Hi! My nephew is turning 18 in January and we’ve booked our first (and probably only) concierge cruise for him. He loves DCL and also loves “bougie” things, so I want to make sure he gets the full experience.

What can we expect and ask for with concierge? We’re Platinum with DCL, so we know what to expect in general, just don’t want to miss out on any amenities.

Which ship will you be on and where are you cruising?

If you're in a 1 bedroom suite you can get food from the MDRs delivered to your room. You can also ask the lounge to stock certain beverages (not a guarantee, but they'll try).

r.e. bold - *BEVERAGES* as in soda, water, juices AND INCLUDING beer, wine, liquor ??? :confused3

There is nothing more "bougie" than the pillow menu-lol. Make sure he uses the robe and slippers-they will be in the cabin. It's fun to be first in the theater and get the popcorn. Ask the lounge bartender to make a "virgin" drink to take in with you. You are platinum, so you know the rest... Have a great cruise!

My husband in particular likes the things that make him feel a little extra "special" when we go concierge (and the family loves razzing him about it!). The things he seems to talk about the most are:

The special pre-board waiting room
The private embarkation lunch
The popcorn and early entry for evening shows
The robes
The private meet and greets in the concierge lounge

He also takes advantage of the adult beverages, but since you have an under-ager, I would say to make sure you ask for as many "fun" drinks as you can. The virgin drinks of the day. Whatever that blue sparkling drink is that looks like champagne (Cloudem??) in a champagne glass. Depending on the ship Virgin pina coladas and dacquiris (these were easy on the Wish but not on the Magic/Wonder).

There may also be things specific to your cruise that you should ask about at the beginning so you don't miss them. We had a private deck to see the glaciers in Alaska and both Mickey and Minnie came for pictures. We almost missed it because I didn't quite understand just how special it was going to be compared to watching from our balcony!

There is food in the lounge multiple times a day. It is great for snacking or a small/light breakfast. You get priority seating for the shows and free popcorn. I think you can also take a drink from the lounge to the theater. The pillow menu is fun, because when/how often do you get to do something fancy like that? There's blue drink that I think is sparkling cider that is only in the concierge lounge.

@auntlynne is right-chat up the hosts. We mentioned we loved the scones and high tea they serve in the lounge in the afternoon. When we returned from Castaway they had high tea brought to our room-scones, macroons, tea. It was fun! And I forgot about the private character meet- they serve small smoothies and a character comes to the lounge for photos. Just ask your hosts what day that will be.

One of the largest perks is the ability to work with shoreside concierge services BEFORE the cruise to schedule the various activities you are invested in (Speciality restaurants, Drink Tastings, etc), and these days your best best to get a cabana (maybe the ultimate in bougie) is with the shore concierge team. All this happens before the standard booking windows and you email the team with your requests 130 days before your cruise starts. Shoreside concierge will email you about 135 days out with instructions on how to do this. Its important you set this up as soon as you can.

Yes! You can ask them to stock any type of beverage in the lounge. Again, it's not guaranteed, but if there's a particular wine, beer or liquor that you like they will try to stock it for you for the evening receptions.

Alcohol is only available in the lounge in the evening, starting at 5pm. You can request the bartender have certain alcoholic drinks available in the lounge (within reason, for example, they are not going to stock pappy van winkle, but they'll bring you woodford).

No alcohol is provided in the room/suite--just water, soda, juirce etc there.

These are awesome tips. Thank you. We'll be doing Concierge in February for my 55th. We have a family stateroom with verandah, not a 1br. I believe I cannot request bottled water and Coke, Diet Coke for our refrigerator?

I have had 1 br suites, and family staterooms, and have never had a problem having bottled water or soda's (coke products) stored in our refrigerator. The key may be communication, my wife makes a point to be friendly and chatty to the room stewards, its not hard they seek you out, and tells them on embarkation day what we like in our refrigerator, and its always there after that.

we never ask for alcohol, so no clue about that. But we always get a room near the concierge lounge and it's fun to go there and be sociable and get what we want.

As for main dinning room meals, honestly don't know about staterooms, was told it was possible for one bedroom suites with a table, but havent done it. I did ask once about meals from palo, and was told that was ONLY for the largest suites on board (the class above 1 br).

dining times or specific restaurant rotation,

Just to clarify this...

You are limited to the 2 dining times DCL has. You can't create your own. You can ask them for first or second seating.

Likewise you are limited to the designated MDR rotations - due to their rotational model you can't create your own. You can request a certain MDR the first night OR Pirate Night OR Dress Up Optional night, etc. But you can't say "Animator's Palate every night".

Yes, if you have a 1bd suite (or higher) you can get dinner delivered from an MDR. When we were on the Fantasy last year we had to pick from one of two delivery times/windows (which aligned with the dinner seating times). We could pick any of the MDRs to order from (it didn't have to be the one we were 'assigned' to that night, but everyone in the stateroom had to order from the same MDR.

It is only the Royal suites that can do Palo.

I do not think you can ask for alcohol in your stateroom. You can certainly ask them to stock a particular brand of alcohol in the lounge, but I don't think they'll deliver it to your stateroom. We too have had luck asking the stateroom hosts or concierge hosts to have our stateroom stocked with Diet Coke, water, etc.

Just last night I was e-mailing at the stroke of midnight, hoping for a cabana.
