*COMPLETE* "You know he won't remember!" - 9 wk old baby's 1st visit to the World!

Glad you enjoyed San Angel - while I was at a F&WF event the rest of my family had a spur-of-the-moment lunch there and really enjoyed it as well!

We really enjoyed it. It was funny how much we liked the restaurants we were iffy on. We actually liked them better than some of the ones we thought we would love!

Very cute picture of sleeping Luke

Thanks!

We were not impressed with the Test Track makeover either. I mean, what's the actual point of the ride now? :confused3 I guess that will free up some time in the park now, though, since it also seems to have the slowest Single Rider and FP+ return lines in existence!!

Dinner at San Angel looks really nice! I'm sure it's even better of an experience when you are seated waterside. Such pretty ambiance in that pavilion! I'm glad you were impressed with your meal after being nervous about eating there. That's always a nice surprise! That caramel cheesecake looks like heaven on a plate!

I am so glad you are finding it helpful. Your trip is not until October, right? I am planning a post at the end where I go into more detail about taking a young baby. I plan to go into feedings, naps, weather, transportation, packing, rides, etc. I was going to do this at the end of the trip report. Hopefully you won't have left yet!

Yup, you got it! October it is. I still have to finish growing this little guy or girl between now and then...holy it's gonna be a busy 7 months till this trip! Whew :)

I was really disappointed because I love Epcot and want it to have some more exciting rides. I know it is still considered a headliner, but for me it dropped out of "must ride" status. :(

The caramel cheesecake did look awesome. If I hadn't ordered the Tradititional Mexican Dinner, I would have tried the cheesecake for dessert. But I wasn't at all disappointed with my choice. Everything was awesome and I would order it again!

Just finished reading everything to this point and enjoying your adventure. We are due with DD #4 July 5th and are planning a trip in Sept. Our last trip was 5 years ago and we went with our then 7 , 3 and one year old and we had a blast! It was our first trip as a family (our first vacation since our Honeymoon) and it was also our 10 year anniversary. I am always amazed that people think that they have a say in your decisions as a family! We had several people say that we should be taking the trip without our kids as is was our anniversary and others that were shocked that we would kids so young.
Looking back at the pictures with them now as we are getting ready for this trip has been so fun and the youngest is really excited just seeing how much she enjoyed it as a baby. This time we are headed back for our 15 yr anniversary with our now 12, 8, 6 and our new lo will only be 2-3 months. We just cannot pass up the opportunity to celebrate all that has happened in our Marriage in the last 15 years! Plus, if we waited until the youngest is "old enough" by some people's standards the oldest will miss out on being a kid at Disney!

Look forward to reading the rest of your TR for tips with a newborn!

Busy, but exciting! Are you planning to find out what you are having or are you planning to be surprised? I originally wanted to be surprised, but in the end my husband swayed me and we found out. :)

So glad to have you along, and glad to hear that there are other "crazy" people like us taking their babies to Disney. I had trouble finding many trip reports with young babies, so I am hoping my experiences will be of help to others (like yourself) planning to take a little one to the World! :goodvibes

Today was our fourth park day, and we were headed back to Magic Kingdom. For those keeping track, this was my dad's first day in MK since he hadn't arrived yet on our first day there. As usual, the first order of business was to get Luke ready. This is an iron-on that was designed by M's sister that we put on a couple onesies.

Dressed and ready, we headed off to Magic Kingdom. Luke was resting up for a big day!

From the timestamp on the photos, it looks like we arrived about 10. Rope drop was a thing of the past this trip! We went completely by Luke's schedule on this trip. Most mornings he woke up pretty early, but I had to feed him, everyone had to get ready, we had to get him ready, pack up his stuff, and eat breakfast ourselves. And on several mornings, by the time we had done all that it was time for another feeding! :lmao: So we didn't get to the parks super early. I remember one day that we made it to Epcot before park opening, but I think that was the only time.

So we headed into the park around 10 and first stop was for some Photopass photos.

Hiding that sweet face again!

We also took this photo of Main Street.

You can see some of the beautiful Halloween decorations that were up. We did not do MNSSHP as it didn't really seem worth the cost with Luke, but we would like to do it in the future. M and her family went and really enjoyed it. They have been a few times and think this is a superior party to MVMCP.

After we took our photos, Luke was getting restless, so we decided to feed him and check out the Baby Care Center since it was nearby. My parents went to ride BTMRR and we agreed to meet back in Fantasyland as we had Fastpass + reservations to meet the princesses coming up soon.

