We are thinking about using our points and staying at the Disneyland Hotel California for 3 nights before our CA to FL DCL cruise next year.

Thanks

We were at Disneyland in January and we stayed on points at the Grand Californian. We were upgraded to Concierge using cash. It cost us another 100 an night but it was really worth it. We had free breakfast everyday, free soda and water. and snacks throughout the day. At night they do a story time for the kids in the lounge. The wear the pj's and have cookies and milk.
We ate breakfast one day in the restaurant and for 4 of us it cost 80 dollars for a buffet. The money we saved eating in concierge covered the cost of the upgrade. I would really try to stay at the Grand Caloifornian if you can afford the points

Whatever you do have a really great time

Judy

That is pretty cool. I remember years ago when I went as a kid that elevator took you to the 'Top of the Park' lounge which had pretty nice views toward Disneyland. Then when we went back for a number of years the bar was closed and the elevator wasn't being used. I am glad that they found a good use for that space.

WOW - thanks for the great info - I never realised you got so much. We would love to do the Grand Californian, but we only have 150 points, and will have about 50 left from this year, so 200 points would be about right for the three nights we will be there. What would you say are the benefits of staying at that hotel compared to the Disneyland.

We have never done Disneyland and this will only be a flying stop. Next time we hope to be there for a week so conciege will not be a possibility!

Thanks Again

We stayed in a Concierge room at the Disneyland Hotel last month. In addition to all of the good information provided by OnTheRocks, I can tell you that the view of the nightly fireworks from the Lounge is fantastic, as is the "water show" (dancing fountains with music and lights).

The rooms were very large, and had two queen beds and a day bed. We really enjoyed our visit!

I think I would be tempted to bank the points and use cash for Disneyland hotels. I was online musing about a possible visit and found the prices for their packages to be fairly reasonable (for Disney, that is ;) ), even in Concierge.
And Lorraine, UK to California has got to be an exhausting journey: trans-Atlantic then trans-continental. I suppose I have colleagues who do longer flights to visit our East Asian and Australian offices, but that much time in a the plane would drive me batty.

I have fond memories of Disneyland when I was a kid (oooh so long ago, when it was the only one, and you had individual tickets for each different ride). We went again about a decade ago, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (esp the Blue Bayou Restaurant over Pirates of the Caribbean). But then there is just so much to do in Southern California anyway. Enjoy!

Hi, thanks for the thoughts.

We have to use at least 50 of the points or we will lose them. We kind of see it as a free hotel for the night! We are getting used to 'nice' accomodation and see it as a bit of a treat. I would love to hear more about what GC has to offer over Disneyland hotel.

Thanks again for all the info - and if anyone has anymore I would love to hear it.
