Concerned about my CT chest scan

I had a CT chest scan a few days ago and received my results today and found out I have a 5 mm non-calcified nodule on my lung. My doctor has told me not to worry but they will repeat the test in 6 months to see if it grows. Of course everything I've read on the internet leads me to Lung Cancer. Have any of you dealt with anything similar? I'd really appreciate the prayers. Thanks

Oh Dear I can't say anything sense I don't have personal experience towards this but I can say that I hope it isn't something serious you have my support and my prayers:hug:

I am sure all will turn out fine!
Best of wishes to you:wizard:

I know absolutely nothing about your situation but should you wait that long to see if something will come of it? Can you get a second opinion? I wish the very best for you. :goodvibes

Like mtblujeans said, you can always go for a second opinion. However, if you believe your doctor is capable and has much experience in the field, I think you should trust his/her opinion. If it were something major, I would think s/he would send you for more tests (even for another CT scan or another type of scan to get a better look) or even have you get another scan within a shorter period of time.

I don't have any experience with lung issues, but I understand how detrimental it can be to have all this health-related information on the internet at our fingertips. The majority of my health issues are gastrointestinal. I was actually able to "diagnose" one of my intestinal diseases before I even had the tests done. Because of that, I feel like I can diagnose many of them just because of the extensive research I do.

But even though I did make a correct guess once, I actually failed more times than that. Often times, I have this feeling that I have either esophageal cancer or stomach cancer. The symptoms match up perfectly. My doctor has me getting endoscopies every year, and so far, nothing has gotten worse. The added pain and other symptoms end up being something else. So I understand how difficult it is to have this bigger, scarier prospect of a disease hanging over your head. But when it comes to my GI doctor, I trust him immensely.

I also have a few heart issues as well. For a while, my cardiologist thought that I had something called SVT (supraventricular tachycardia), which could be fixed with a procedure, which involved burning/scarring part of my heart tissue to stop the palpitations. Again, I found out about SVT before my doctor even said a thing, and I was convinced that I had it. To be thorough, my doctor (again, someone who I trust and someone who has a great deal of experience in the field) had me go through all the tests including a 24-hour Holter heart monitor and then a month-long heart monitor. The final test to determine what was wrong was a head-up tilt table test. After all this testing, they found out that it wasn't SVT.

In short ... uhh, not that this was really short, sorry about that, lol ... if you trust that your doctor knows his/her stuff, I think you can relax a little. If you don't think you will be able to relax, by all means ... definitely get a second opinion. None of us would want to see you stressing out for the next 6 months :grouphug:

I'll keep you in my prayers. Let us know what happens

Thank you all for keeping me in your prayers. I am seeing my doctor again next week for more test results that I had taken and I'm definitely going to be probing him for more info about this spot.

Hugs  I hope things get explained at your next appointment. But yes, I have heard of benign small nodules on lung tissue, kinda like just a hard place, that just are there and don't necessarily change into anything else. Hopefully whatever you situation is will be minor!
