am) with our ADRs for our May 2-10 trip.

Everything was within 5 minutes except 2- Le Cellier which I expected and Narcossee's. We wanted Narcossee's at 8 for the fireworks at 9pm. IPO made our ADR for 7pm which is way too early. So I quickly hopped online to check and see if there was anything else. There was a 7:35pm and an 8:25pm. I don't understand why they didn't book one of those for us instead of 7pm :confused3 Little irritating that I had to book the better time myself and it made me late for work.

Other than that I think it was awesome that I had the itinerary so fast and early this morning!

All of my dining was okay. YEAH!!! It turned out just to be the golf that was messed up. It just took me a few minutes to verify dining online and I felt much better after I did. Have a great trip!!

Thanks for your response Tess. Hope you have a trip ticker soon

Guess that depends on the AP rate fairies or the 40% off pixies. . .we are tentatively thinking of going back next year in September for F&W. I suppose I won't be too heartbroken if it doesn't work out since we went twice this year. Who am I kidding. . . . :sad1:

We're booked in for early march break, 7-14 at the Yacht Club Concierge Level. I've been reading through this thread and found some negatives about the IPOs. I emailed them yesterday at 11:50pm and got a reply and an ADR for Ohana's that I couldn't get online myself by 7:00am this morning. Now that's efficient. I'm really looking forward to this stay.

Any special room requests for a Garden view CL room I should be asking for?

Thanks all for this great thread.

Thinking about booking AKL CL for a quick Jan trip:banana::banana: Does anyone know what the "Offerings" are in the CL?? epecially breakfast?? & Hors D'oeuvres.

Thanks:)

We stayed there last Oct and they had croissants, pastries, bagels, toast, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, tea, coffee, juices etc

For hor d'oeuvres they had chicken on stick, cheese, crackers, butternut squash soup, meat filled turnovers, veggies etc.