The Baby Care Center was very nice. Cool and quiet. :thumbsup2 Also, the nursing room was dimly lit which is a plus for anyone nursing a little one to sleep. It is just one large nursing room, and there were 4 moms in there at once. One of whom was obviously uncomfortable by the group as she had turned her chair around and pulled it into the corner and didn't join in the conversation the rest of us were having. I thought the group experience was kind of nice and I enjoyed chatting with the other moms and learning about their experiences with their little ones at Disney.

After Luke was fed, we made our way over to Fantasyland. We found the Princess Fairytale Hall and waited for my parents. And waited....and waited....and waited. We tried texting and calling them without success. We waited until the Fastpass was about to expire and then we gave up and went in without them. Cinderella and Aurora were very nice and we were glad we got to meet them. However, the whole experience seemed rushed and not as "magical" as some of our other character experiences this trip. This may be because there was some drama with the family ahead of us. The Photopass photographer for one of the princesses wasn't there, and when the CM tried to explain this, the mother went berserk! She started yelling and cursing at the CM and demanding to see the manager. Finally, they got a manager and a Photopass photographer (after holding up everyone else in line). I understand being frustrated about not having the photographer there (I had paid for the card, too, and wanted those pictures), but the way she acted was unbelievable. There was no reason for her to act like that, and it wasn't the CM's fault. So after all that, I think they were rushing people through to regain some lost time. Also, I think it may have soured the princesses attitudes some. :( However, we still enjoyed getting to meet them and we got some cute pictures of Luke's first princess interaction.

When we got out, my parents still hadn't made it back! They showed up a couple minutes later. Apparently, they had went to ride BTMRR, and after they had waited a while, the ride broke down. They waited a while longer, hoping it would be a quick fix. But it wasn't, and eventually they gave up and came back. So all that time, and they never rode anything! Oh well! We had Fastpasses for the other side of the Princess Fairytale Hall next (don't even remember who was on this side - Rapunzel?), so we jumped in that line, but even the Fastpass side was moving really slowly and Luke was not having it! So we gave up after a few minutes. We looked around the gift shops for a few minutes, but it was REALLY HOT (the hottest day of the trip) and Luke wasn't the only one getting cranky. So we decided to head over to BOG and see if we could check in early!

Next update: another BOG lunch and a super HOT day in the Magic Kingdom.

Busy, but exciting! Are you planning to find out what you are having or are you planning to be surprised? I originally wanted to be surprised, but in the end my husband swayed me and we found out. :)

We had our ultrasound Friday, and are having our Dr's office seal the sex of the baby in an envelope to give to a friend of mine who happens to be a caterer. She is going to bake us a cake with either blue or pink frosting in the inside layers (gender neutral on the outside). We're having a family party to do the reveal so we all find out together on April 4th. Can't believe I'm waiting that long...I'm a crazy planner so there was no question on my waiting to be surprised!!

That is similar to what we did! We had a friend take the envelope and fill a decorated box with balloons. Then we opened the box in front of all our family and friends. The looks on our faces when we saw those blue balloons were priceless (especially since we both had a feeling we were having a girl!). :rotfl2:

Cute update - sorry it was so hot though ... that must have been a bit rough on Luke of course but just with all the baby stuff that must be carried

Bummer that they didn't get get on BTMR after all that.

The other side of the Princess Hall most likely had Repunzel and another visiting princess (when we were there it was Snow White) - definitely not worth it if everyone is feeling the heat and tired.

***************

Must admit that I am enjoying everyone's stories of how the sex of their babe was told to them ... we were less creative in just having the doctor tell us while the ultrasound is going on :rotfl:

With the baby we are expecting now my wife thought it was a girl and we found it she was correct so that was good. Plus we already had a girl's name picked out and not for a boy so while we would have been happy either way, it was a bit of a relief

Yes, I was definitely hoping late September/early October would be a little cooler than it was!

Just wait until you hear about the rest of the day. :rotfl2:

Good. I don't feel so bad then. It seemed like it was going to be a long wait even with the Fastpass. In the 5 minutes we waited we did not move at all and we could see a long line ahead of us.

That worked out well! Ours was the opposite, we had only talked about girl names because we both thought that's what we were having.

So when I left off, we had decided to see if we could check in early at BOG to escape the heat. Fortunately, we could! We again walked past everyone in the hour long line and straight into the restaurant! :thumbsup2 I could not have imagined waiting in that line on this day. It was so hot and the line was not shaded at all. They had water stations set up throughout the line, but I still could not have done it!

Since I loved my meal from the other day, I ordered the croque monsieur again. But this time I had the triple chocolate cupcake since I thought it was the better choice last time. DH ordered the exact same thing. It was excellent this time too! I don't have another picture of the croque monsieur, but you can use your imagination or go look at the picture from Day 1. :rotfl:

My mom tried the Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style) - eight-hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beens jardinière. She was very pleased with this dish!

My dad ordered the Tuna Nicoise Salad - Warm seared tuna steak with chilled green beans, potatoes, olives, roasted bell peppers, tomatoes, and hard boiled eggs. He also really enjoyed his choice, but since he couldn't eat the dessert I don't think it was really enough food. Some of the restaurants would substitute something else for the dessert (appetizer, cheese plate, etc.) and I thought that was very nice so that he could have something else he could eat.

My parents ordered two of the same dessert - Lemon-raspberry cream puff - filled with lemon custard. Since I know my dad didn't eat his, I'm assuming my mom and DH split it? I know I didn't have any.

Our desserts.

After a refreshing lunch, everybody was cheerier and so we headed off to ride some more rides! First stop was Haunted Mansion. This is one of my favorites! The ride broke down while we were waiting, but they got it back up and running relatively quickly. We got on and got to the very last part of the ride and then it broke down again. We got stuck facing the exit for what seemed like forever (why couldn't we at least get stuck at a more interesting part?). Fortunately, Luke was in a better mood and didn't throw a fit about sitting in one spot for such a long time.

We finally made it out without anyone becoming the 1000th happy haunt. :lmao: Then we went over to see if Big Thunder was back up and running. It was! We took turns riding this, but unfortunately there was no shade anywhere nearby, so Luke was pretty crabby again by the time we got done riding.

We walked over to the shaded area under Splash Mountain and we sent my parents to ride while I fed Luke. Or at least that was the plan. So we settled in a shady, quiet corner and I attempted to feed Luke. But he wasn't having it. He was hot and tired and he did not want to eat. And of course, I didn't have a bottle with me! So I tried another spot, and then another position, and then another spot. I was getting desperate for him to eat as I didn't want him to become dehydrated. I even went in the bathroom to try to nurse him because I knew it would be nice and cool. But still no luck. So I got all worried and told DH that we had to leave RIGHT THEN. We walked up to the train station since it was right there and we got on the train. I had DH call my parents to let them know why we had abandoned them at Splash Mountain.

My plan was to just get back to the room as quickly as possible. Of course, around Tomorrowland, Luke decided he was fine after all and settled down to eat. After some confusion about where we were (DH forgot to tell my parents we got on the train, so they thought we were walking out), my parents got on the train and we took a couple laps while Luke ate. Even though he had eaten, I thought it was still best to get out of the heat and let Luke rest at the hotel. My parents decided to stay, so we hugged them goodbye at the Main Street station and we went to the car while they stayed in the park.

My parents' luck with broken rides continued as they went to ride TTA and it broke. :lmao: But they did manage to get these cute pictures:

In the meantime, we were hanging out at the resort with Luke. He was as happy as a clam. No resemblance whatsoever to that crabby baby from the park!

Does this look like a baby who was having a major meltdown an hour before?

Next update: we meet back up with my parents for dinner - Eins, zwei, drei g’suffa!

Glad you had another good experience at BOG.

Too bad about all the ride breakdowns, though. And the meltdown. Glad he finally decided to eat (and cheered up).

This day was probably the worst of this trip just because it was so hot. And of course, the heat made me a nervous mama. We did a good job of keeping Luke shaded (and usually double shaded by using his stroller shade plus sitting in the shade). We also had two fans to blow on him all the time. So we kept him nice and cool usually. But this was one of those days that it was hot even in the shade!

Bummer about the rides breaking down and the heat getting to Luke - always tough to balance that and can totally understand getting worried when he was hot and not eating.

Glad that the train ride calmed him down! We'll have to keep that in mind for future trips! :thumbsup2

Well, all the little boys I know love trains, so I'm not surprised that did the trick on getting Luke to calm down and eat!! I would have been nervous in that heat too about dehydration. Florida can be brutal!!

I'm sure I was just being a paranoid new mom (after all he had eaten great just a couple hours before), but better to be over cautious in my opinion! The train worked wonders. I just held him while DH pointed a fan at him and before I knew it he was happy and rooting! :rotfl2:

Boys and their trains! :lmao: Shhhh...don't tell Luke but we got him a ride on Thomas train for his 1st birthday! It is this one:

We got a great deal though and only paid about half that for it! I think he is going to love it!
